Harry Redknapp has urged Adel Taarabt to 'get himself in shape', if the playmaker wants to have a future at Queens Park Rangers.
Taarabt continues to live up to his reputation. While blessed with huge amount of talent, the midfielder has never been able to settle at a club, often falling foul of management, team-mates and fans. Taarabt spent the first half of last season on loan at Fulham before taking in the second half of the campaign with AC Milan, but he reported to QPR for pre-season in bad shape. Redknapp revealed the midfielder was unfit and has yet to train with his London club, so it will be some time before he sees Premier League action this season. Don't rule out a move away before the transfer window shuts at the end of August. Jul 30 - 5:36 AM

Adel Taarabt missed Fulham's match against Hull City with an ankle injury, and faces a late fitness test ahead of their next match against West Ham.

Dimitar Berbatov is also a doubt, and without those two, Fulham were toothless against Hull City. West Ham have no fit center backs available, so either player could prosper if fit.

Fulham fell behind by two goals early to Manchester City only to even the score in the second half, but the relentless Sky Blues attack added two more late as the Cottagers continue to wallow in the relegation zone after a 2-4 defeat.

The only goal Fulham scored without Manchester City's assistance came from Kieran Richardson, supplied by a Taarabt assist. The Morrocan made a nice run on a counter attack and slowed up near goal to allow Richardson to slot into position for the strike. Taarabt made only his second Premier League start since August as Rene Muelensteen put him at the head of a false 9 with Dimitar Berbatov sitting out. The plan did not work out on the scoreline but Taarabt may get an extended run in the starting XI after a lively performance. When in form, he can be a fantasy asset. However, it will take another solid start or two before he appears on the radar.

Adel Taarabt is still working on his fitness, according to manager Martin Jol, but could play some role against Leicester today in Fulham's League Cup tie.

It's hard to believe that three months after coming to Fulham on loan he's still out of shape. Fulham could use Taarabt's guile and unpredictability on the pitch and hopefully today's Cup match is a big step towards his return to the first team.

Adel Taarabt will be included in the squad for Fulham's opener against Sunderland but Martin Jol has deemed him not fit enough to start the match.

With Fulham relatively healthy going into their first match of the new season, Taarabt's inability to start won't be too big a burden. That said, Fulham have been missing Taarabt's type of presence in their midfield since Clint Dempsey and Mousa Dembele left for Spurs and they will hope he returns to full fitness sooner rather than later.

Martin Jol was talking up new loan signing Adel Taarabt's creativity, but warned about his fitness. "He hasn’t been included in a QPR team and we have to get him fit, so of course you can’t start with him," said Jol.

Taarabt will give Fulham options in attack going forward (pun intended) but it would be a brave fantasy manager who gambled on him right away. Seemingly he's set for a role off the bench against Sunderland. Jol doesn't have many option that are truly match-fit and he may try to play conservatively early, especially on the road to start the season.

Adel Taarabt, he of big talent and even bigger ego, has officially moved across London (again) and joined old Spurs boss Martin Jol at Fulham.

This is a strong move for Fulham. They get a year to see if a more stable environment like Fulham can get the best out of Taarabt. If he can begin to refine his talent and play within a team concept then they have added exactly the kind of young, dynamic creator they lacked in midfield last season. If his personality continues to inhibit him from reaching his potential then they can let him return to being QPR's problem at the end of the season. Sounds like a no-lose scenario for the Cottagers.

Finally, Fulham appear to be making a significant move to bolster their attack with a young, talented player.

Sure, Adel Taarabt may have some personality quirks but this is the sort of risk that Fulham should be taking. Martin Jol knows Taarabt from their time together at Tottenham and, at his best, Taarabt is everything Fulham needs. He isn't a carbon copy of Dembele but he will help the team replace some of the creativity and attacking impetus they lost when the Belgian went to Spurs last summer. Taarabt has definitely had some attitude problems in the past but taking him out of the dysfunctional QPR situation and inserting him into a team full of veterans may help mitigate his personality a bit. Starting a lot will help too. Strong move for Fulham if it comes together.

Stoke City are hoping to land QPR playmaker Adel Taarabt on loan for the season.

Understandably, QPR want a cash transfer for the the player who has seemingly fallen out (again!) with management. Taarabt would be a big signing for Mark Hughes as he would add the flair that Stoke City have lacked for years.
