Swansea City continue their hunt for talent as the transfer deadline looms, and they may land a big one on loan from Bayern Munich in exciting young midfielder Renato Sanches.
Well, an addition like Sanches would certainly be a jolt in the Swansea attack and perhaps get their supporters a bit more optimistic than the Sam Clucas signing last week, though to be fair, Clucas had a solid debut in Swansea's first win of the season. Sanches earned international attention during last summer's Euros, helping Portugal to the title. He has a promising developing future as a physical midfield presence with attacking threat. He would likely see plenty of playing time if he plays in South Wales and should be scooped up in most draft formats when made available. Wed, Aug 30, 2017 10:58:00 PM

Tom Carroll scored his first goal for Swansea City and it helped the Jacks to a 2-0 win over Stoke City, as the Jack continue their struggle to rise above the relegation zone.

Paul Clement told his squad that today's match was a must-win and the Swans did not disappoint. They enjoyed the benefit of an early goal, as Fernando Llorente turned the ball in from a Gylfi Sigurdsson corner on ten minutes. They suffered a blow a few minutes later, as Leroy Fer collided with Jack Butland and could not continue. The Jacks preserved their lead into halftime and past the hour mark, but they got lucky when they conceded a penalty chance. However, Stoke wasted the opportunity and, less than a minute later, Tom Carroll took a short pass from Jordan Ayew and sent a deep left-footed strike that looped in over the keeper and sealed three massive points. The Swans are still in the relegation zone, with Hull being the likeliest club they could catch, but the Tigers also won today, so the pressure continues in South Wales.

Swansea City have completed the transfer of midfielder Tom Carroll from Tottenham on a three-and-a-half year deal.

Swansea City continue their January shopping with their second signing of the day and third of the month in Carroll. Carroll has been completely blocked from 1st team action with Spurs, especially with the emergence of Harry Winks this season, having played a total of one minute in league play this season. Now 24 years old, it makes sense for Tottenham to sell. Carroll is familiar with the Welsh side, spending a season there on loan in 2014/2015. Swansea are showing they are willing to buy players in this window in an attempt to survive a drop to the Championship, but, like Martin Olsson signed earlier today, Carroll is not the kind of impact player to lift a club from the bottom of the table. There is not much fantasy appeal in any format, except perhaps deeper draft leagues, and that's only if Carroll can nail down a regular starting role.

Tom Carroll is back in the mix for Mauricio Pochettino's midfield ahead of Tottenham's trip to West Ham United tomorrow evening, though Mousa Dembele is still a few days away from returning.

Carroll suffered an Achilles injury a couple of weeks ago and, with Dembele also missing time, it has afforded the likes of Nabil Bentaleb and Ryan Mason some playing time. Carroll is one of many candidates to partner Eric Dier and would have a better chance if Dele Alli were to miss out with a foot problem or utilized in the attacking three. Otherwise, it could be Bentaleb tomorrow night, who is itching for pitch time. Dembele has already been pegged by Pochettino as probable for the North London derby on Saturday.

Tom Carroll will miss this weekends’ FA Cup fifth round tie against Crystal Palace through injury but Mauricio Pochettino remains "hopeful" that the midfielder could return by game week twenty-seven.

Pochettino was speaking ahead of Spurs' match on Sunday following his return from Florence where Tottenham earned a 1-1 draw in the Europa League first leg game versus Fiorentina. The Argentine boss revealed that Tom Carroll could miss up-to ten days after suffering an Achilles injury which forced him off at half-time in the Stadio Artemio Franchi while Hugo Lloris will also miss out due to a shoulder complaint. Clinton N’Jie and Jan Vertonghen remain on the sidelines due to respective knee injuries.

Tom Carroll is battling to save his season after suffering an ankle ligament injury while on international duty with the England under-21s.

Carroll captained England in Prague last Friday scoring the only goal in a narrow win but the Tottenham loanee may not wear the Swansea colours again with a 4-6 week initial absence suggested. Fortunately the Jacks are pretty well stocked in midfield and although the news is disappointing for the youngster Garry Monk has a number of options following the arrival of Jack Cork in January and the form of team mates Sung-Yueng Ki and Glyfi Sigurdsson. Indeed Carroll has failed to make the match-day squad since the away win at Turf Moor in February suggesting his time at the Liberty Stadium is up. Swansea are also waiting on the results of Jefferson Montero’s [thigh] scan and the winger remains a doubt for GW31 while Leon Britton is hopeful of overcoming a back problem.

Swansea City have signed Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tom Carroll on a season-long loan.

22-year-old Carroll is highly rated at White Hart Lane but is not yet able to break in to the first team, so new Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has also allowed him to move on loan to gain experience. The midfielder spent last season on loan at Queens Park Rangers and made 26 appearances as the Londoners won the Championship Play-Off final to return to the Premier League. Swansea are currently without injured pair Leon Britton and Jay Fulton, so Carroll will boost their midfield options.
