Holtby has been in good form for Fulham as they look to escape from near certain relegation. Ashkan Dejagah will likely deputize for the German, despite being a different type of player. Fulham will miss Holtby's vision and ability to control a match's tempo. Apr 18 - 12:27 AM

Tottenham midfielder Lewis Holtby has joined Fulham on loan until the end of the season.

Holtby joined Tottenham a year ago but has only been on the fringes of the first team this season and has been concerned the lack of football will make any hopes of a spot in Germany's World Cup squad impossible. As a result, Spurs have allowed the 23-year-old to join Fulham on loan and he could go straight in to the squad for their home game against Southampton this weekend.

Lewis Holtby's first Premier League goal gave Tottenham an important 2-1 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage.

It was an open game with chances at both ends, but it looked to be another rough night for Andre Villas-Boas when Fulham took the lead after half-time. However, a fine strike from Vlad Chiriches 15 minutes from the end gave Spurs hope before substitute Holtby's wonder-strike sealed the points for Spurs. Hugo Lloris was also instrumental in the victory making three wonderful saves.
