Frank Lampard scored the only goal as Manchester City triumphed 1-0 at bottom-of-the-table Leicester City.
Lampard continues to defy age as he scored his 175th Premier League goal to give Manchester City the win at Leicester. The ex-Chelsea man slotted home after good work by Samir Nasri's to keep City within three points of Chelsea at the top of the table. However, Manuel Pellegrini's afternoon was spoiled by two injuries after Eden Dzeko pulled a calf muscle in the warm-up and captain Vincent Kompany pulled up with a hamstring problem. Leicester have big problems of their own, rooted to the bottom of the table and without a win in eleven matches. Dec 13 - 12:06 PM

Frank Lampard has refused to rule out the possibility of extending his loan at Manchester City after an impressive start to his spell at the Etihad Stadium.

Lampard wasn't expected to get much football after joining City on a short-term deal from sister club New York City in the summer, but the 36-year-old midfielder has scored four goals already, including the vital equaliser against his old club Chelsea last month. The veteran is due to return to New York in January, but his form has led to speculation that Manuel Pellegrini may look to extend the loan by at least a month, and the player has not ruled out that possibility. "The temptation is to not get ahead of myself in my career," said Lampard. "I am here until January 1, basically, so I will focus on that and see what happens then."

According to New York City FC head coach Jason Kreis, Lampard will not stay with Manchester City beyond their initial loan deal.

Lampard's stock has been on the rise since joining City on a six-month loan. So much so that multiple reports have suggested the EPL side would like to retain him longer than originally planned. However, NYCFC boss Jason Kreis has adamantly denied this claim, telling reporters "there is no truth to that rumor at all". Lampard will join the 21st club in Major League Soccer in January along with Spanish star David Villa for preseason. NYCFC will play at Yankee Stadium while it looks for a place to build its own stadium.

A tight goalless affair between perhaps the two strongest clubs in the league was given a boost by each side's substitutes, with Frank Lampard's goal equalizing an earlier Chelsea strike, and the two powerhouses settled for a 1-1 draw.

The story of the first half was the rash of yellow cards being handed out by referee Mike Dean, six in total, four of which would be handed to City players. That created a predictable second half problem, when Pablo Zabaleta was handed a second card, paring the Sky Blues down to 10 men. Chelsea would soon score and it looked like they would steal the points at The Etihad, but the appearance of Frank Lampard created a spark and the Chelsea legend burned his former club with a classic strike. It was a much needed result against a Chelsea side that was looking to run away with the table early.

Manchester City have secured former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard on a six-month loan deal.

36-year-old Lampard signed for New York City last month on a two-year contract after his release from Chelsea, but has been loaned out to the MLS franchise owners Manchester City, in a move that will surprise everyone. How much game time the midfielder will get when competing against the likes of Yaya Toure, Fernando, Fernandinho, David Silva, Samir Nasri, James Milner and Jesus Navas remains to be seen, but Manuel Pellegrini insists this is no a publicity stunt. "From next week, Wednesday, he will start working with our team and he will be with us until January," said the manager in his press conference. "He is working with the squad. He will fight for his position."

Lampard has left Chelsea after a great career at the club and will be remembered as a legend by the Blues' fans. He leaves the club with 648 appearances and Chelsea record 211 goals. Chelsea have already signed a replacement in Cesc Fabregas, who will likely take over the central midfielder role. Chelsea have signed Croatian midfielder Mario Pasalic from Hajduk Split.

The Blues lost Frank Lampard this summer but have done more than enough to replace him. They've signed Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas and now have signed a prospect for the future. Mario Pasalic is a 19-year-old central midfielder whose favorite player is Frank Lampard. Pasalic will take part of Chelsea's summer tour and pre-season training but there is a chance that he gets loaned out in order to get regular playing time. Pasalic is not ready to be a starter for Chelsea and he will need to develop a bit more to make it as a regular. The best case scenario for him this season is to be a backup for Fabregas and Nemanja Matic.

Chelsea have signed Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas on a five-year contract.

The ex-Arsenal midfielder will wear number 4 for Chelsea. Fabregas is a versatile player who can play anywhere in midfield and has even been deployed as a striker during his time with the Spanish national team. The midfielder leaves Barcelona after three years saying he has unfinished business in the Premier League. Fabregas will likely be deployed as a central midfielder, right in front of/next to Nemanja Matic. He has proven that he can be effective in the Premier League during his time at Arsenal and should have no problem fitting right in. He will be a great fantasy option next year.

Cesc Fabregas has reportedly passed a medical at Chelsea in anticipation of a move to the Premier League side.

Rumors have been hot this summer about the Spanish midfielder leaving Barcelona to come back to the Premier League and Chelsea are the prime landing spot. If Fabregas has indeed passed his medical, a deal should be finalized soon. The move is an exciting one for Chelsea fans as a pairing between Fabregas and Nemanja Vidic could be a lethal combination. A starting front six of Diego Costa, Eden Hazard, Oscar, Willian, Fabregas, and Matic would put fear in the rest of the Premier League.

He is the club's most decorated player and leaves the Blues as a legend. There have been numerous sources linking Lampard with new MLS team New York City FC and we believe a move to the United States is imminent. Despite that, Lampard has stated he will not decide until after the World Cup.

Chelsea's Frank Lampard is set to join new MLS team New York City FC after 13 years with the Blues.

Lampard's contract at Chelsea has run its course and the Blues legend seems to have preferred a move to New York over staying in the Premier League. The truth is, Lampard has visibly slowed down and is no longer the player he used to be. His playing time was cut short last season and was expected to decrease even more. The money, the great city of New York, and the promise for more playing time makes sense for a move in this stage of his career. New York City FC are also rumored to be after striker David Villa. Villa and Lampard would give them a fantastic core to build around.

Frank Lampard's future at Chelsea remains uncertain after the midfielder was included on Chelsea's list of released players.

Being on the released list doesn't mean that Lampard won't be in a Chelsea uniform next year but it does raise a question about his future. There have been transfer speculations about Lampard but there has also been talk from both Lampard and Chelsea that there is mutual interest between the two parties. There could be many reasons why they haven't reached an agreement yet. Chelsea have a strict policy of doing a maximum of one-year deals with players over the age of 30 and Lampard might be looking for a longer term deal. Another possibility is that the English international might be looking for regular team football, something he likely won't get at Chelsea. Expect a deal to be reached after the World Cup, whether with Chelsea or another club.

Frank Lampard and Rio Ferdinand have been linked with free transfers to newly promoted Queens Park Rangers.

Some people just don't learn. After spending a season in the Championship because their overpriced veterans and mercenaries were terrible in the Premier League, Queens Park Rangers have been linked with, of course, two more aging stars who will cost a lot of money and likely not play up to their salaries. After paying Loic Remy, Adel Taarabt, Julio Cesar and others to play for other clubs last season, this seems like terrible business but it will make headlines.
