Frank Lampard started his 400th Premier League game for Chelsea over the weekend.
Lampard moved above David James as the second all-time record appearance maker in the Premier League. This was his 573rd game in England's top flight. Despite starting the game, Lampard registered a poor fantasy output with negative 2 points. He only played the first half and it seems he has been relegated to second on the pecking order at Chelsea. Nemanja Matic is almost guaranteed to start every game and Ramires is getting more playing time, presumably due to fitness and age. Lampard is on the wrong side of 35 and is not getting enough time on the pitch to be premium fantasy option like in seasons past. Mar 10 - 1:28 PM

Frank Lampard came off the bench shortly after the hour mark in Chelsea's last game but will likely start this week.

Lampard played the full 90 minutes in Chelsea's FA Cup match last Sunday and a little less than half an hour against West Ham on Wednesday. He looked fresh and active against West Ham, putting a few shots towards the goal. Only one of those shots was on target and Lampard finished with four fantasy points. He will likely start against Manchester City on Monday and has a history of coming up big in big games, making him an interesting pick this week.

Frank Lampard returned to Chelsea's match day squad but was left on the bench after missing two games with a leg injury.

It sounds like Lampard is not fit enough for a full 90 minutes but is healthy enough to play a part in the game. With the next game coming ten day from now, expect Lampard to be fully healthy and fit. You can start using him in fantasy as soon as next week.

Frank Lampard could return a week earlier than anticipated to face Manchester United in an important Premier League match.

It's unknown if Lampard will be able to make it or if he would start, but it looks like he is very close to a return. I wouldn't trust Lampard in fantasy this week because of the uncertainty, but he can be a good option once he returns with his regular role.

Frank Lampard has been given an expected return date towards the end of January for the leg injury he suffered in Chelsea's win over Liverpool.

Lampard was initially expected to miss at least a few weeks but the timeline given has him returning for Chelsea's match against West Ham on January 29th. John Obi Mikel will be his most often used replacement with Michael Essien or David Luiz coming in for part of the time as well.

Jose Mourinho stated after today's game that Frank Lampard has a muscular injury and will miss some games because of it.

Lampard left Chelsea's game against Liverpool and was replaced by John Obi Mikel. We can expect to see Obi Mikel play alongside Ramires for most of the time Lampard misses but we will also likely see some David Luiz and Michael Essien in midfield as well. Chelsea's schedule eases up a bit after two crucial games in the past four days and they shouldn't miss Lampard too much.

Jose Mourinho believes Chelsea lost their Champions League match against Basel because his team was too tired from the weekend's fixture against West Ham.

With multiple Premier League games coming in a short period of time, Mourinho will likely shuffle his lineup often. Lampard played the entirety of both games and considering his age, don't be surprised to see him on the bench for a few of the next games. John Terry, Gary Cahill, Eden Hazard, Branislav Ivanovic, and Oscar are other candidates to get rested as they've played heavy minutes of late.

Frank Lampard scored his second and third goals of the season, including the first from open play, as Chelsea easily disposed of West Ham United 0-3.

Lampard had endured a ten game goalless drought, the longest of his career in a decade, before finally exploding for two today. The first came early, converting on a penalty when teammate Oscar was brought down in the box. The second came late, with the game already deccided after a deflection off of Eden Hazard landed at Lamp's feet at the top of the 16 yard box, and he fired home with his legendary accuracy. Lampard has been a s guaranteed a starter as you can ask for a Chelsea prospect, but his deeper lying role has resulted in few scoring chances. Much of his goal output these days will be dependent on set piece work.

Frank Lampard will captain England against Chile and receive a golden cap to celebrate his 100th appearance that came against Ukraine in September.

This award highlights Lampard's durability and reliability over the years. He's been as good for England as he's been for Chelsea and despite being 35 years old, he continues to contribute at a top level. Look for him to only play a part of the game as there is no reason to push him in a friendly.

Mourinho has shuffled Chelsea's starting lineup and there are numerous surprising changes.

Frank Lampard and Oscar will start on the bench as the midfield will consist of Ramires and John Obi Mikel behind Eden Hazard, Juan Mata, and Andre Schūrrle. Eto'o will start at striker while John Terry, David Luiz, Ashley Cole, and Branislav Ivanovic will complete the back four. Petr Cech will start at goal as expected. It seems Mourinho will shuffle the midfield starters the entire season, which will make Chelsea players tough to own in fantasy teams.

Frank Lampard played both games for Chelsea over a span of four days showing he is healthy and fit.

Jose Mourinho had mentioned he will monitor Lampard's minutes, but Frankie playing both games suggests Lampard might play more than we expected. It's still early in the season and we don't know how much Lampard will play once Chelsea have Champions League games. Ramires seems to be the preferred man next to him over Michael Essien and John Obi MIkel, so it seems to be a good bet to play Lampard and Ramires most weeks. Continue to follow the story, especially when Chelsea being their European journey.

Frank Lampard scored a stunning free kick goal vs Hull on Sunday showing he can still score with the best of them.

In addition to the goal, Lampard also missed a penalty early, but that turned out to not matter as Chelsea beat Hull 2-0. Lampard seemed healthy and fit and dismissed all concerns about his health. Mourinho said earlier that he will watch Lampard's minutes because of his age so I wouldn't bet on him this Wednesday against Aston Villa, but feel free to use him in the future. He may miss time once the Champion League begins and Chelsea have games more often.

Jose Mourinho has informed us that Frank Lampard is not ready yet for the start of the Premier League season.

Mourinho is hoping to get Lampard some playing time before the beginning of the season in hopes of improving his fitness. Lampard has been dealing with nagging injuries that have prevented him from training in a normal schedule. He played 45 minutes against Real Madrid a few days ago and may play up to 60 minutes against Roma today. It seems Lampard will be back soon, even if he missed the team's first game.

Jose Mourinho has stated that Frank Lampard's situation is no longer "every match: he plays", as the midfielder is 35 years old.

The encouraging sign is that Mourinho believes Lampard's role is unchanged when he is on the field and that has to be a good sign. Lampard started 21 League games last year and still managed to lead all English scorers with 15 goals. Expect a similar performance this year, with possibly a few goals less as age is obviously catching up with him.

Chelsea's record goalscorer is to miss training because of a nagging Achilles injury.

Lampard missed the team's first preseason match with the injury and is now missing training because of it. He will likely miss tomorrow's match as Mourinho has stated he will not take any risks involving Lampard. The 35 year old can probably use the rest and we may not see much action from him until the start of the season.
