Claudio Yacob has returned to the squad after being excused to attend to a family issue.
West Brom need all of the defensive help they can get. Tony Pulis has seen his club fall short of the grinding style that he is famous for despite it having worked out fairly well after his arrival last season. Pulis counts on a stout holding midfield to shield his wall of central defenders and having Yacob back will certainly help in that respect. The fact that they're playing struggling Swansea City in Week 18 shouldn't hurt either. Pulis might finally be back among the clean sheets. Thu, Dec 24, 2015 09:17:00 PM

Claudio Yacob will miss the Week 15 visit of Tottenham due to a suspension for the accumulation of yellow cards.

Yacob picked up his fifth yellow card of the season last weekend against West Ham which will force him to miss out this weekend. With Spurs in fine form the loss of one of their key holding players will make the task just that much harder for Tony Pulis' side this weekend. Expect Craig Gardner, a starter for most of last season, to return to the starting eleven in place of Yacob.

West Bromwich Albion have announced that holding midfielder Claudio Yacob has signed a two-year extension at the club.

Yacob and Craig Gardner were the two players who emerged at the base of the West Brom midfield after Tony Pulis took over. With Darren Fletcher playing in front of them and Youssouf Mulumbu having left for Norwich City, retaining Yacob was an important move for the Baggies. He is unlikely to be interesting to many fantasy managers regardless of format but his presence in the line-up will help contribute to clean sheets for Boaz Myhill and the defenders in front of him.

Darren Fletcher is likely to return to the Baggies line-up this weekend following the sending-off of team mate Claudio Yacob for two bookable offences during last Saturdays’ FA Cup defeat to rivals Aston Villa.

The Argentine received his marching orders as the game entered its final phase after a mad five minute spell which saw Yacob receive a yellow card [76] for a pull back on Agbonlahor while a lunge on Bacuna resulted in his second [80] which will result in a two game ban. His absence opens the door for Fletcher who was cup-tied for the trip to Villa Park while Pulis may look to freshen his side following two consecutive losses. Youssouf Mulumbu [hamstring] is back to full fitness and Callum McManaman has overcome a foot problem – Craig Gardner is a risk of dropping out while the fitness of Berahino, Ideye and Morrison will help identify other rotation possibilities.

Making his first start of the season, Claudio Yacob was shown a red card for jumping in to a tackle on Diego Costa two-footed in the first half.

Remarkably, West Brom didn't concede after the red card was shown to Claudio Yacob but they were already down 2-0 when it happened and they never really sniffed the goal either. Chelsea cruised to an easy home victory up a man and two goals.

Alan Irvine has indicated that holding midfielder Claudio Yacob could be available for transfer if the right offer presents itself.

With Youssouf Mulumbu firmly entrenched as the starting holding midfielder, Yacob's availability may indicate that Irvine intends to play a more aggressive formation than the ones that saw Yacob start 22 league matches last season. With an improved defense anchored by Joleon Lescott and Gareth McAuley Yacob would likely be an expensive squad player for the Baggies. No word on any specific potential bidders but Yacob is said to be "on the radar" of several clubs across Europe.

Claudio Yacob will be missing again for West Brom after he attempted to return from injury last weekend only to come off after 40 minutes.

West Brom's struggles are well documented at this point and it won't be getting any better with the news that Claudio Yacob will miss this weekend's match at Swansea and possibly next weekend's match at Hull City as well. While Yacob isn't a game-changer, these two matches may be season-changers for the Baggies who have a string of relatively weak opponents through March and into early April before Spurs, City, and Arsenal over four weeks later in April. If Pepe Mel's men can't scrape together some points without Yacob over the next couple of weekends then they may well be done.

All three Premier League clubs have been linked with longtime PSG player Clement Chantome.

With Fulham having acquired Derek Boateng it seems unlikely they will be a significant player for Chantome but West Brom could certainly use a long-term improvement over Claudio Yacob. Everton's interest in and ability to pay for Chantome is likely tied to the departure of Marouane Fellaini. If Fellaini goes then Chantome would be the sort of player that could replace some of Fellaini's physical play.
