Bournemouth goalkeeper Artur Boruc has triggered a clause in his contract which allowed him to add a year to his deal after a set number of appearances.
Boruc has been the Cherries' first-choice 'keeper this term keeping 8 clean sheets in 32 games. The retired Poland international was Eddie Howe's first permanent signing in June 2015, and was rewarded with a one year contract extension last summer in spite of his increasing years; he's 37. Having reached the quota as per his deal, Boruc has triggered the clause and will now be at the club until at least June 2018. There are now no members of the Bournemouth squad left whose contracts will expire in the summer. Boruc is unlikely to be starting next season, as the Hoe was reportedly looking to replace him with Chelsea's Asmir Begovic in January. Mon, May 1, 2017 09:04:00 PM

Artur Boruc couldn't effectively punch out Chris Brunt's corner and Gareth McAuley was first to react and the resulting goal cost the Cherries a point.

Boruc makes some amazing saves from time-to-time but more often he is guilty of making crucial errors that end up being costly for his side. It was a case of the latter again in Week 26 as he flailed at a Chris Brunt set piece. The ball fell in the six yard box and West Brom's Gareth McAuley beat Boruc's teammates to the ball to score the match winner for Tony Pulis' side. You have to assume that Eddie Howe will be looking for a new goalkeeper come the summer.

AFC Bournemouth had a Boxing Day to forget as the Cherries were defeated 3-0 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Monday.

Despite Chelsea without Diego Costa and N'Golo Kante, due to suspension, the Blues proved too much for Bournemouth to handle. While both sides threatened looked lively in the attacking third in the first half, it was Chelsea who took the lead after 23 minutes when Pedro produced a stellar finish. Artur Boruc was left helpless again shortly after the restart when Eden Hazard converted from the penalty spot, after he was brought down by Simon Francis. Following the second goal Chelsea were in complete control and added to their lead when Pedro finished off a fine afternoon with his second in injury time. Bournemouth will look to end a two-match losing skid when they travel to Swansea City on Saturday.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe said the club will wait until the last moment to see if Artur Boruc and Andrew Surman can feature this weekend.

Surman has missed the last three weeks with a hamstring injury, but is nearing a return, which would be especially welcome this week against Arsenal since Jack Wilshere will have to sit out against his parent club. Meanwhile, Boruc missed last weekend's win against Stoke City due to a back injury as Adam Federici filled in for the clean sheet. Said Howe: "On Artur Boruc we're not sure and the same for Andrew Surman - so we'll make some late decisions. Jordon Ibe is OK now, he's better from his illness so he'll be available."

AFC Bournemouth have handed veteran goalkeeper Artur Boruc a new contract that will see him stay with the club for another season.

Earlier in the week, the Cherries locked up their #2 keeper Adam Federici for another three seasons and now have the 36-year-old Boruc still in the fold as their #1. A clause in his contract guaranteed him another season at Dean Court but the club gave him a fresh contract as reward for a job well done. The Polish international was serviceable for the club last season but he is in the lower tier of Premier League shot-stoppers. Still, he has value in fantasy as a budget choice and, if Eddie Howe manages to bolster the defensive line, Boruc could see an uptick in clean sheets next season.

Bournemouth announced a series of new goalkeeper contracts in the matter of one week, signing Artur Boruc and Adam Federici to new deals.

Boruc is currently at the European championships with Poland as the No. 3 keeper following two impressive years at Bournemouth since his departure from Southampton after the 2013/14 season. The 36-year-old was set to activate a player option to stay on the south coast for another season, but the Cherries opted to reward him with a new deal after making 33 Premier League starts for the top-flight debutants this season, recording seven clean sheets. The new contract will last through the end of the upcoming season while No. 2 keeper Federici's deal is a three-year contract.

In an unconfirmed report contained in the Bournemouth Echo, there is speculation that Artur Boruc could be out of action until January earliest.

Boruc is in his native Poland seeing a specialist about his knee and word from Poland is that he may need to have it operated on. The Cherries have had more than their share of injuries to key players and now face a crisis at the keeper position as Adam Federici had to leave the draw with Everton last weekend with an ankle issue. Bournemouth will hope to at least have Federici back and not turn to the inexperienced Ryan Allsop, who replaced him last weekend, but if Federici is not fit, they would be eligible to seek another keeper on an emergency loan spell.

Artur Boruc was back between the sticks for AFC Bournemouth today, but had a nightmare performance as he was easily the culprit for two of goals conceded in a 1-5 loss to Tottenham.

Things started out perfectly for the Cherries. In the first minute, Charlie Daniels sent a cross from the left to find Matt Ritchie unmarked at the back post and the wide man connected from a tough angle to grab the initial advantage. The wheels then came off. After coughing up five goals to Manchester City last week, they did so again as Tottenham were finding it very easy to score goals, notching three by the half hour mark. Boruc fouled Harry Kane to set up a converted penalty chance, then later spilled an easy ball to gift a goal to Erik Lamela. Ritchie has reason to be of fantasy value going forward, but at the moment, AFC Bournemouth are a fantasy black hole.

Eddie Howe reports that Artur Boruc remains a doubt for AFC Bournemouth when they host Tottenham on Sunday.

Howe went on to indicate that the shot-stopper's thigh injury is not bad as initially feared, which would indicate that there is a strong chance he will be fit for Week 11 if not by Sunday. Adam Federici, who looked like a kid lost in a shopping mall last week against Manchester City, will look to improve on his first start of the season.

Artur Boruc will be assessed after 35-year-old was replaced moments before kick-off at The Etihad on Saturday. The goalkeeper had complained of a muscular problem during the warm-up and Eddie Howe took the decision not to risk his Polish stopper.

Boruc – an ever present this season – felt discomfort in his thigh handing Adam Federici his first league start since signing from Reading. Lee Tomlin was promoted to the bench. However, the Aussie international didn't get off to the best of starts as a clinical City side showed no mercy. After Sterling had opened the scoring on seven minutes, Federici then spilled a cross allowing Bony to tap-in for his first PL goal of the campaign. With Aguero, Silva and Kolarov all missing through injury, many were expecting a closely fought contest but Kevin de Bruyne and in particular, Raheem Sterling were inspired helping City to maintain their slender lead at the top of the league in a [5-1] drubbing.

Former Reading goalkeeper Adam Federici was inspired on Saturday as AFC Bournemouth stepped up there preparation for the new Premier League campaign with a hard fought draw against Ligue 1 side Nantes at the Stade de la Beaujoire in France.

Indeed the Cherries’ can feel a little aggrieved to leave with a share of spoils having missed an 87th minute penalty – Matt Ritchie blazed over from 12 yards – although on reflection a draw was a fair result. An established Championship stopper Federici penned a 3 year deal this summer becoming the second goalkeeper signed by Eddie Howe following the permanent capture of Southampton loanee Artur Boruc and it was the absence of the Polish number one – due to a shoulder problem - which afforded Federici his first 90 minutes in a Bournemouth shirt. Although his injury not thought to be serious Boruc is still not training which could open the door for Federici with only 12 days until kick-off.

Bournemouth have signed Artur Boruc to a one-year deal after he was released by Southampton.

Boruc spend last season on loan at Bournemouth and helped them to the Championship title and he was later released by Southampton, who have preferred others in goal ahead of him. Boruc was solid last season and has Premier League experience, where he has been streaky and sometimes prone to error. If Bournemouth's defense is solid next season, Boruc can be a good streamer in fantasy games.

Artur Boruc has made last season's loan deal with the Cherries permanent after helping them win promotion to the Premier League.

Boruc, whose Southampton contract expired at the end of the season, was available to Bournemouth on a free and both the player and club elected to extend their relationship. The keeper came to the club as an emergency loan in September of last season and ended up staying for the entire promotion campaign. He picked up 18 clean sheets as the Cherries won the Championship title and promotion to the Premier League.

Southampton have continued to rebuild their squad with the purchase of England international Fraser Forster from Celtic.

Their work isn't entirely done yet with center back still a big need but Southampton have continued to rebuild their depleted squad today with the acquisition of highly rated Celtic and England keeper Fraser Forster. Rumors have incumbent #1 Artur Boruc headed out the door as Forster enters. Assuming Boruc leaves it will mean they have lost Boruc, Shaw, Lovern, Chambers, Lallana and Lambert - more than half of last season's starting eleven. Coming in so far are Forster, Ryan Bertrand, Dusan Tadic Saphir Tadir, and Graziano Pelle. A solid center back could make that pretty close to a wash with a number of young players also maturing.

Southampton are looking to finalize a deal for England goalkeeper Fraser Forster.

Forster is reportedly on top of Southampton's list and he would provide an upgrade over Artur Boruc. Boruc was Southampton's number one goalkeeper last year and despite playing well for the majority of the season, he has proved to be a mistake-prone performer. Boruc has trouble earning the job two years ago and has historically been average. Forster would be a big step in Southampton's attempt to not be relegated.
