Chelsea's underachieving midfield just became a lot less crowded after the club announced Ramires has joined Chinese Super League club Jiangsu Suning.
If the reports of a £25 million move are true, it would be a shrewd piece of business for the Blues, who spent £18 million to buy him from Benfica in the summer of 2010. With Chelsea, Ramires put together a sparkling resume, winning every single European and domestic trophy available to the club, including both Champions League and Europa League. But the 28-year-old Brazilian has fallen out of favor at the club since the departure of Jose Mourinho, making just two appearances as a second-half substitute in the last seven Premier League matches. Ramires is probable to return to Chelsea's squad for their upcoming UCL match on Wednesday.

Ramires might force Nemanja Matic or Cesc Fabregas out of the starting lineup as Mourinho searches for consistency and effort. Even if he starts, he is not worth holding onto in any fantasy leagues at the moment.

Ramires and John Terry have been ruled out for week 15.

Both are struggling with injuries and Mourinho won't take any chances. Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas should start in midfield while Gary Cahill and Kurt Zouma handle the center-back duties. Both Terry and Ramires haven't been good fantasy contributors this season so they can be safely dropped in draft leagues. Terry could be worth holding onto in deep leagues where clean sheets are important.

Ramires is doubtful for Chelsea upcoming trip to White Hart Lane.

Ramires has a muscle injury and Jose Mourinho stated he'd "wait and see". Mourinho also noted that Ramires is in the same situation as Terry, who is very doubtful for the match, and it doesn't seem like Ramires will play Sunday. Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas will likely draw starts.

Jose Mourinho's days by all accounts were already numbered, but after a 1-3 loss in front of the home crowd to Liverpool, the odds are he is for the chop any day now.

Things started out promisingly enough for the Blues. In the fourth minute, Cesar Azpilicueta sent a cross into the area to find a streaking Ramires who was left unmarked and the midfielder executed the free header. Liverpool did not flinch though, taking seven shots in the first half to Chelsea's one, the final of which leveled the match right at the halftime whistle. Once again, it was poor defending by Chelsea that led to their downfall, as they conceded twice more in the second frame without offering much threat of their own. Recent words after the match is that betting odds for Mourinho's sacking has been suspended, so the bookies are pretty much guaranteed that the Special One is preparing to clean out his office in the next day or two.

Ramires has signed a new deal at Chelsea that will keep him at the club until 2019 unless sold.

Ramires has once again found a spot in Chelsea's rotation as Jose Mourinho likes his motor and energy. Ramires is not a great fantasy player as he gets too many bookings and doesn't attack enough to bring fantasy points, but he can be a solid contributor in real life when given the chance. Avoid him in fantasy in all but the deepest of leagues.

Juventus have targeted Chelsea midfielder duo Ramires and Juan Cuadrado.

Juventus are trying to replace a number of midfielders who left the club this summer and on their shopping list are Ramires and Juan Cuadrado. The Blues are willing to part ways with Cuadrado, who has struggled to adapt to the Premier League, but Jose Mourinho will reportedly put up a fight for Ramires, who he sees as an important part of the rotation. The likes of Oscar, Victor Moses, and Willian will all gain extra fantasy value if Ramires and Cuadrado were to leave the club.

Ramires has taken to social media to reassure supporters that he is okay after the Chelsea midfielder was a late withdrawal from the side which took on Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.

Juan Cuadrado came in for only his third league start [since moving from Fiorentina] but the winger once again failed to live up-to his $40 million price tag before being replaced at half-time. Meanwhile Brazilian TV reported that Ramires had been taken to hospital because of kidney pain although there was no official press-release from the club. Post-match Jose Mourinho confirmed that he would be cutting his celebrations short to visit the midfielder, however it wasn’t until 24 hours later that Ramires was able provide an update - renal complication - amid growing speculation of a serious problem. The player is hoping to feature again this season but having won their fourth Premier League title on Sunday Mourinho may decide not to risk Ramires.

Chelsea midfielder Ramires has recovered from a thigh injury and is ready to help Chelsea fight for the title.

Ramires has missed several weeks with the injury and is finally playing without pain. Chelsea assistant coach Steve Holland said he is pleased Ramires is back and noted that he was pain-free against Watford. Ramires provides good depth for Chelsea but is not a fantasy option considering Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic are in front of him on the depth chart.

Chelsea midfielder Ramires will return from a suspension and be available for selection for Chelsea's match against Leicester tomorrow.

Ramires returns from his suspension, which started at the end of last season, but isn't likely to start. Chelsea have brought in Cesc Fabregas to play Ramires' role from last season and Fabregas was fantastic in Chelsea's first match. Ramires will be used off the bench this year so it's unlikely he turns into a good fantasy option in any format.

Chelsea midfielder Ramires is suspended for the first Premier League match due to violent conduct last year.

Ramires was caught on camera last season throwing an arm at Sunderland's Sebastian Larsson and was later suspended for four matches. He has served three of them already during last season but one more remains to be served when Chelsea face Burnley in week one. Ramires is likely going to be featured off the bench this season as Chelsea have brought in Cesc Fabregas to replace him.

Jose Mourinho has stated that midfielder Ramires is not for sale despite Chelsea signing Cesc Fabregas.

We anticipate that Chelsea's best midfield will consist of Nemanja Matic, Fabregas, Oscar, Willian, and Eden Hazard but Ramires can play a multitude of positions and will be the number one backup should any of those players go down. Chelsea competed in a number of different competitions and the busy schedule will require players like Ramires being involved often. Ramires shouldn't be a fantasy option at the start of the season but if Chelsea's midfield suffers injuries, he can be a good option.

Ramires was caught on video throwing an arm at Sunderland's Sebastian Larsson. It was missed by the referee, but the FA has charged him with violent conduct, and he accepted the charge and will miss the next four matches for Chelsea (carrying over to next season).

Ramires, and the rest of the Chelsea squad are presumably focused on their Champions League second leg next week, but it's hard to see Mourinho just rolling over for a rival. Regardless, Ramires joins the likes of John Terry, Frank Lampard, and Petr Cech on the sidelines.

Chelsea midfielder Ramires is set to return to the Blues squad after serving a three match ban for a nasty challenge on Karim El Ahmadi a month ago.

Ramires hasn't played much lately as he also served a one match ban in the Champions League due to an accumulation of yellow cards. What's even worse for Ramires is that he has 9 yellow cards on the season, meaning that he will have to serve a one match ban if he picks up a yellow on Sunday. The midfielder is known for his reckless tackling and he'll need to be overly cautious in this one.

Ramires was sent off late for a nasty stamp on Aston Villa's Karim El Ahmadi. It was a straight red and will see him miss Chelsea's next three matches.

Ramires was visibly frustrated as Chelsea lost control of the match after Willian's earlier dismissal. He was running with the ball up the sideline at the death and left a foot in on El Ahmadi after the ball ran out ahead of him. Villa were well worth their 1-0 victory, holding a successful high defensive line for much of the match, and then taking their chance with Chelsea down to 10 (and eventually 9) men.
