Queens Park Rangers were defeated at Loftus Road 0-1 by Greek side PAOK in their final match of the preseason.
While there were no goals to increase the appeal of QPR's attacking players, there were some appealing notes to take from the loss. Jordon Mutch was given his first start in the blue and white stripes as he comes off a season where he on a short list of fantasy contributors from Cardiff City. Even more intriguing is Harry Redknapp's decision to start Junior Hoilett up top alongside Charlie Austin. Hoilett was already on the radar after a brace earlier in the preseason in which he played "in the hole". He is a potential out-of-position bargain midfielder that looks to be a regular in QPR's XI. Junior Hoilett started the comeback by drawing a penalty that Charlie Austin converted. Austin scored again in extra time to see QPR on to the final.

After a nil-nil draw at Wigan, QPR went down early at home to a James Perch goal and looked in deep trouble throughout the first half. Leading goalscorer Austin's 19th and 20th of the season saw them through and they will now face Derby County at Wembley for the chance to return to the Premier League. Fail in that attempt and they could be in big financial trouble given their massive wage bill.
