West Ham manager David Moyes confirmed James Collins is still unavailable with a hamstring injury.
Collins has been side-lined with the hamstring problem since mid-March and will need more time on the training pitch before making his return to action. The 34-year-old has been to limited just 12 starts this season. Moyes is expected to stick with Aaron Cresswell, Angelo Ogbonna and Declan Rice at the back when West Ham travel to Leicester City on Saturday. Elsewhere, midfielder Pedro Obiang is also in the doubt having been out with a knee injury since late January. Said Moyes: "Neither of them are in a condition to do that (be named in the matchday squad at Leicester) yet. Thankfully both of them are back doing some training, but neither of them are at a level of being match-fit." May 4 - 7:51 AM

James Collins is expected to miss Sunday's trip to Arsenal as the defender continues to struggles with a hamstring issue.

Manager David Moyes is set to have the same players available for the trip to the Emirates as he had for the 1-1 draw with Stoke City. Andy Carroll and Manuel Lanzini, who both made substitute cameos, are likely to start from the bench, but defender James Collins isn't yet ready to return. "We are in good shape regarding our squad for the game," Moyes wrote in The London Evening Standard. "Angelo Ogbonna has had a bit of tendonitis in his knee but we’re hoping he will be okay while James Collins was undergoing an epidural procedure in an effort to cure a hamstring problem." Elsewhere, Moyes could drop Joe Hart after his blunder for Stoke's goal on Monday: "I’ve not made a decision on it yet. I’ll have a look at everyone in the remaining two training sessions before Sunday’s match at Arsenal and then decide."

David Moyes is facing a defensive crisis ahead of the crucial bottom of the table clash with Southampton next weekend.

The Hammers were involved in a charity game on Wednesday to help raise funds for National League outfit Dagenham and Redbridge. Moyes named a strong side which included the likes of Adrian, Mark Noble, Michail Antonio, Patrice Evra and Arthur Masuaku who was making his first appearance since completing a six-match ban. James Collins was also named as part of a back four, but worryingly for Moyes, it was the injury-plagued centre-back who limped off within 30 minutes due to a hamstring related problem. The setback leaves West Ham a short of numbers in defence having lost Winston Reid to a knee injury until next season and Jose Fonte to Chinese Super League club Dalian Yifang in recent weeks.

West Ham will be without defender James Collins for Friday's match against Brighton and Hove Albion.

The 34-year-old has missed the last three matches after he suffered an ankle injury during a goalless draw with West Brom in mid-Sept. His absence on Friday should see Winston Reid and Jose Fonte continue at center-back, while Angelo Ogbonna will be available off the substitute's bench. However, manager Slaven Bilic suggested in his pre-match press conference the Wales international and striker Diafra Sakho could both be back for next Wednesday's Carabao Cup match against Tottenham. "James Collins is out for a matter of days and Sakho has back pain," said Bilic. "They could both be back for the Spurs game."

James Collins is set for a spell on the sidelines but the news is a lot better than initially feared.

The West Ham defender sustained an ankle injury on Saturday forcing him off just 13 minutes into the second half. Slaven Bilic was preparing himself for the worst "it looked like being a few months" but fortunately, scan results confirm Collins will only miss a couple of weeks. Head of Medical Services Gary Lewin said: "It’s good news for James in the sense that it is not long-term or as serious as it perhaps looked at the time. We will manage him very carefully and ensure he returns when the time is right." The Hammers entertain London rivals Tottenham in the early kick-off this weekend and go into the game on an upward curve following a bad start to the season. Consecutive clean-sheets have helped West Ham move out of the Bottom Three but the injury to Collins could mean a change of formation with Zabaleta and Cresswell dropping in to make a back four.

This week's update from West Ham's treatment room focused on their defense, as it was revealed that James Collins will be available for selection against Crystal Palace after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Collins has been cleared to return to action after missing the last seven matches across all competitions, due to a calf injury against Arsenal on December 3rd. The club's fitness report revealed that Collins returned to full training this week and will be in contention for Saturday's match at the London Stadium. The report also noted that fellow defenders Sam Bryam and Reece Oxford had successful returns in the Premier League 2 match against Norwich City on Monday.

West Ham United defender James Collins is set to return to training next week after a length injury layoff.

Collins has been out of action since he pulled calf in the match against Arsenal on December 3rd. On Thursday, West Ham's Head of Medical and Sports Science Stijn Vandenbroucke said: "He [Collins] is working on the pitch and in the gym rebuilding his fitness." While Collins will be unavailable for Saturday's trip to Leicester City and next Monday's match with Manchester United, he could be in contention for GW21 when West Ham play Crystal Palace.

West Ham United will be without James Collins for an unspecified period after the Welsh defender suffered muscular trama against Arsenal during Week 14.

Collins has missed the last two matches and looks set to miss an extend run of matches. The prolonged absence leaves West Ham manager Slaven Bilic with just two fit center backs, Winston Reid and Angelo Ogbonna. This means that Bilic will likely use Reid, Ogbonna and Cheikhou Kouyate as his back three when West Ham face Hull City on Saturday.

West Ham defenders James Collins and Winston Reid were both force to withdraw from their respective countries, and will rehab with the club during the international break.

James Collins, 33, suffered a calf injury last week against Stoke, which forced him to withdraw from the Wales squad. "He will rehab with us this week and we hope he will be available for the trip to Tottenham Hotspur on 19 November," Head of Medical and Sports Science Stijn Vandenbroucke said in his latest fitness update. Meanwhile, Winston Reid, 28, was injured towards the end of the Everton game and was forced to withdraw from the New Zealand squad. "He is working on his rehab at Rush Green," Vandenbroucke added. The news puts Collins in contention, but Reid in doubt for GW12.

West Ham are hoping to see James Collins back in action within the next 2-3 weeks after the defender limped off against Tottenham due to a hamstring strain.

Collins sustained his first injury of the season during the 1-nil win over Spurs in game week twenty-eight and the club remain optimistic that the 32-year-old will be available after the international break. Enner Valencia (ankle), Joey O’Brien (hamstring) and Victor Moses (quadriceps) re-joined the group in training this week and all three come into contention for the FA Cup clash against Man United. Winston Reid will return on Friday although he will need more time. Meanwhile, James Tomkins is in the final stage of his rehabilitation after recovering from a calf injury.

James Collins has been ruled out until early December after receiving his marching orders against Watford last weekend.

The West Ham defender was dismissed for a rash challenge on striker Odion Ighalo at Vicarage Road and will miss the next three games following his violent conduct charge. Collins has only started three Premier League matches this season as the Wales international appears to have fallen behind James Tomkins and Winston Reid in the pecking order; and now that the latter has fully recovered from a niggling lower back [and hip complaint] the 32-year-old may have to bide his time before another opportunity presents. Slaven Bilic must decide whether Reid is fit-enough to face Everton on Saturday having missed the last month through injury, otherwise Angelo Ogbonna will get the nod after recovering from his recent hamstring problem.

James Collins was sent off in West Ham's 2-2 Europa League draw against Astra Giurgiu after receiving a harsh second yellow.

Collins started for the Hammers and helped them build a 2-0 lead but was sent off for a second yellow after an hour of play. Slaven Bilic described the second yellow as "harsh" and it certainly turned the match around. Fernando Boldrin made it 2-1 soon after and Angelo Ogbonna scored an own goal to equalize for Astra in the 82nd minute. The Hammers now have to go to Romania and earn a win in order to qualify for the next round. It's worth noting James Collins will not miss any Premier League action due to his red card in the Europa League.

West Ham have confirmed the signing of Juventus center back Angelo Ogbonna on a four-year deal.

The deal is rumored to be for approximately £10 million and sees the Hammers continue to add to their defensive corps. They have already added Pedro Obiang at the base of midfield and are still looking at Alex Song on a permanent deal depending on his health which is currently in question. They have also brought in Dimitri Payet as an attacking midfielder so while they aren't grabbing headlines, the Hammers are quietly having a productive summer rebuilding a squad that faded badly down the stretch last season.

James Collins will miss 4-6 weeks with a calf problem.

West Ham's summer was shortened to just about four weeks since they've qualified for the Europa Cup and they're already dealing with an injury blow. James Collins will be out for 4-6 weeks with a calf issue that forced him off in gameweek 37 against Everton. Collins may need to be relied upon next season if the Hammers part ways with Winston Reid, but he should be counted on as of right now.

West Ham defender James Collins will miss West Ham's trip to Newcastle this weekend.

West Ham have not been able to keep anyone healthy in recent weeks and Collins is another casualty that they'll miss in the final week. Collins has also been ruled out of the European Championship qualifier against Belgium on June 12th. The good news for the Hammers is that James Tomkins returns from a shoulder injury and will likely start at center-back.
