Injury problems continue to mount after Martin Kelly became the latest member of the Crystal Palace treatment room.
Roy Hodgson revealed the defender "felt a twinge" in his hamstring following a foul as he stretched for the ball in time added on in the first half. "It’s very annoying because we’ve worked hard to avoid muscle injuries. He was moving away from a player who was pulling him back," mused the 70-year-old. "We won’t know until tomorrow how damaging that hamstring pull is. They can be very damaging, or we might be lucky because he came off straight away and as it wasn’t a violent movement. It might be that he is not going to be out for as long as he might have been." Fortunately, the Eagles have a readymade replacement in Mamadou Sakho, himself just back after nearly two months out. Hodgson also confirmed that Julian Speroni will have a scan on Monday after suffering a knee injury in training. Feb 4 - 4:12 PM

With a 0-0 draw with West Brom, Crystal Palace continues to slowly work its way up the table with another point.

The Eagles are now unbeaten in their last four Premier League matches under Roy Hodgson and have a favorably fixture list in the festive period to continue to climb. A win against former manager Alan Pardew would have seen them go even on points with the 17th-placed Baggies, but a point saw the side jump out of last place, leapfrogging Swansea City and West Ham (for now). However, the club's attack continue to struggle with its second straight scoreless game, where it managed only two shots on goal. The only new face was Martin Kelly, who filled in on the back-line with the club sporting a shortened bench after three games in one week.

Crystal Palace's Martin Kelly is the bargain defensive option for Week 14.

After becoming a firm favourite through the opening two months of the season Kelly was dropped by Neil Warnock in Week Eleven after a couple of poor mistakes, and the decision appears to have been the kick in the butt that the ex-Liverpool man needed. Kelly has returned to the starting XI with renewed concentration and energy and at less than £5million the right-back offers terrific values for Crystal Palace's home match-up with goal-shy Aston Villa.

Martin Kelly was dropped from the Crystal Palace starting line-up for the Week 12 trip to Old Trafford.

After defeat to Sunderland last Monday Palace boss Neil Warnock sprung a surprise by starting Adrian Mariappa at right-back for the 1-0 defeat at Manchester United, suggesting he was unhappy with Kelly's performance in particular. At 44% ownership the ex-Liverpool man is one of the most popular players in the Yahoo fantasy game, with many of us holding him at his entry price of £1million, so we'll admit we're concerned about this demotion to the bench and will be monitoring the team news over the next ten days prior to the Week 12 deadline.

Martin Kelly was a star fantasy performer in Week 2 despite his side Crystal Palace's defeat to West Ham.

Kelly was recently signed from Liverpool, is starting on the right-hand side of the Palace defence and looks like he'll be a prolific point scorer in the Yahoo fantasy game. The 24-year-old picked up eight fantasy points in Week 2 thanks to a host of tackles won and passes intercepted and can still be added to your fantasy team for less than £2million. He could prove a handy cheap option to keep on your bench as back-up to your starting XI.

Crystal Palace's Martin Kelly is the bargain of Week 2, available at just £1million in the Yahoo Fantasy Premier League game.

Kelly was recently signed from Liverpool, is set to start on the right of the defence, has a good chance of helping Crystal Palace keep a clean sheet against West Ham and costs just £1million in the Yahoo game. What more do you need to know? He should be in your squad and on the bench at the very least.

Martin Kelly has Tweeted out that his move from Liverpool to Crystal Palace on a permanent move has been completed.

The move is a boon for Kelly's projected playing time as well as for fantasy managers in the Yahoo game who can pick up a potential starter for the price of 1.00 (he's an attractive-but-not-rock-bottom 4.5 in the format). What remains to be seen is how Tony Pulis shuffles the deck with Kelly and Brede Hangeland having arrived since last season. If Hangeland and Kelly go into the starting line-up then Joel Ward may move up into midfield meaning that all three players have big fantasy value. The worst case scenario would be Ward and Kelly rotating at uncertain intervals.

In an effort to actually see the pitch, Martin Kelly is reportedly close to a move from Liverpool to Crystal Palace.

According to the Daily Mail, the right back has been told he can leave Anfield given the presence of Javier Manquillo, Glen Johnson and Jon Flanagan ahead of him at the right back position. A move to Crystal Palace would offer at least the hope of playing time given the presence of mostly makeshift right backs at Selhurst Park last season. Adrian Mariappa and Joel Ward are both capable of playing right back but both are more comfortable playing centrally. If Kelly makes the move and can regain both health and form then Palace could be stronger in multiple positions for the move. Oh, and Yahoo! fantasy managers can be excited by the prospect of a 1.00 player scoring points on the bench.
