Jack Colback scored but Newcastle's slump continued as Spurs beat the Magpies 3-1 at St. James' Park.
St. James' Park has become one of the less intimidating grounds in the Premier League over the second half of the season. John Carver's side has lost six straight since the end of February and looked bad doing it. Jack Colback contributed a goal that briefly drew Newcastle even but Christen Eriksen and Harry Kane scored as Spurs dominated possession on the road. Apr 19 - 1:06 PM

Jack Colback's suspension and subsequent two quiet games has seen his fantasy price steadily decline in recent weeks to a very appealing figure.

After a disappointing two point return against Arsenal, Colback has seen his price drop to 7.76m in the Yahoo game, representing solid value at the midfield position. Unlike other players who have been similarly underpriced; Dusan Tadic, Nacer Chadli and Seb Larsson, it doesn't require traditional attacking points for Colback to put up nice scores. Whether the past two games are an anomaly or a sign of a dip in form will require another week or two to determine, but if he returns to the level of production he was offering most of the season, then investors will be rewarded without spending very much.

John Carver will need to carefully consider his options ahead of next weekends’ visit of Aston Villa after Jack Colback picked up his tenth caution of the season meaning the midfielder will automatically serve a two game ban.

Newcastle were embarrassed at the Etihad on Saturday and the writing was on the wall within a minute when the returning Vurnon Anita clipped Edin Dzeko for Sergio Aguero to score the second fastest penalty in Premier League history. Injury had decimated the Geordies during the build-up to this game and the contest was effectively over on 21 minutes as Dzeko expertly controlled a sublime Silva driven pass to make it three nil – however it will be the loss of full-back Daryl Janmaat to a muscular problem which will cause the biggest concern for Carver as it leaves Newcastle in deep defensive trouble. His potential absence means the Geordies are left with only three fully fit defenders and as a result Ryan Taylor will be in line for only his second league start within the last three years.

Jack Colback continued his fantastic first season with Newcastle United by scoring his third league goal to give the Magpies the initial advantage in the 74th minute, but Stoke would level late on and Newcastle had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

In a season where we have seen flashes of form from the likes of Papiss Cisse, Ayoze Perez, and Moussa Sissoko, it has been Colback who has been their most consistent contributor. After going without a goal in the first 18 weeks of the season, he now has three in six. While he is extremely unlikely to continue a goal per two matches pace, the fact that he was producing in fantasy terms without needing to score means that his new found scoring touch makes what is already a sound commodity now a virtual necessity in your XI if you are looking for a consistent scorer that is virtually fixture proof. Today, he slotted in a shot after he was fed by Moussa Sissoko and sneaked the ball in off the post. The Magpies will try to take advantage of a shell-shocked Manchester City side next.

Newcastle United will feel disappointed to come away with only a point at home to a relegation-zoned Burnley, having allowed the Clarets to erase a Magpie advantage three times, though Jack Colback continued his fine season with a goal and an assist in the 3-3 final.

Steven Taylor started the scoring on the day by heading in a Colback corner on the quarter hour. About ten minutes later, having let Burnley draw level, Colback sent a long strike into goal after being teed up by Daryl Janmaat. Newcastle's third goal would come from a nimble-footed dribble by Ayoze Perez into the area. He found Adam Armstrong in the center of the box and Armstrong fed the ball wide to Moussa Sissoko for the score. This makes back-to-back weeks with a goal from Colback making him a serious fantasy candidate although the player will need to be assessed before game week 21 after picking up a slight hamstring problem.

Newcastle midfielder Jack Colback finished week 16 with double digit fantasy points.

This is two weeks in a row now that Colback has played well and he raises an interesting option when Newcastle face Sunderland at home this weekend. He has provided fantasy points in a variety of ways the past two weeks and that leads us to believe he could continue his hot streak this weekend. We still don't see him a great long-term option but ride him while he's hot.

Newcastle midfielder Jack Colback provided 14 fantasy points for managers this week in the club's win over Chelsea.

Colback had a series of phantom points against the Blues that added up to an impressive score but his lack of scoring prevents him from being a good fantasy option. Colback has zero goals, one assist, and five yellow cards on the season and shouldn't be considered in the Yahoo! game. In deeper formats, feel free to use Colback as a bench player since he can provide you with phantom points from time to time.

Newcastle midfielder Jack Colback has been quietly solid for his team this season and has also provided fantasy managers with respectable returns.

Colback picked up an assist along with a number of defensive stats this past weekend to end with 11 fantasy points. He's also been solid on the season, averaging seven points at his £ 9.26M price tag. It's hard to justify playing someone with a low ceiling like Colback's, but he can be a solid piece who will usually give you at least 4-5 points per game.

Newcastle United midfielder Jack Colback has returned to the club for further treatment following his withdrawal from the England squad on Wednesday evening.

It was thought that Jack Colback had a chance of featuring in England’s European qualification game against Switzerland on Monday but coach Roy Hodgson has now confirmed the Ginger Pirlo " … took a very nasty kick on the back of the calf. We were hoping he would train with us but he can't do that, so it is better to send him back." Although hugely disappointing for the player who had hoped to make his England bow the news that the injury is impact rather than a tear will mean the former Sunderland player will have a chance of lining up when Newcastle travel to Southampton in game week 4.

Newcastle have ended a 500+ day transfer drought with the signings of midfielder Jack Colback and young forward Ayoze Perez.

Things are starting to move in the right direction at Newcastle after the departure of Yohan Cabaye in January. Jack Colback isn't a replacement for all that Cabaye took with him to PSG but he represents a much-needed fortification in midfield and a nice start to the summer shopping season as he came in on a free transfer. French second division forward Ayoze Perez is more one for the future but supporters will hope he represents more cost effective shopping from France of the variety that landed the Magpies Cabaye.

According to reports on the Chronicle Live web site, Newcastle are poised to win the race for the signature of Sunderland midfielder Jack Colback.

Available on a free transfer, Colback has drawn interest from West Ham, Aston Villa and his current employers Sunderland in addition to what appears to be Newcastle's winning bid. The midfielder grew up supporting the Magpies and will relish the chance to line up for his boyhood club and help improve a midfield suffering from the loss of Yohan Cabaye and the failure of Hatem Ben Arfa and Sylvain Marveaux to live up to expectations.

Sunderland have guaranteed themselves Premier League status for next season after beating West Brom 2-0.

Jack Colback and Fabio Borini each scored to give Sunderland a 2-0 win over West Brom and guarantee their club Premier League status next season. The Black Cats were comfortable from start to finish and showed a level of play they didn't possess at the beginning of the season. Lee Cattermole was commanding in the middle and caused West Brom problems by going forward. Sunderland have done the impossible by winning four matches in a row, going from the bottom of the table to 14th place in a matter of weeks. They beat Chelsea, Cardiff, Manchester United, and now West Brom on the way to securing a position outside of the relegation zone.

Jack Colback stunned Cardiff City with a late equalizer to round out the scoring in an eventful 2-2 game.

Cardiff City controlled a big part of the game and deservedly led 2-0 but Sunderland put together a comeback late in the game. Jordon Mutch and Frazier Campbell put Cardiff ahead before Steven Fletcher and Colback scored two late goals to tie the game. Sunderland deserved to earn a point in the game after pressuring Cardiff for the last half hour but are still in last place and need to find a way to win games to get out of the relegation zone.

Jack Colback has expressed his delight at returning to his favoured midfield berth under new Sunderland boss Gus Poyet.

Colback and his central midfield partner Lee Cattermole were instrumental in Sunderland's victory against Newcastle and one would expect the same pairing to take to the field against Hull in Week 10. It is telling that out of the 16 players purchased by Paolo Di Canio in the summer, only two - Jozy Altidore and Andrea Dossena- were involved in the Tyne-Wear derby, and both have played in the Premier League before. Poyet appears to be backing his squad memebers with experience of England's top flight to get his new club out of trouble, and who could argue with that approach?

Left-back Andrea Dossena has become Sunderland’s second signing of transfer deadline day.

Dossena, 31, has joined Sunderland on a one year deal. The Italian left back has played in the Premier League before during in an unsuccessful spell at Liverpool back in 2008, but he has been a success back in Italy and has 10 caps for the national side. Dossena's arrival will allow Jack Colback, who has been covering at left-back, to move back in to midfield.
