Norwich City is hoping to have its captain back for a critical game in the relegation crunch for Saturday's trip to Crystal Palace.
Russell Martin missed last weekend's epic 3-2 win against Newcastle United due to a knock but manager Alex Neil said the longtime Norwich defender is back to training with the club ahead of the weekend: "Russell should be fine. He's done a couple of days work with us and he should be ok for the game." Martin should be expected to start in place of Andre Wisdom, who replaced him last week, while Ryan Bennett could also make way in the starting XI. Meanwhile, Neil also said Nathan Redmond is fit to start after returning early from an ankle injury last week. Fri, Apr 8, 2016 03:38:00 PM

Norwich started the day a place above Liverpool and ended it two places above. Level on points and on the day, but much satisfied with their days work…

Norwich had conceded 21 goals in their last five meetings with Liverpool, so their draw at Anfield will seem like a victory on many levels. It’s been a solid start. But the absence of a clean sheet so far might be a slight concern. As might the lack of an established goal-scorer as the season progresses. Norwich’s 4-5-1 formation away from home will be difficult to break down, but not create many chances. Goal threat’s Cameron Jerome and Nathan Redmond with both have defensive duties to perform. And it seems that Alex Reid doesn’t trust playmaker Wes Hoolahan’s 33-year-old legs on their travels. Center-back Russell Martin scored his third in six matches – racking up more points than Eliaquim Mangala and Chris Smalling ( so far. But Norwich’s season will be defined by his clean sheets, not his goals.

Russell Martin scored the Canaries lone goal but it could have been more as Jack Butland saved Stoke City from a loss at Carrow Road where the scored ended 1-1.

Nathan Redmond, scorer of a goal in each of the season's first two matches, turned provider as he flicked on to Martin who put his shot through Jack Butland's legs to equalize. Stoke City had gone ahead on a goal from Mame Diouf who scored from debutant Xherdan Shaqiri's free kick. It took an exceptional effort from Butland to keep Stoke City level. The Canaries will apparently be no push-overs this time around in the Premier League.

Via Twitter, Norwich City have announced that Russell Martin has signed a new 3-year deal with the club.

Martin has been a mainstay at Norwich, fending off competition for his right back spot, and covering in the center when needed. It wouldn't surprise me to see him line-up at center back at the beginning of next season, though Norwich are trying to strengthen there.
