West Brom have confirmed Chris Brunt will miss the remainder of the season and with it, this summers’ European Championships in France.
The Baggies released a statement today confirming Chris Brunt will be out for at least six months after undergoing knee surgery in France. The 31-year-old was stretchered off against Crystal Palace last Saturday and further tests revealed that Brunt had ruptured his anterior cruciate ligaments following an awkward landing. An immediate decision was taken to go under the knife. "It’s a big blow for Chris and everyone is feeling for him right now," said West Brom coach Tony Pulis. "It will be disappointing for us not to have him for the rest of the season because he is a terrific player who gives the team great balance. But obviously it is made even crueller because it has denied him a career highlight with Northern Ireland this summer." Mar 3 - 12:50 PM

Chris Brunt ended a traumatic week by going off early with a leg injury sustained without any significant contact from another player.

Brunt started the week by having a coin thrown at him by one of his own supporters toward the end of Albion's FA Cup match last weekend. Things were going extremely well against Crystal Palace until Brunt battled Wilfried Zaha for the ball. Brunt's leg gave out before any contact occurred between the two players and he was stretchered off. No immediate prognosis was given but it looked like at least multiple weeks out if not significantly longer.

Chris Brunt joins James Morrison and Jonny Evans on the sidelines as West Brom travel to Newcastle in Week 25 Premier League action.

The combined absence of Brunt and Morrison is bad news for a West Brom side that has had significant trouble generating a meaningful attack this season. Tony Pulis isn't known for free-flowing football but at least some attacking capability is required to actually win matches. Perhaps the absences in midfield will motivate Pulis to return Saido Berahino to the starting line-up.

Chris Brunt looks doubtful to overcome his calf injury as West Brom face off with local rivals Aston Villa at the Hawthorns in Week 23 action.

With James Morrison a longer term absentee (two months) and Brunt likely out as well the Baggies are likely to struggle to score. Stephane Sessegnon is likely to play a prominent role in filling the gap but he is historically a very up and down performer. It could well be a weekend to avoid the West Brom attack and invest in Aston Villa against what Tony Pulis described as a "threadbare" Baggies side.

Tony Pulis is sweating on a number of players ahead of this weekends’ derby. With James Morrison and Darren Fletcher already sidelined, the pair could be joined in the treatment room by Chris Brunt.

Brunt was forced off - clutching his calf – after just 17 minutes against Bristol City in the FA Cup on Tuesday and his involvement this weekend remains in question. In his absence, West Brom could be forced into a defensive reshuffle. Jonny Evans is one option at left-back with summer signing James Chester able to cover centrally. Jonas Olsson will be checked as he continues to struggle with a niggling hamstring complaint. The Swede is also suffering from a bout of illness – along with Saido Berahino - as a sickness bug sweeps through the Baggies camp.

Chris Brunt will miss the Baggies' Week 14 trip to Upton Park as he serves a suspension for the accumulation of yellow cards.

Brunt, who was at his best against Arsenal in West Brom's Week 13 win over Arsenal at the Hawthorns, will miss out as Tony Pulis' side looks to keep the good times rolling against London teams. The Baggies will lose Brunt but will get back Gareth McAuley who served his own suspension against the Gunners. Look for Pulis to go with four center back-types in Brunt's absence with James McClean and Calum McManaman looked to for width in the attack.

Chris Brunt injured his hamstring against Port Vale in the League Cup in mid-week and had to be substituted. He remains a significant doubt for Saturday's match against Stoke City.

Brunt, probably still somewhat angry after James Morrison bullied his way into taking a penalty against Chelsea and subsequently missing it, may have to wait for a more satisfying league outing. His hamstring complaint seems likely to force him out of this week's trip to the Britannia to face Stoke City. Brunt's absence would open up an opportunity for another Baggies player (McManaman?) to take kicks and corners and even a penalty if one were to be awarded. Let's hope it isn't Morrison who gets that spot if the need arises.

Chris Brunt went against type and produced big defending phantom points on his way to a fourth consecutive double digit fantasy point total in the Yahoo format.

West Brom have been up and down over the past six matches but Chris Brunt has been consistently registering double digit fantasy performances. Weeks 32 and 33 were highlighted with what we generally associate Brunt with, assists. Weeks 31 and 34 were unusual in that Brunt did most of his damage on the defensive side of the ball. In the Week 34 nil-nil draw with Liverpool, the attacking midfielder totaled six passes intercepted and four tackles won to go with two successful crosses. Unusual times but Tony Pulis generally gets all of his players playing on the defensive side of the ball.

Chris Brunt has been suspended for the Week 30 trip to Manchester City for verbally abusing a match official last time out.

The Baggies will be without two suspended players as Brunt sits this one out for his verbal abuse and Claudio Yacob serves the final match of his suspension picked up against Aston Villa. The Brunt absence will certainly hurt more as Tony Pulis has a number of options available in the holding midfield role while "wide creator" isn't nearly as well-stocked at the Hawthorns.

Alan Irvine made the same announcement last week and Brunt didn't feature but Irvine again announced that his skipper would be healthy for the visit of the defending champions on Boxing Day.

West Brom could have used Brunt last weekend when they couldn't hold a 2-0 lead against one of the few teams in the table below them. In Week 18 the test will be far tougher with Manchester City coming to the Hawthorns. Probably not a week to expect a great deal from Brunt given that he's likely to be at least a touch rusty and that's probably not where you want to be facing a clearly superior opponent.

Chris Brunt is back to full health for West Brom's critical trip to Loftus Road, expect him to start.

After two weeks out of the line-up with a hamstring injury, Chris Brunt returns to action for what will be an important match-up at the bottom of the table. West Brom have risen above the group at the very bottom of the table but things are still packed tightly enough that the Rs could draw even with the Baggies with a win. Alan Irvine will be happy to have his captain back for the occasion.

West Brom captain Chris Brunt is set to miss another match as his hamstring will not be ready in time for the Saturday visit from Aston Villa.

The Baggies have a number of options in midfield to make up for the absence of Chris Brunt with James Morrison, Graham Dorrans, and Stephane Sessegnon having played in front of Craig Gardner and Youssuf Mulumbu in the Week 15 nil-nil draw at the KC Stadium. With Brunt out, it seems likely that the midfield will remain unchanged unless Alan Irvine brings in Saido Berahino, who was on the bench vs. Hull City, for one of his midfielders.

Chris Brunt has been inconsistent in recent season but showed vintage form in Albion's 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.

There was a time when Chris Brunt was a strong fantasy option week in and week out producing assist, successful crosses, corners won, shots on target and even the occasional goal. It has been a couple of seasons since we've seen that sort of form from the West Brom winger but Week 9 saw him rekindle his form with an assist, three successful crosses and a surprising five tackles won in a strong all-around effort. It's probably too much to hope that this marks a return to his former ways on a consistent basis but it was fun to remember when he was a threat every week.

West Brom return from the international break remarkably healthy with Chris Brunt the only regular facing even a chance of missing out.

Brunt returned from international duty with a minor issue but Alan Irvine has indicated that there is a decent chance that he will recover in time for the Monday match with Manchester United. "Chris Brunt was the only one who came back with a problem but we're hopeful. He came back early and fortunately that gave us time to work with him." That's certainly not a guarantee so be cautious starting him in unique ownership formats unless you have someone else from the United vs. WBA match to sub in at the last minute as it is the last of the match week.

Chris Brunt has committed his future to Alan Irvine's club as he signed a three-year contract extension on improved terms at the Hawthorns today.

The creative midfielder has been in and out of the line-up due to fitness and form concerns but remains one of the Baggies' more talented players. Assuming he can stay healthy he will hope to be a more regular staple in the starting eleven for Alan Irvine this season.
