Burnley have signed free agent goalkeeper Anders Lindergaard to a contract that will last until the end of this season.
Lindegaard was once a part of the final seasons at Manchester United with Sir Alex Ferguson in charge, but since has been fading farther and farther away from top flight action. He joined West Brom in 2015 but was loaned out to Preston North End, where he last saw action. Nick Pope has done an adequate job thus far in place of the injured Tom Heaton, so one would assume Pope will have to have a bad game for Lindegaard to get a shot at run in the side. He is not worth a roster spot in any fantasy format at this point, even owners of Heaton in draft leagues. Thu, Sep 21, 2017 06:14:00 AM

Anders Lindegaard and West Brom have parted company after the Baggies and the former Manchester United goalkeeper agreed to terminated his contract.

Lindegaard arrived at the Hawthorns as an emergency back-up last season when Ben Foster was injured and Boaz Myhill the only senior team goalkeeper. He didn't play much as Myhill kept the nets warm for Foster. Lindegaard's prospects got even less attractive once Foster returned in the second half of the season. The move to cancel his contract makes sense for both sides as Lindegaard surely will be interested in going somewhere where he will at least be the first in line to deputize for the starter.

Owning the West Brom goalkeeper just got even more complicated with the addition of a new potential starter in former Manchester United man Anders Lindegaard.

Let's be clear, there's nothing particularly special about Boaz Myhill as a fantasy goalkeeper beyond the fact that he is in net for a Tony Pulis team. That generally means a lot of clean sheets. Myhill had one standout match against Manchester City last season when his saves were the headline but most of his fantasy goodness can be traced right back to Pulis. With Lindegaard now in the picture as a potential starter, fantasy managers may have to own Myhill, Lindegaard, and Ben Foster if they want to be in on the Pulis goodness all season. There is a lot to like there but that's also a lot of roster to spend on one position.

West Brom have signed goalkeeper Anders Lindegaards on a two-year-old.

The Manchester United goalkeeper never had a chance at winning the Red Devils' starting goalkeeper job and he will join West Brom, where he'll battle with Boaz Myhill and Ben Foster for the starting job. Foster is currently out with an injury and Myhill hasn't impressed enough to be guaranteed the job, so Lindegaard certainly has a chance to start as soon as week five. Keep an eye on the situation before you add him in fantasy.
