Jurgen Klopp is about to execute his first summer signing as Mainz goalkeeper Loris Karius has come to England for a medical ahead of a move to Liverpool.
The 22-year-old Karius is coming off a very successful season with Mainz and was voted in a poll as the second best keeper in the Bundesliga behind German international fixture Manuel Neuer. He once was a product of Manchester City's youth academy before returning to play in his homeland. Karius looks to be the eventual starter for Klopp's future plans and will provide serious competition for Simon Mignolet when the club reconvenes for preseason. His transfer fee is thought to be around £4.7m. May 23 - 6:17 PM

Simon Mignolet has returned to contention for Liverpool ahead of their Boxing Day clash with Leicester City following a hamstring issue.

Mignolet's hamstring issue was minor enough to where it was a gameday decision for Jurgen Klopp to not risk him and give Adam Bogdan his first league start since joining the club back in the summer. The switch proved horrific as an early Bogdan mistake led to a goal for Watford and set the tone for the day in a bad loss. While Mignolet's return should certainly provide an upgrade and benefit owners in fantasy, expectations should be limited as they now have to square off against the unstoppable attack of the Foxes in Week 18.

Reports surfaced earlier this morning that Simon Mignolet will be unavailable for Liverpool's match against Watford later today as he deals with a minor hamstring issue.

A tough break for Mignolet owners in fantasy. With most of the matches this gameweek already over, it will be tough to find a replacement keeper in non-FPL leagues where you can still make transactions. Adam Bogdan would then make his league debut for the Reds, who was signed this summer to back Mignolet up. It seems with the late news of the injury and the fact that it is considered minor would leave one to speculate that Mignolet will be back between the sticks on Boxing Day. It will be Bogdan then tasked today to stop the dynamic duo of Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney.

Former Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp is perhaps hours away from being officially introduced as the new boss for Liverpool.

The Klopp-to-Anfield rumor was well in place the moment Brendan Rodgers began to come under fire, and every media outlet over the past 48-72 hours has presented the move as a mere formality at this point. Of course, a move away from Old Trafford for David De Gea looked like a mere formality as well, so nothing is ever guaranteed. Klopp himself has already conducted interviews where he is addressing the future of Liverpool and what needs to be addressed, indicating that he feels there is quality in the current squad and a massive shakeup shouldn't be necessary. At this point he and the club are hashing out terms, including the assistant staff Klopp wants to bring in. Expect an official announcement within the next 24 hours.

Simon Mignolet struggled all day with possession at the back and he let in three goals as the Reds fell to rivals Manchester United 3-1 at Old Trafford.

Christian Benteke scored an amazing goal but that was about the only Liverpool highlight as the Reds struggled to assert themselves. The Reds have struggled all season in attack and it continued at Old Trafford where they could only muster an amazing Benteke strike. Back to the drawing board for Brendan Rodgers.

Liverpool have agreed to terms with Bolton Wanderers for the transfer of keeper Adam Bogdan, and he will join the Reds on July 1.

Bogdan has been with Bolton since they themselves were last in the top flight back in the 2011-2012 season so the Premier League is nothing new to the Hungarian international. He looks to serve as the primary backup for Simon Mignolet, pushing Brad Jones and Danny Ward down the depth chart, if not pushing one or the other out of Anfield entirely. He carries no fantasy relevance unless Mignolet misses time to injury.

It wasn't a scintillating match but Simon Mignolet made a key save on James Morrison when it counted to keep Liverpool even in the nil-nil draw at the Hawthorns.

The draw effectively dropped Liverpool out of the Champions League running with Manchester City six points ahead with a match yet to play against Aston Villa this week. Even if Liverpool win their make-up match in mid-week they will be hard pressed to make up the gap to fourth. Mario Balotelli got a rare start and didn't contribute much while Jordan Henderson and Philipe Coutinho at least had decent chances. Overall, the loss showed all of the same issues as the Reds FA Cup semi-final loss to Aston Villa last weekend. Not a good way to be closing out the season.

The knock Simon Mignolet picked up in Liverpool's loss to Manchester United last weekend was not serious and the Belgian international is fit to play for his country during the international break.

Mignolet is behind Thibaut Courtois on the Belgian keeper depth chart but appears to be set to back up the Chelsea man for Belgium tomorrow as they take on Cyprus and then they face Israel on Tuesday. For fantasy managers and Liverpool fans though, what matters is that the Reds' #1 will be between the sticks against Arsenal in their next league game.

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet faces a race against time to be fit for Saturdays’ Euro 2016 qualifier after picking up an ankle injury during the defeat to Manchester United in GW30.

Mignolet was accidentally caught by a Wayne Rooney trailing leg during the second half on Sunday but did continue after treatment, however the ankle flared up overnight and he was sent for a precautionary scan. The Belgium stopper has resurrected his season after Brendan Rodgers dropped Mignolet for an "indefinite period" earlier in the campaign but a thigh injury for Brad Jones handed him a quick return and he hasn’t looked back since. Mignolet is ranked second in the Premier League for the number of clean sheets [12] – just two behind Fraser Forster – and although he was helpless to stop a Juan Mata double he was on hand to deny Rooney his first Anfield goal in 10 years with a wonderful penalty save.

Simon Mignolet registered his 2nd clean sheet in as many matches as Liverpool earn their 2nd 1-0 win to begin the season.

Migs is quickly becoming a legend at Anfield, causing fans just as quickly to forget about Pepe Reina. He didn't have to work as hard as last week against Stoke City, but the 3 saves he made were quality, and Liverpool were able to tame the beast that is Christian Benteke, who had already scored against top sides Chelsea and Arsenal. Mignolet is not only the top scoring keeper in the Yahoo game at the moment, he's the top scoring player, period. It's probably wise to avoid next week against Manchester United, but certainly looks worth every pound going forward.

Liverpool's defense nearly squandered a strong attacking performance by giving up a penalty late to Stoke but debutante Simon Mignolet came to the rescue.

The arrival of Simon Mignolet this summer created some controversy around Anfield this summer given the perceived poor treatment of Pepe Reina. Mignolet appeared a little nervous early but made some strong saves and eventually saved the day when Daniel Agger gave up a penalty late in the match. Mignolet dove to his right and saved Jon Walters' spot kick, preserved the win and ensured himself a very strong fantasy day as well.

Simon Mignolet joins Liverpool from Sunderland after passing a medical and signing a long-term contract.

Mignolet is only 25 and already one of the best keepers in the Premier League. This is a great long-term investment by the club getting younger and better at a key position. The next domino to fall will be Pepe Reina's inevitable move elsewhere.

Liverpool are set to sign Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet for £9millon next week, according to BBC Sport.

The report states that the Belgium international is expected on Merseyside in the next few days to undergo a medical and complete the formalities of the move. His arrival will surely mean Pepe Reina is on his way out of Anfield, with Barcelona the most likely destination. Sunderland are interested in signing PSV Eindhoven goalkeeper Jereon Zoet as Mignolet's replacement.

Liverpool have made an initial 6.5 million pound bid for Sunderland's Simon Mignolet.

While it seems like this transfer is moving ahead, there are doubts. Sunderland are holding out for more money, and there are still other clubs interested in Mignolet (Arsenal, for instance). Meanwhile at Anfield, Reina's status is unclear and may still hinge on Victor Valedes' "will he or won't he" routine at Barcelona.

Liverpool hope to sign Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet for £8million in the next week, report the Daily Mail.

Simon Mignolet has made it clear he feels his future lies away from Sunderland, so if Liverpool came in with an acceptable offer then it may be the right time for him to leave the Stadium of Light. Arsenal have also been linked to the keeper, and Fraser Forster has been touted as a possible replacement for Sunderland if the reports become reality. The report suggests Pepe Reina is on his way to Barcelona.
