Ben Watson and Steve Berghuis scored second half goals to level Watford's pre-season friendly against Wimbledon at two before a late Alfie Egan goal won it for Wimbledon.
It's still early and Watford chose to field a team that mixed experienced starters like Gomes, Janmaat, Prodl, Britos, Holebas, Capoue, and Watson with some who were further from the core last season due to either injury (Okaka), loan (Berghuis), or age (Doucoure and Success). Clearly, the Hornets have a ways to go as they not only lost but allowed three goals to a lower division side. Still, given that there is a new manager's approach to implement, there isn't too much to be read into an early pre-season loss. Jul 16 - 9:49 AM

Ben Watson got the goal that eluded him last week against Spurs but it wasn't enough as Manchester City came back late to win 2-1 at Vicarage Road.

Watson is making a reputation for himself of putting corner kicks in extremely dangerous spots. Against Spurs on Monday the ball was inches away from crossing the line directly from his corner before Spurs went down and scored the winner. This week his corner went in with the barest of assistance from Aleksandar Kolarov's head but there was still no joy for the Hornets. Watford saw City get goals from Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero in the dying minutes of the match to turn victory into disappointing defeat.
