Branislav Ivanovic has joined Zenit St Petersburg for an undisclosed fee on a two-and-a-half-year deal.
While the deal had been in the works for sometime, Chelsea confirmed Ivanovic's exit on Wednesday. The 32-year-old leaves Stamford Bridge after a decorated nine-year stay, during which the Serbian international made 377 appearance for the club and won eight major trophies. Ivanovic will be best remembered for his last-gasp header that clinched the Europa League trophy in 2013, but also for his role during the club's best years. The defender won the Champions League, Premier League twice, FA Cup three times and League Cup, but had fallen out of favor this season and started just six league matches. Feb 1 - 5:47 PM

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte confirmed that the club is awaiting a transfer decision from Branislav Ivanovic this week.

Ivanovic has received a concrete offer to join Zenit St. Petersburg while reports suggest West Bromwich Albion is also looking to make a last-minute move before Tuesday's transfer deadline. However, Conte said that longtime Chelsea defender has yet to make a decision on his future: "When one player has the habit to play every game and it happens that you are not playing regularly, it's not easy to accept this decision. Ivan knows well the situation and I'm pleased if he remains here, if he stays with us. But in this situation, for sure, the player must make the best decision for him, for his family." The Serbian international made a rare start in the FA Cup against Brentford on Saturday, where he scored a goal in what could be his final Chelsea match if he decides to leave.

Chelsea is slowly seeing its defense return to full strength after veterans Branislav Ivanovic and John Terry were passed fit.

Said manager Antonio Conte: "[Terry's] fit to start. He's in a good shape. Tomorrow I'll decide the starting XI but John is fit. He trained very well this week, last week, and he's ready. For Ivanovic, he's better. He started to train with us yesterday, also today, but it's normal after an injury he needs a bit of time to find the right shape to come back with our squad." Ivanovic has missed the last two Premier League matches with a knock while Terry has been held out of the last five league matches despite making the bench for the last two. Expect to see the duo in action for Wednesday's League Cup match with West Ham.

Branislav Ivanovic scored a goal on Thursday night as Serbia won their first match of UEFA World Cup qualification, defeating Moldova 2-0.

The Chelsea defender captained Serbia in fine form by heading in a corner to give his nation a 2-0 lead 37 minutes into the match. The victory saw Ivanovic score his 12th international goal while his club teammate Nemanji Matic was sidelined, due to suspension. It was also a day to celebrate for the Blues at the Under-21 level. Four Chelsea players featured in England's U-21 victory over Kazakhstan, which secured a spot for England in next summer's European U-21 Championship finals. Midfielders Lewis Baker, Nathaniel Chalobah and Ruben Loftus-Cheek all played the full match, while Tammy Abraham made his debut as a late substitute.

Branislav Ivanovic is healthy and is ready for week one of the Premier League.

There were reports Ivanovic was dealing with a shoulder injury but he's started Chelsea's last two matches and will be ready for week one. He is Chelsea's expected starter at right-back this season and carries fantasy value through his involvement in the attack.

Branislav Ivanovic will likely miss the first three weeks of the season.

Ivanovic is dealing with a shoulder injury and will miss the start of the season. He has a good chance to return by week three, but there's even a guarantee. Given Chelsea's lack of full-back options, they'll need reinforcements or for Ivanovic to stay healthy going forward.

Branislav Ivanovic could miss the start of the new Premier League season after dislocating his shoulder during last week’s 3-0 friendly win over RZ Pellets in Austria.

Ivanovic returned to the Cobham Training Centre on Thursday for further tests and initial reports indicate the that the 32-year-old, who has faced heavy criticism in recent times following a string of lacklustre performances, will be side-lined for around three-weeks making him a doubt for the opener against West Ham. Bertrand Traore could deputise at right-back, although Antonio Conte will continue in his quest to bolster the Chelsea backline with Kalidou Koulibaly [Napoli] and Kostas Manolas [Roma] featuring high of the Italians summer wish list. Meanwhile, the Blues have enquired about Dutch international defender Stefan de Vrij, who could cost around £15 million and are reportedly ready to trigger the release clause in Victor Lindelof's contract at Benfica.

Branislav Ivanovic could miss the final game of the season as he struggles to shake off the groin problem he suffered at the Stadium of Light last weekend.

Guus Hiddink was forced into a defensive reshuffle at Anfield on Wednesday following the loss of Ivanovic to injury and John Terry to suspension. Once again, the Dutchman opted to play John Obi Mikel in the back four with Baba Rahman starting at left-back - Azpilicueta was moved across onto the right. Matt Miazga failed to make the match day squad and Chelsea could start with the same defensive unit, although Thibaut Courtois (illness) will return in place of Asmir Begovic if the goalkeeper is passed fit. A hamstring injury will keep Diego Costa on the side-lines with Bertrand Traore favourite to start. Loic Remy is injured and Alexandre Pato / Radamel Falcao are way down the pecking order. Willian will be assessed after tweaking his hamstring against Liverpool.

Cesc Fabregas leveled the match in the 75th minute through a Diego Costa assist, while Branislav Ivanovic won it late in the 89th minute. Chelsea improve to 11th place with the three points, and are now only five points behind sixth place.

Chelsea started the second post-Mourinho era well by beating Sunderland 3-1.

The Blues started the match in great fashion with a Branislav Ivanovic header and a Pedro finish just minutes later. Oscar slotted from the penalty spot at the beginning of the second half and the match was over at that time despite Sunderland's lone goal in the 53rd minute. The Blues looked comfortable and enjoyed 68% possession, outshooting Sunderland 17 to 11. The new era is off to a good start.

Branislav Ivanovic will be available for selection in week 12 after missing a few weeks with a hamstring injury.

It's hard to say whether Chelsea have played better without Ivanovic and knowing Mourinho, we won't be surprised to see Ivanovic start in week 12. We don't love the prospect of playing Ivanovic in fantasy leagues this week and we would avoid him regardless of whether or not he starts.

Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic is still not fit after suffering a hamstring injury a few weeks ago.

He has been ruled out, along with Thibaut Courtois, while everyone else is either fit or waiting on a late fitness test. Ivanovic has really struggled with quick wingers this season and it's unknown if he'll regain his starting spot upon his return. Kurt Zouma or Baba Rahman will most likely start in his place, but both are mediocre fantasy options at best.

Branislav Ivanovic has been ruled out for Week 9 with a hamstring injury.

Ivanovic was injured in Serbia's qualifying win over Albania this week and will miss some time from action. This could be a blessing in disguise for Chelsea as Ivanovic has been horrific in recent weeks while Mourinho continues to trust him mindlessly. We expect Baba Rahman to start in his absence while Cesar Azpilicueta may move to his natural right-back position.

Branislav Ivanovic and Nemanja Matic will be assessed after the Chelsea duo limped out of Thursday nights’ dramatic qualifying win in Albania.

Aleksandar Kolarov and Adem Ljajic both struck in time added on to secure all 3-pts for Serbia to set-up a nail-biting finale to Group I. Denmark [currently occupy second place] remain just 1-pt ahead of Albania. Despite their indifferent start to the season, Ivanovic and Matic both play key roles domestically and Jose Mourinho will be counting on their availability as Chelsea take on Aston Villa [game week nine] in a match they must simply win. Ivanovic was said to have sustained a hamstring injury early in the second half while Matic suffered a similar muscle problem late on.

Branislav Ivanovic continues enjoying one of the weirdest spells of job security we've seen in recent years.

Ivanovic has been one of Chelsea's worst players by a wide margin yet he still continues getting the start at left-back. He has been exposed week after week by opposing wingers and yet Jose Mourinho continues to employ him at the back. Chelsea are not earning any clean sheets at the moment and Ivanovic is not doing anything worthy of fantasy consideration. He shouldn't be used in daily leagues and should be left on the bench in draft leagues.
