Michael Kightly, one of the few Burnley players with any top flight experience at the start of the season, looks to be a forgotten man at Turf Moor these days.
The Clarets do not have deep pockets to put it mildly, so even though Kightly isn't exactly All-World, when he was signed to a permanent deal from Stoke City after a successful loan spell saw him help Burnley gain promotion last season, it was for them, a major acquisition. However, the bigger impact signing has been George Boyd, who has nailed down a wide midfield position opposite Scott Arfield, and Sean Dyche has shown to keep the changes to his XI at a minimum. When Dean Marney went down injured, it could have opened the door for Kightly, but instead Ashley Barnes is out wide with Arfield tucked inside and Kightly hasn't so much as earned an appearance as a substitute for the past two matches. It wouldn't be surprising to see him request a transfer this summer. Sat, Mar 28, 2015 02:37:00 PM

Burnley manager Sean Dyche believes his strikers will blossom after a difficult start to the season.

This is a tough one for us to believe. Burnley went close to 11 hours without a goal before they scored against Leicester this weekend but Dyche believes in not putting demands on his strikers. Instead, he wants to let his strikers build up some confidence. The problem we see with that is the fact that it's hard to build up confidence when you're not scoring goals. We will continue recommending defensive players facing Burnley unless we see a big change in the coming weeks.

Michael Kightly and Ross Wallace scored for Burnley in a comeback tie on the road at Leicester.

Kightly - playing his 200th league appearance - converted late in the first half, six minutes after Leicester got the opener. Burnley conceded the lead minutes later, but managed to get their equalizer in the 96th minute off a perfectly struck free kick from substitute Ross Wallace. They have four draws in their last five matches.

Michael Kightly was loaned to Championship club Burnley as the transfer window closed.

Kightly, once a very promising young winger, will again try to get his career back on track after failing to catch on at Wolves and then at Stoke City.
