Adam Lallana was a notable omission from the England World Cup squad when it was announced on Wednesday afternoon.
The attacking midfielder has endured an injury-ravaged campaign but following his brief 16-minute cameo against Brighton on the final day, many believed Gareth Southgate would take a punt on the 30-year old. Lallana is said to be devastated by the decision, but he has been added to the standby list despite only playing 235 minutes in the Premier League which includes a single start. There is no doubting his ability, but fitness concerns ultimately have cost him his place in Russia. That said, the Three Lions still have friendly internationals against Nigeria and Costa Rica to come and rarely do they pass without problems. Lallana is joined by midfielders Lewis Cook and Jake Livermore, and Burnley duo Tom Heaton and James Tarkowski, on the back-up list: "All of the guys on standby have been really professional in their approach to this. They recognise there’s still an opportunity," said Southgate following confirmation of his 23-man squad. May 17 - 9:41 AM

Adam Lallana is going global in an attempt to fast-track his recovery from a hamstring related problem.

The Liverpool midfielder has endured an injury ravaged campaign which didn’t start until November after he suffered a thigh muscle strain during the penultimate game of pre-season. Niggling issues and a lack of match fitness have restricted Lallana to a single Premier League start in 2017/18. And after suffering another setback at Selhurst Park earlier this month – an injury which is likely to end any hope of featuring at the World Cup finals – the 29-year-old has travelled to South Africa to receive specialist treatment at the Sports Science Institute in Cape Town. The rehabilitation centre was selected by the club’s medical department to aid his return to fitness, as they had done previously, when Lallana attended the world-renowned Aspetar Clinic in Doha. Meanwhile, Liverpool face West Bromwich Albion on Saturday and Jurgen Klopp is hoping to have defender Joe Gomez back amongst the ranks following his return to full training this week.

Adam Lallana is at risk of missing the remainder of the campaign, and with it, his hopes of appearing at this summer’s World Cup finals.

Following an injury-plagued season, Lallana was already considered a major doubt for the Three Lions squad and only a consistent run in the first-team could convince Gareth Southgate that he was worthy of a place in Russia. However, that ship looks to have sailed, with the 29-year-old set for yet more time in the Liverpool treatment room. Lallana was introduced as a second half substitute at Selhurst Park on Saturday, but once again, his day ended on a sour note following an innocuous looking challenge which left him in a heap. "I haven't spoken with him but I saw him. It's absolutely bad. We don't know exactly what he has, but it looked really serious," Jurgen Klopp revealed in his post-match interview. Lallana was seen leaving the stadium on crutches and reports since suggest he has suffered significant damage to his hamstring.

Adam Lallana once again finds himself in the physio room, this time with a slight muscle tear, as the midfielder will miss Liverpool's trip to Huddersfield Town on Tuesday night.

It is shaping up to be a lost season for the England international. He missed virtually the entire first half of the PL season because of a thigh injury, playing a total of just 41 minutes before finally earning his first and only start of the season against Burnley on New Year's Day. The muscle tear occurred before Liverpool bowed out of the FA Cup over the weekend, will keep him out against the Terriers and has to be considered a major doubt for Sunday's clash with Spurs.

Ragnar Klavan and Joe Gomez have recovered from illness and the defensive duo will feature against Spartak Moscow in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Gomez missed the win at Brighton last weekend while Klavan was only fit enough for the bench, and with Joel Matip sidelined due to a thigh complaint, Liverpool were forced to play Emre Can and Gini Wijnaldum alongside Dejan Lovren. However, following their recovery, Klopp is expected to name a more familiar back four as they aim to progress to the knockout phase of the competition. A draw would suffice, although a win will guarantee top spot, however, a loss would see the Reds miss out if Sevilla avoid defeat. Adam Lallana will not be a part of the squad, but Klopp was quick to allay injury fears when he confirmed the midfielder is "in a very good way" having returned from a long-term injury recently. "We want to build him up with his fitness and all that stuff" said the manager.

Liverpool is hoping to have a trio of starters available for the club's upcoming match against Southampton this weekend.

Adam Lallana and Jordan Henderson both participated in full training for the club on Wednesday while Sadio Mane also took part in certain drills in the hopes of facing his former team this weekend. Lallana has not played this season after suffering a thigh injury before the first weekend of the season, but looks set to return to face his former side as well. Meanwhile, Jordan Henderson looks to have recovered well after withdrawing from international duty due to a minor thigh problem sustained last week.

Adam Lallana is edging closer to a first-team return having missed the previous three months because of injury.

The Liverpool midfielder picked up a serious thigh problem on the eve of the new campaign and is yet to feature in 2017/18. However, following a stint at the Aspire clinic in Qatar, Lallana is now entering the final phase of his recovery. Speaking ahead of the game at West Ham [GW11], Jurgen Klopp revealed the 29-year-old "is close" to returning with the midfielder pencilled in to play in a behind-closed-doors friendly next week. If Lallana is able to come through 90 minutes unscathed, then the ex-Southampton player may have a chance of facing his former employers when the fixtures resume on November 18; although after more than three months out, a place on the bench is most likely. Lallana grabbed 8 league goals plus seven assists as Liverpool pipped Arsenal to a Champions League spot last season.

Liverpool has been dealt a massive blow just a week before the season with an injury to Adam Lallana.

Manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed that the attacking midfielder will miss the next few months after suffering a thigh injury on Wednesday against Atletico Madrid in the Audi Cup. The injury will likely create some breathing room for Georginio Wijnaldum or Jordan Henderson. Said Klopp: "Unfortunately, the damage is such that it will likely mean Adam is out for a couple of months not weeks, so I think we can pretty much rule him out of August and September. Beyond that we will monitor and wait and see. He is a boy with a world-class attitude to everything professionally and he has always come back in good time from injury setbacks since I have been here, so we will see."

Liverpool was dealt a heavy blow on Tuesday with the news that midfielder Adam Lallana will miss around four weeks.

The star midfielder sustained a thigh injury in the late stages of England's World Cup qualifier against Lithuania on Sunday, and the injury has become progressively worse over the last few days. Now, Lallana is set to miss up to a month and has already been ruled out of the club's next three fixtures over the course of the next 10 days, including the Merseyside derby against Everton this weekend. The former Southampton standout is one of Liverpool's top producers with seven goals and seven assists in the Premier League this season. However, Jordan Henderson could slide right back into the starting lineup if deemed fit following a foot injury.

The brief speculation over Adam Lallana's future at Liverpool is over after the club officially announced he has signed a new contract.

The former Southampton midfielder has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham in recent months following a stellar run of form that has seen him record seven goals and seven assists this season. But the 28-year-old has now signed a three-year contract reportedly worth £150,000-a-week to make him one of the highest-paid players at the club. Said Lallana: "Signing for a club like Liverpool is obviously a big thing – but to re-sign shows you’ve obviously contributed enough that the people who make the decisions want you to stay longer. This is a really good place to be at the moment and, for a player who wants to be part of something special, I can’t think of a better club to commit your future to."

Adam Lallana heads into Liverpool's match against Spurs late Saturday as a doubt, with Jurgen Klopp optimistic that the midfielder can overcome his Achilles injury.

Lallana missed a couple days of training in this week's buildup to the match against Tottenham, but Jurgen Klopp hoped to have the England international back in training on Friday, along with Dejan Lovren and Ragnar Klavan, who also missed training with knee and illness issues respectively. It sounds as though Lovren and Lallana have a better than 50/50 chance of making the XI on Saturday, assuming there were no setbacks on the training ground Friday.

Liverpool have not had a good week when it comes to cup play, as they are knocked out at home in the 1-2 FA Cup loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers a few days after ending their EFL Cup run.

Jurgen Klopp made nine changes from the side that lost Wednesday in the second leg of the EFL semifinal, with Loris Karius and Roberto Firmino retaining their positions. The fringe players could not get the job done as Wolves shocked the Anfield crowd, taking a 0-2 lead into halftime. Divock Origi was finally able to pull one back late on, but there was not enough time to complete a comeback. Influential figures such as Nathaniel Clyne and Adam Lallana were not risked as they recover from their respective minor injuries but one has to speculate whether Klopp would have included them if he knew the side he would go on to name would struggle so much. Even Sadio Mane's week has been forgettable, as his missed penalty led directly to Senegal getting knocked out of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Liverpool is on the back end of a hectic fixture list, but the club might have to go without Adam Lallana for the FA Cup on Saturday.

While the club faces Wolverhampton Wanderers in the fourth round of the Cup, manager Jurgen Klopp said he won't throw out a bunch of new faces. But he might be forced to rest Lallana, who sustained a cut that required stitches this week. "But we’ll have enough and a very good team for tomorrow. We will not make 10 changes or something. A few changes we have to make. A real injury problem… Adam Lallana got a cut, maybe you saw it. I’m not sure we should now try, if the stitches are really good enough or whatever. But not more."

Adam Lallana continued his scorching hot form as he equalized Jon Walters' first half tally and then it was off to the races as Liverpool scored three more unanswered for a 4-1 win.

The Christmas season looked to be piling progressively more misery on Jurgen Klopp's men. After Roberto Firmino was pulled over for drunk driving on Christmas Eve the Reds looked decidedly off the pace as their match with the Potters started. Jon Walters scored the opener and Joe Allen nearly made it 2-0 but for a strong save from Simon Mignolet. Lallana converted a deflected Sadio Mane pass for Liverpool's equalizer and the flood gates opened. Firmino put the Reds into the lead a couple of minutes later and Giannelli Imbula (OG) and Daniel Sturridge score in the second half for the final 4-1 tally.

Adam Lallana reinforced Liverpool's title credentials as the overcame Middlesbrough 3-0 at the Riverside.

The Reds bounced back from last weekend's disappointing draw with West Ham with an emphatic win. Lallana struck first, asserting their dominance over the tie with some slick play. The goal came off the back of a Clyne cross to the back post which Lallana headed home. Origi scored the second with his fifth in five games, finishing off a flowing move with the final ball coming from none other than Adam Lallana again. The third again came from good play which Klopp will be proud of. Origi turned provider to tee up Lallana for his brace from 6 yards out and he side footed home.
