Aston Villa will reportedly offer Ciaran Clark a contract extension after a fantastic season by the defender.
Clark was Villa's best defender this season and has impressed Tim Sherwood as well as fans. It seems Sherwood wants to commit to the defender and offer him a contract extension that extends his time at the club. He is currently on a deal that ends next summer, and teams are already after him. Aston Villa would be wise to sign him on a longer deal, as they can only benefit from having him on the books, either as a way to make money in a sale or as a solid piece they can build around. Ciaran Clark was the best Aston Villa defender this season despite a late injury that ruled him out for the last seven matches.

Clark featured in 29 matches after initially being plugged in for injury relief, but the 25 year old was impressive all year. His biggest knock would be his bookings, 10 of them, including a red card. Outside of his tendency to foul, Clark was impressive and registered 24 blocked shots and 47 passes intercepted. He wasn't a fantasy stud by any means, finishing with 141 Yahoo! points. He goes into next season as a starter but he's a late round fantasy pick at best.

Ciaran Clark is almost certain to miss next weekends’ FA Cup semi-final after suffering a knee injury during Saturdays’ win at White Hart Lane.

Clark lasted just 18 minutes before a medial knee ligament injury ended his day and the defender will now be assessed with his season hanging in the balance. Nathan Baker is the man most likely to come in having returned to fitness but Jores Okore is another option from the bench while Philippe Senderos and Aly Cissokho are medically fine but lacking fitness. Gabby Agbonlahor is another injury doubt for Wembley due to a hamstring complaint - scan on Monday - but Carlos Sanchez is definitely out following his sending off for two cautionable offences. The Colombian midfielder will resume his domestic duties at Manchester City in GW34.

Aston Villa's players continue to struggle in both real life and fantasy.

This was a horrific week for Aston Villa. They lost yet another match, this time to Newcastle, and their players couldn't produce any fantasy worthy stats. The best scorer of the week for them was Ciaran Clark, who came out with eight fantasy points, but there isn't a single player we would recommend owning in the Yahoo! game in the coming weeks. There is just too much inconsistency and lack of upside.

Ciaran Clark was sent off for getting a second yellow after being a part of a scuffle at the end of the Leicester - Aston Villa match today.

Clark will likely only serve a one match ban during gameweek 22 but it's worth noting that the scuffle continued while the teams were headed to the dressing room so more suspensions might be handed out in the next few days. With Clark and Ron Vlaar both out, Jores Okore and Nathan Baker will likely start at center back for Villa next week.

Aston Villa defender Ciaran Clark will be assessed after a back injury forced the Irish defender off during Sundays’ home draw against Sunderland.

Clark has enjoyed the last month in the Villa starting eleven with Ron Vlaar and Philippe Senderos both struggling with injury recently – the central defender has formed a solid partnership with Jores Okore in the heart of Paul Lambert’s back four. However injury now threatens to keep him out of the New Year’s Day clash at home to struggling Crystal Palace with Okore ready to slot back into the side after he was rested to help protect him against the heavy fixture schedule following his long lay-off this year. Paul Lambert also confirmed the club may appeal the straight red card Fabian Delph received against the Black Cats – the first of his career – as he overstretched to tackle Jordi Gomez.

Ciaran Clark will be available for selection for Aston Villa's FA Cup match on Saturday.

Clark missed out against Sunderland with a one match ban for accumulated yellow cards but will return against Sheffield United. Clark was replaced by Ron Vlaar, who just returned from injury and will likely miss the FA Cup match in an attempt to be fit for Villa's next Premier League game.

Ciaran Clark will miss Aston Villa's match against Sunderland due to a one match ban for accumulated yellow cards.

Clark picked up his fifth yellow of the season against Swansea on Saturday and will be suspended for a match. Aston Villa may rush Ron Vlaar back from injury to replace Clark in the starting lineup. Defender Joe Bennett is close to full fitness and may also return.

Ciaran Clark is back to training after being out with an illness but is still a danger in fantasy.

The Aston Villa back line has been a bit of a mess lately and there has been a decent bit of rotation with Ciaran Clark and Nathan Baker. Paul Lambert has played different formations that involve anywhere between three and five defenders and we can't really trust any of them right now except Ron Vlaar. With Villa playing against Romelu Lukaku's Everton side this weekend, avoid any of their defenders this weekend.

Ciaran Clark or Nathan Baker are likely to earn a start for Villa tomorrow in a favorable matchup against Norwich City.

If I had to guess, I would put my money on Clark starting in defense for Aston Villa tomorrow. Despite that, I won't be playing Clark nor Baker in my fantasy squad because the risk of one not playing is too big. If you really want to play a Villa defender, go with Matthew Lowton.

Ciaran Clark left Villa's game today due to a cut on his head but the injury seems minor and Paul Lambert said Clark should be back Saturday.

Clark is playing against Liverpool Saturday so he probably shouldn't be a part of your fantasy team anyway. He seems to be the second option behind Nathan Baker, who is dealing with an injury himself, so if Baker continues to be out, Clark could be an option when Villa play weaker teams. If both Clark and Baker are injured, Okore should get the start, but this seems unlikely right now.
