Southampton earned a massive three points with its first win in 13 matches with a 3-2 victory against West Brom.
The win pulls Southampton out of the bottom three and all the way up into 14th place, which reflects how tight it is at the bottom. Saints had to overcome an early deficit after giving up a header to Ahmed Hegazi in the fourth minute. But the floodgates opened just before the half with Mario Lemina's thunderous strike in the 40th minute from 25 yards out. Just three minutes later, James Ward-Prowse's cross found Jack Stephens for a header and the lead. Then, after the half, Ward-Prowse continued his impressive form with a free kick that found its way around the wall and into the back of the net. Feb 3 - 12:06 PM

James Ward-Prowse scored two first half goals but Southampton couldn't hold the lead and had to settle for a 2-2 draw at Vicarage Road.

We have been waiting for the James Ward-Prowse breakout since he arrived as the mooted next prospect off the Southampton assembly line. It hasn't really worked out yet for Ward-Prowse but today's match was a ray of hope for a club that needs attacking options to come good.

Southampton scraped past Fulham in the FA Cup Third Round thanks to a 1-0 win at Craven Cottage.

Southampton entered the tie without a win in nine attempts and had won just once on the road since the arrival of their new manager back in the summer. The valuable win came courtesy of a James Ward-Prowse goal, with the young Englishman scoring in the first half after reacting first to an unlucky bounce off a Fulham defender. Jack Stephens hit the bar and Gabbiadini skied a chance whilst 1 on 1 with the opposition goalkeeper in the Saints' other good opportunities whilst Fulham's Ollie Norwood sent a header in a promising position wide. Pellegrino will be relieved to come through the match with a win given that he played a strong side to get it, though he will again be frustrated that his players couldn't find the net more with Charlie Austin injured.

Southampton crashed out of the EFL Cup on Wednesday evening after a 2-0 loss to Wolves at St. Mary's.

Wolves, who were not fielding many of their much-hyped new arrivals from Portugal, competed well with last season's finalists and were deserved victors. The first half featured little of import and the away side took the lead by heading in from a corner after the hour mark. They grabbed their second in the dying embers of normal time. Twice Jeremy Pied fired wide while McQueen saw one effort turned away by the goalkeeper but overall the Championship side were better. James Ward-Prowse started the game having been benched last weekend which does not bode well for his chances of starting in Gameweek 3.

Southampton struggled to break through against a league-leading Spurs defense in a 2-1 loss at White Hart Lane.

The Spurs back-three became the first team to shut down new Saints signing Manolo Gabbiadini, who had scored in every game entering Sunday since arriving from Napoli in the winter transfer window. Southampton could do nothing to stop Christian Eriksen's brilliant solo effort in the 13th minute, but then saw its deficit doubled after Steven Davis brought down Dele Alli inside the penalty box. But James Ward-Prowse added to a successful week, one that saw him called up to the England national team for the first time, and pounced on a mistake from former teammate Toby Alderweireld to notch a goal for Southampton.

James Ward-Prowse tripled his Premier League goal total asize Southampton cruised to a 3-0 win over West Brom.

The first Saints goal was a free kick from the top drawer delivered by James Ward-Prowse. The second came also from JWP, this time from the spot. The icing on the cake came courtesy of Dusan Tadic who beat Boaz Myhill from a tight angle. The Saints have exploded back into the top half after a miserable run to end the first half of the season.

James Ward-Prowse will miss gameweek 36 with a suspension.

Ward-Prowse was sent off for getting a red card against Sunderland and will miss this weekend's match against Leicester City. He will return in week 37 against Aston Villa. With Ward-Prowse, Morgan Schneiderlin, and Dusan Tadic all out, Sadio Mane will most likely earn another start. Mane is the best fantasy prospect from Southampton this week.

James Ward-Prowse has signed a new contract that has him staying at Southampton until 2020.

The youngster has 17 appearances this season despite sitting out several weeks through injury and has appeared every bit as advertised. He rose through the ranks of Southampton's system and has been fantastic this season. This is a great sign for Southampton, who have a good piece for the future in the 20 year old and someone they could potentially sell for a big profit. Ward-Prowse is a good fantasy option as he will likely start again if Morgan Schneiderlin and Victor Wanyama continue missing time.

Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse is healthy enough to return to the bench this weekend.

The winger/midfielder has been out for about two and a half months due to a fractured foot but is finally getting back to full fitness. He will be fit enough to be on the bench this weekend when Southampton face Burnley this weekend. With the Saints suffering a number of injuries in recent weeks, Ward-Prowse could establish a solid spot in the rotation in the next few weeks, in which case he could become a fantasy option. For now, we wouldn't hurry adding him.

James Ward-Prowse was an expected to miss Tuesday night’s Capital One cup game at The Emirates but what was originally thought to be a minor problem has now been confirmed as a stress fracture of the foot ruling the Southampton midfielder out for around ten weeks.

Ward-Prowse began the season in fine form starting all but one game for Southampton; his performances have been a driving force in his side’s superb start to this campaign. But despite his early withdrawal on a stretcher at Swansea concerns were quickly allayed as post-match coach Ronald Koeman revealed - he had spoken to the medical team and the injury was not thought to be serious - the club remained "optimistic" of a return this weekend. However following further testing, a scan confirmed the severity of the injury with an initial prognosis of up to three months out - Victor Wanyama the player most likely to benefit after his winning goal at The Liberty.

Southampton climb into second but the three points at The Liberty came at a cost as James Ward-Prowse and Maya Yoshida are lost to injury.

James Ward-Prowse will be assessed after the Saints midfielder was caught by Swansea debutant Frederico Fernandez midway through the second half resulting in the player leaving the field of play on a stretcher. Although the early signs did not look good post-match Ronald Koeman confirmed that he had spoken with the medical team who advised the problem was "not bad," despite having his ankle fixed in a plastic cast. There was also good news regarding defender Maya Yoshida, his ankle injury only appears to be knock meaning a return next weekend would be realistic with defensive teammate Toby Alderweireld also expected to recover from the minor hamstring injury which sidelined him for the win over Swansea.

James Ward-Prowse hit the post in the in 70th minute but that was as close as either side got in a listless nil-nil draw at St. Mary's.

Dusan Tadic was again active as he looks to replace the creativity lost in midfield that was lost when Adam Lallana left for Liverpool this summer. Fellow Eredivisie alumni Graziano Pelle was less convincing as he managed to miss a couple of solid opportunities presented by Tadic. Ward-Prowse rattled the post but wasn't quite the force he was last weekend against Liverpool. A disappointing result for the Saints who will expect to win matches like this at home.

Southampton have acquired midfielder Saphir Taider on a year-long loan from Inter Milan.

The midfielder is coming over while Dani Osvaldo is headed the other day, also on a year-long loan. Taider is a young prospect who has impressed in both Serie A and the Algerian National team. He excels in taking set pieces and passing, but also had a strong defensive work-rate and can tackle competently. Taider has the potential to be a starter at Southampton this year and he could make an interesting fantasy option depending on his starting price.
