Swansea center back Chico Flores has completed a move to rejoin former manager Michael Laudrup at Lekhwiya in Qatar.
The departure of Chico, who started 30 league matches last season, leaves the Swans a bit thin at center back. Ashley Williams will start at one of the two spots but the current roster only offers Jordi Amat and Kyle Bartley as obvious replacements to partner Williams. Not a great situation for a relatively new manager to be in coming off of a very disappointing season. Presumably the Swans will be in the market for a starting center back over the next few weeks. Swansea's Chico Flores missed the team's match against Southampton due to a minor toe injury.

Chico has been a big part of what Swansea have done this year and he was missed as Southampton stole the three points late in the match. Chico's injury is not considered serious and he has a chance of playing in Swansea's final match next weekend. The good news is that Swansea are now mathematically safe from relegation and they will be hoping to rebound from a season in which they failed to meet expectations.

Chico Flores was sent off after collecting a second yellow card in the match and Swansea City could not handle Chelsea with 10 men, eventually conceding and losing 0-1.

The Swans are finding themselves creeping into dangerous territory with another loss, as they are just three points clear of relegation, though with a healthy goal difference. They were without Michu, who had an ankle complaint and did not make the squad, though to be fair, he has had little influence since returning to the XI. After being booked for a foul on a streaking Willian, it took two minutes for Chico to find himself issuing a clumsy challenge on Andre Schurrle just outside the area, and referee Phil Dowd sent him off after a few moments of consideration. Chelsea were not sharp but being a man down and forced to remove Pablo Hernandez to replace Chico with another center back kept the Swans from taking advantage. They will look to rebound next week with their trip to Newcastle.

After receiving a red card against Crystal Palace last weekend for denying a goalscoring opportunity, Chico will be ineligible for Swansea City's next match, serving a one-match ban.

Chico is set to miss out on Swansea's hosting of a struggling West Brom this weekend, creating a nice budget prospect for this weekend in Jordi Amat. Amat has deputized at center back for both Chico and Ashley Williams before and there is no reason to expect Garry Monk to turn to someone else. Chico will be back for the double gameweek, but Amat for 5.3m this weekend looks a good bargain.

In a game where it was anticipated that Michu would not start, the attacking midfielder actually wound up playing the full match as Swansea City fell behind but played to a 1-1 draw with Hull City, thanks to a goal from Chico Flores.

Though Michu didn't provide his usual headaches for defenders it was to be expected that he would show some rust after a long injury layoff. He appeared to come out of the game without any knocks so it is a positive sign for his potential going forward. Chico meanwhile can give credit for his goal to a laser of a cross by Jonjo Shelvey which deflected off the Spaniard's midsection and onto target. Unfortunately, he picked up a 5th yellow card late on, and will be disqualified from the Swans trip to Norwich.

Swansea manager Michael Laudrup has scolded Chico Flores in the media for his habit of diving and how it may be detrimental to the team.

Fearing that more than their share of calls will start against the Swans, Michael Laudrup has told Chico Flores to cut out the theatrics. The manager even went so far as to compare Flores to Luis Suarez and Gareth Bale in terms of not getting the benefit of the doubt if his actions continue. The Spanish center back has already accumulated four yellow cards this season and faces a suspension if he gets his 5th.
