Bolton have completed a deal to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Barry Bannan on loan until the end of the season.
Bannan has shown plenty of technical ability in the past but struggled to hold down a first team place under both Ian Holloway and Neil Warnock during his first 18 months at Selhurst Park. Having had a month to assess his squad, new Eagles boss Alan Pardew has agreed with his predecessors and allowed the midfielder to leave the club for Championship side Bolton until the end of the season. Ten-man Crystal Palace beat Hull to record their second win of the season, thanks to a solitary Barry Bannan goal.

What a massive win this is for Palace, who have improved vastly since Ian Holloway left last month. It looked bleak for the Eagles after Yannick Bolasie was sent off fifteen minutes from time for a foul on Jake Livermore, but Bannan's first goal for the club was enough to seal victory. The three points moves Palace off the bottom of the table, with new manager Tony Pullis set to start work on Monday.

Crystal Palace have continued their deadline day dealings by signing Scotland international Barry Bannan from Aston Villa on a three year deal for an undisclosed fee.

Bannan was seen as a star of the future when he first surfaced at Villa three seasons ago, but he has rarely featured under Paul Lambert and had become frustrated at the lack of playing time. The midfielder has played under Ian Holloway before while on loan at Blackpool and he will be hoping this move can kick-start his career. Bannan is a creative player capable of excellent set piece delivery and he will improve Palace's options in the middle of the park.
