Nathan Baker has signed a new deal with Aston Villa that will see him at the club for four more years.
Baker has been a part of the Aston Villa academy since he was eight years old and came through their ranks to become a part of the first team. Baker seems to be bound for a reserve role if Micah Richards and Ciaran Clark remain healthy, but he can slot in across the entire back-line as a backup and figures to remain a part of the Aston Villa rotation for the foreseeable future. Nathan Baker found a way to improve his form despite a season riddled with injuries.

Baker started the season slow but later improved his composure and looked solid in the second half of his 13 appearances. He helped Aston Villa on the way to four clean sheets and wasn't booked a single time this year. He was solid in a win against Liverpool late in the season and can challenge for a starting spot next season depending on who is left amongst the Aston Villa defenders.

Nathan Baker will miss Aston Villa's last match of the season with a knee problem.

Baker is still recovering from his knee injury and has been ruled out of Aston Villa's match against Burnley this weekend. Villa have already secured a spot in the Premier League for next season so it's unlikely that they risk Baker ahead of their FA Cup final six days later. Nathan Baker's fantasy season is effectively over and he will hold very little value for next season as well.

Nathan Baker became the second Aston Villa defender within the last week to suffer a knee ligament injury which is almost certain to end his season.

Baker was drafted into Tim Sherwood’s FA Cup semi-final side following the news that Ciaran Clark had suffered a medial knee ligament injury which would keep him out until next season but the defender lasted less than half an hour. The news will serve as a hammer blow for Villa who pulled off an unexpected win over Liverpool to reach the final at Wembley while the Claret and Blues sit just 4-points above the relegation zone. Ron Vlaar and Jores Okore – themselves no stranger to the treatment room – are tasked with staying fit and helping Villa to retain their top-flight status "They're the only two we're going with between now and the end of the season, so we're not blessed in defensive areas," which suggests Phillippe Senderos is also sidelined for the rest of the campaign.

Nathan Baker remains a doubt due to a knock he's been carrying for a while.

Baker remains out along with Philippe Senderos. Aston Villa's back line lacks depth at the moment but the good news is that Ciaran Clark and Ron Vlaar both made it 90 minutes on the pitch against Leicester City earlier this week. Jores Okore is also healthy and ready to jump in if needed. Baker and Senderos are not worth owning in any leagues.

Aston Villa defender Nathan Baker remains out with a knee injury and remains without a timetable.

Baker has missed over a month now and continues to be out. His return date is not known and even in case he returns soon, his playing isn't guaranteed with Ron Vlaar, Ciaran Clark, and Jores Okore all playing well. Baker can safely be dropped from all fantasy leagues.

Aston Villa defender Nathan Baker has been ruled out for gameweek 13 with a knee injury.

Villa are also missing Ron Vlaar and Philippe Senderos on the defensive side and that leaves them extremely thin at the position. They were able to scrape by last weekend with Ciaran Clark and Jores Okore starting at center-back, but the duo is not as experienced as Vlaar and Senderos and could prove troublesome this weekend. Aston Villa have an easy matchup against Burnley this week but their defenders are only for the adventurous fantasy manager - consider them high risk, high reward options.

Aston Villa were defeated thoroughly by Everton, 3-0, marking their fourth consecutive loss in the league.

On the bright side, the losses were all against the best clubs in the league and it would be difficult for any side to rack up many points over that stretch. Still, one can't help but feel the culture of losing may take some time to repair as Villa look ahead to a much friendlier schedule. They need Christian Benteke to step up if he is to be the central figure in their attack. He has been either injured or in poor form for a very long time now. Charles N'Zogbia, another potential attacking weapon, did absolutely nothing again and is only hurting the cause. The lack of Fabian Delph did not do them any favors either. To add one more insult, there was an injury. Nathan Baker had to leave in the first half with a knock and may be a doubt for next weekend.

Nathan Baker suffered a nasty chest wound from a high Alexander Tettey tackle against Norwich City over the weekend but is expected to be fine.

Baker played through the pain and there has been no reports of his injury being worrisome. He posted a picture of the wound (in the link below) and it certainly looks like it hurt, but we are not worried about Baker's availability going forward.

Nathan Baker is expected to be fine for Aston Villa's next game after recovering from a concussion.

Baker missed the Liverpool match with a concussion he picked up against Arsenal but is expected back for Villa's next game. It will be interesting to see how Villa line up defensively when everyone is healthy with the addition of new signing Ryan Bertrand. With Villa playing West Brom next, Baker could be a good plug in play at a decent price but I would have a reliable backup in case Baker doesn't make the starting lineup.

Nathan Baker will miss the match against Liverpool because he has not yet recovered from the concussion he suffered last week.

Aston Villa are struggling at the position right now and will certainly miss Baker. Ron Vlaar and Ciaran Clark will probably start at center-back and academy defender Janoi Donacien will be the most likely backup.

Villa defender Nathan Baker will not be considered to face Liverpool this weekend.

Baker was concussed last weekend against Arsenal and is "still feeling groggy". Ciaran Clark and Ron Vlaar will pair up at the back for Villa after their experiment last weekend with three center backs.

Nathan Baker was taken out of Villa's game with a head injury that turned out to be a concussion.

The concussion is not considered very serious but Baker could certainly miss out this weekend. If he can't go, Ciaran Clark, Matthew Lowton, and Ron Vlaar will likely all start. Check back later this week to see if there are any updates on his status for the weekend but I would avoid him regardless of the concussion as Villa have a tough matchup against Liverpool this weekend.

Despite reports last week that Nathan Baker and Ciaran Clark would be back from injury, Baker still hasn't returned to Villa's squad.

Baker wasn't in Villa's squad yesterday against Rotherham and reports Baker's return day as September 14th. Jores Okore has started the last two Aston Villa games instead of Ciaran Clark so he might be working his way to a starting job in the Villa backfield. Continue to follow the health and status of Villa's defenders as one of them is going to emerge as the permanent starter soon.

Nathan Baker and Ciaran Clark are both expected to be healthy and fit for Aston Villa's clash against Liverpool this Saturday.

Nathan Baker started the first game of the season but injured his ankle and was replaced by Clark, who ended up starting the second game. It seems like Baker is the first choice and he should start tomorrow, but I wouldn't bet on a Villa defender against Liverpool, especially without knowing 100% that he is back.
