Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has officially moved to Juventus after two years on loan in Serie A at Roma.
Szczesny and Arsene Wenger seemed to have something of a falling out as the goalkeeper never really seemed to be considered as part of the future plan. This despite Petr Cech advancing in years and David Ospina never really convincing anyone he is a Premier League starter. Arsenal were happy to loan Szczesny out for the past two seasons to Roma and have now sold him permanently to Juventus, a club that knows a thing or two about goalkeeping talent. It seems possible that this will look like a bad move in the not too distant future. Wed, Jul 19, 2017 12:21:00 PM

Poland international Wojciech Szczesny will play for Serie A side Roma after rejoining the Italians on a second consecutive season-long loan.

With Petr Cech firmly entrenched as the starter and David Ospina an above average back-up, there really isn't much room in the squad for Szczesny these days. There were rumors around a permanent move to the Italian capitol but instead he moves on another loan deal. Whether this is a long play to continue to provide seasoning with eyes toward eventually being the number one at the Emirates or merely a difference of opinion on Szczesny's sale value isn't clear. What is clear is that Arsenal are keeping their options open with respect to the Polish international.

The Arsenal goalkeeper didn't have a great deal to do as Poland beat Northern Ireland 1-0.

Poland had most of the chances and Arkadiusz Milik cashed in early I'm the second half from the top of the penalty area. After the goal Poland looked the more likely to score the second goal but that goal never came and the match ended 1-0 with Poland moving to the top of the group with Germany still to play.

Arsene Wenger has reassured the Polish goalkeeper that he has a future at the North London club as he leaves for a loan in Italy at Roma for next season.

Petr Cech certainly isn't a long term answer for Arsenal in the net so the notion that Szczesny could reclaim the number one shirt at the Emirates in a few seasons holds water. The loan to Roma could be a great chance for Szczesny to reset his value and return to the upward trajectory he was on earlier in his career. Starting regularly in Rome should keep Szczesny in the starting line-up for Poland as well. With Poland currently leading their Euro2016 qualifying group he could get a great stage to show off any improvement in Rome next summer.

Wojciech Szczesny will start for Arsenal against Aston Villa in the FA Cup final on Saturday but his time with the club may be coming to an end.

Like Lukasz Fabianski before him, Szczesny's last act at the club may be lifting the FA Cup trophy. Arsenal are rumored to be pursuing former Chelsea number one Petr Cech as well as Galatasary's Fernando Muslera. Neither shot stopper will be cheap or easy to pry from their current club. Chelsea will surely do what they can to convince Cech to move outside of the Premier League with PSG mentioned while Galatasaray will put a hefty price tag on their Uruguay international.

Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny will have a fitness test along with defender Laurent Koscielny ahead of Saturdays’ late kick-off at Turf Moor.

Szczesny picked up a rib problem in training during the build-up to the Liverpool match last weekend with Matt Macey stepping up from the development side as back-up but Arsenal are confident the Polish international can recover in time. There was also a positive update from Wenger regarding Laurent Koscielny who limped out of the game at the Emirates in GW31 with "thigh tightness" although tests later revealed a minor hip / groin problem – scan results were positive but "his true test will be outside with the group" on Thursday. Abou Diaby, Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Debuchy are all ready and available for a return to first team action but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be another couple of weeks.

There is uncertainty over who will start in net for Arsenal against Stoke City with David Ospina healthy and Wojciech Szczesny in the doghouse.

Arsene Wenger denied rumors from Danish television that his Polish goalkeeper has been banished from the starting line-up for the balance of the season. He also failed to comment one way or the other on who would start against the Potters. At the beginning of the season Ospina was thought to have a chance to unseat the Poland international and Szczesny's poor choices during and after the Southampton match may have opened the door for the now-healthy Ospina. This one bears watching for sure with fantasy managers exercising caution in selecting either Arsenal keeper.

Rumors from Denmark are reporting that Wojciech Szczesny was fined and told he won't play again this season after a locker room outburst of some sort after the Southampton match.

The source of the rumor isn't as spurious as many on the internet as it came from former Arsenal midfielder John Jensen who a) regularly communicates with Arsenal first team manager/former Jensen teammate Steve Bould and b) was reporting on Danish TV as opposed to a dubious web site or tabloid newspaper. Sczcesny was neither in the starting line-up nor on the bench for the FA Cup win over Hull City but no official statement has been made. It could be nothing but it's at least worth monitoring with Szczesny falling behind fellow young goalkeepers like David De Gea.

Wojciech Szczesny returns to Arsenal's Premier League line-up after a spell out injured.

Emilio Martinez did a solid job deputizing for the Polish international given his youth and inexperience in the Premier League but Arsene Wenger will be happy to have his number one back for Saturday's match with Newcastle. Szczesny might not be quite as happy though given the defense that is likely to be lining up in front of him with Laurent Koscielny, Calum Chambers and Nacho Monreal all out injured.

Wojciech Szczesny suffered a double whammy on Saturday as the goalkeeper was not only taken out by his own defender resulting in the opening goal at home to Manchester United but the injury forced the Polish international off with less than 15 minutes gone in the second half.

In an attempt to clear an in swinging cross from Ashley Young Szczesny came scampering off his line and collided with full-back Kieran Gibbs who was the recipient of an unnoticed Marouane Fellaini push – as both players remained on the floor the onrushing Antonio Valencia slammed the ball back into the box only for the outstretched leg of Gibbs to divert the ball into his own net. Szczesny remained down and following treatment a decision was made to introduce Damian Martinez despite the keeper wanting to continue. Post-match Wenger revealed the problem was not serious – hip injury - although his participation in the UCL against Dortmund is in serious doubt. He joins David Ospina on the sidelines meaning youngster Ryan Huddart could make the squad on Wednesday.

Arsenal have announced what could be a great bargain by signing Nice and Colombia goalkeeper David Ospina on a permanent deal for £3m.

Wojciech Szcesny has continued to improve and grow into the role of Arsenal's #1 goalkeeper, what he hasn't had in recent years is a player capable of mounting a legitimate challenge for his place. In David Ospina, Arsenal has a legitimate alternative and Szczesny has potential competition. With only three weeks until the start of the season it seems likely that Szczesny will start the season as the starter but should he falter or his development stall, it is possible Ospina will be given a run as the first team starter. This move significantly devalues Szczesny in draft/unique ownership-type fantasy leagues.

According to French newspaper Nice-Matin, Colombia goalkeeper David Ospina has agreed to join Arsenal.

Arsenal have been linked to a lot of goalkeepers this summer ranging from potential replacement #1s to candidates to "push" Wojciech Szczesny to back-up options. On the back of a strong World Cup the free agent will likely fall into the "push" category. While he is a reasonable starter he doesn't have the pedigree to be considered the presumptive #1.

Everton's loss to Manchester City guaranteed that Arsenal will finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League next season.

Arsenal qualified for the UEFA Champions League without playing today and that could cause some unexpected decisions from Arsene Wenger down the road. The Gunners' last two matches of the season are meaningless and Wenger will be trying to get the team ready for the FA Cup final later this month, meaning he could make unexpected changes in his lineup. Arsenal have an easy schedule and their players can be a great source for fantasy points in the last two matches but make sure to have someone reliable on the bench in case Wenger throws in a curveball.

Arsenal apparently believe that they have their long term solution at goalkeeper with the news that Wojciech Szczesny has signed a long term extension with the club.

Rumors have been flying about the potential arrival of established goalkeepers at the Emirates for a number of years. The combination of Szczesny's improved performances this season and the signing of a long term extension likely mean that any established keeper brought in at Arsenal will be of the Mark Schwarzer/Brad Friedel variety rather than the established #1 variety. Both Schwarzer and Friedel have been exceptional in their day but are in the twilight of their careers and provide veteran leadership and solid back-up goalkeeping. Arsenal could use such a presence but they are likely out of the running for players like Pepe Reina, Tim Krul or Asmir Begovic unless Sczcesny suffers a serious reversal of fortune.

Wojciech Szczesny injured his ankle in training with the Polish national side.

Arsenal fans will hold their breath waiting to hear the extent of the injury as Szczesny has been in great form this season. His back-up for both club and country would be Lukasz Fabianski.
