Daniel Agger wants to play some football. Brendan Rodgers doesn't appear interested in him doing that for Liverpool after bringing in Dejan Lovern. Arsenal have been linked with a move for the Danish center back.
Trading out Thomas Vermaelen for Daniel Agger seems like treading water. Both players have had stretches of strong play in the Premier League but most of those stretches happened multiple years ago. While neither is old per se, both seem to have lost something as well as being injured more frequently than you'd like from a deputy whose purpose it is to play when others are tired or injured. And if, like Vermaelen, Agger wants to play a lot of minutes he doesn't figure to be happier at Arsenal than he was at Liverpool. Definitely an odd move to be rumored but if he just wants a change of scenery then it could work out for all parties. Tue, Aug 12, 2014 12:01:00 PM

Brendan Rodgers revealed that Daniel Agger is receiving treatment on a knee injury sustained during Liverpool's US preseason tour, offering no timetable on his return.

With Dejan Lovren looking to be a nailed-on starter this season for the Reds, Agger has become surplus to Rodgers' needs and rumors indicate Liverpool are ready to unload the center back, but that may be difficult to do if Agger is still ailing by the end of the transfer window.

With Brendan Rodgers making moves to upgrade the roster, two former starters may be on their way out of Anfield with Daniel Agger and Lucas Leiva both linked with continental moves.

Both players have been injured on a fairly regular basis in recent seasons and Brendan Rodgers didn't seem to be their biggest fans even when they were healthy. That usually signals that it is time to move on. Lucas has been linked with a move to join former manager Rafa Benitez at Napoli while Agger has long been linked with Barcelona, presumably as a reserve option in defense. The Barcelona opportunity may have passed but it seems likely that both players will be moving on as Rodgers continues his squad makeover.

Daniel Agger started Liverpool's last game and helped the Reds to a clean sheet in their 3-0 win over Southampton.

Agger has battled a series of injuries and missed five games due to a calf injury last month. He is finally back and looks to be the preferred choice at center-back for Brendan Rodgers. Liverpool have looked bad in defense but if he can help them improve, he could be a decent choice in fantasy at a £10M. Liverpool travel to Old Trafford next.

Daniel Agger will miss the next three to four weeks for Liverpool with a calf injury he picked up against Oldham in the FA Cup.

Mamadou Sakho "looks fine to be in the squad for the weekend" according to manager, Brendan Rodgers, which is a lucky break for the Reds. Sakho has made an amazingly speedy recovery from his own hamstring injury and will now be needed at Stoke City.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is "hopeful" that defender Daniel Agger will be fit for the home match against Southampton.

Agger injured his side when he jumped to avoid dropping a dumbbell on his foot before the match at Swansea last week. If he can't make it, new signing Mamadou Sakho will keep his place after an assured performance against the Swans.

After missing out on the likes of Thiago Silva, David Luiz, and Marquinhos, Barcelona are once again being linked with Daniel Agger, Liverpool's classy defender.

Amazingly, the list of the world's most coveted defenders includes a host of Brazilians. What is this world coming to? Agger would fit Barcelona's ball-playing ethos but his loss would be keenly felt by Liverpool, who are themselves trying to bolster their defensive ranks.

Daniel Agger has been linked to big-spending Monaco, but Liverpool is determined to hold on to the Dane.

Agger is the one center back that Liverpool plan to keep for next season, and should they sell enough other players, they won't need to cash in on him.
