Southampton forward Emmanuel Mayuka leaves the club after disappointing three years.
Mayuka joined the Saints in 2012 but has failed to score a league goal in his time at the club. The striker is now headed to Metz on a three-year-deal and he can safely be dropped in all fantasy leagues. Aug 31 - 4:02 PM

Southampton have a healthy squad outside of the normal injuries to Jay Rodriguez and Emmanuel Mayuka.

Mayuka is out for the remainder of the season and Jay Rodriguez is still struggling to recover from his torn ACL. Rodriguez is expected to return in late March or early April, but he has suffered a number of setbacks this season so it's unknown if he'll be able to get fit in time. Everyone else is healthy for Southampton and there is a good chance we see the same starting lineup again this weekend after a good performance against Chelsea last time out.

Emmanuel Mayuka is at risk of missing the remainder of the African Cup of Nations after the Zambia attacker was stretchered off mid-way through the second half of Thursdays’ defeat to Tunisia with a muscular injury.

The Southampton player had opened the scoring for the former champions but a late goal from Tunisia was enough to secure 3 points meaning Zambia must win against Cape Verde if they harbour any hopes of progressing to the knockout phase. Despite limited game time this season Ronald Koeman will be hoping Mayuka is not sidelined for any significant period of time following the injury setback to Jay Rodriguez – no return date – and the continued absence of Sam Gallagher [knee]. The Saints are a little lightweight up front with Graziano Pelle the only recognised out and out striker although Shane Long is capable of playing in a more advanced role.

Southampton striker Emmanuel Mayuka has joined French club Sochaux on a year long loan.

Mayuka wouldn't have received much playing time at Southampton, especially with new signing Dani Osvaldo in the mix. This is a good deal for everyone as the striker can gain some experience and improve before returning to the Saints. The 22 year old has the potential to eventually lead the Saints' attack, but that's a long shot right now and he needs to focus on improving.
