Brad Guzan has been named the starting goalkeeper for the US Men's National Team for their upcoming Gold Cup.
Guzan lost his job at Aston Villa late in the season to 39-year-old Shay Given, putting his future with USMNT in a slight doubt. It now sounds that he is still the number one goalkeeper during Tim Howard's one year leave, but his leash will probably be shorter should he not perform up to par. Guzan's dip in form this season is concerning for Villa fans and they may have to look for a new goalkeeper this summer if Guzan doesn't regain his old form. Jun 2 - 10:52 AM

A number of mistakes ended up costing Aston Villa points at the Etihad as they lost 3-2 to Manchester City.

Aston Villa started the match extremely poorly after Brad Guzan gifted Sergio Aguero an open net when trying to connect a pass across the back. It was possibly Aguero's easiest goal of his career and it was the start Manchester City needed. Villa were able to fight back and eventually tie the match 2-2, but a late Fernandinho goal gave City a much needed three points. Aston Villa will surely be disappointed as they must feel they deserve more than zero points from this match. They are now just two points above the relegation zone and are still strongly involved in the relegation race.

Brad Guzan earned his 100th appearance today when Aston Villa faced Swansea.

He becomes the 10th American to get 100 Premier League matches under his belt. Brad Friedel leads all Americans with 450. Guzan made a crucial error in the match when he failed to challenge Gylfi Sigurdsson's free-kick for the only goal of the match. Despite the error, Guzan remains Villa's number one option between the posts. He is also challenging Tim Howard for Team USA's starting goalkeeper spot for upcoming competitions.

American goalkeeper Brad Guzan was exceptional this weekend in Aston Villa's 1-1 draw against Manchester United.

Guzan saved an incredible eight shots, including two late in the game after Villa were down to 10 men. The performance is yet another one that supports the view of those who think Guzan should replace Tim Howard at the next World Cup. The American will be 33 years old at that time and will have a solid chance of winning the job.

American goalkeeper Brad Guzan had a fantastic game against Crystal Palace in midweek.

The USMNT goalkeeper kept a clean sheet to give Aston Villa a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace in midweek but probably shouldn't be considered too frequently in fantasy games. He is a fantastic goalkeeper but his defense's inability to keep opponents out is hurting his fantasy value. Use him with confidence against a very poor Leicester side this weekend but look to sell afterwards.

Brad Guzan kept a clean sheet on way to a 0-0 draw against Southampton.

The point was extremely important to Aston Villa as they are trying to stay out of the relegation battle. They are now in 15 place with 35 points, 5 ahead of Cardiff and Fulham. The match was quite uneventful as both teams struggled to create chances and fantasy managers who invested in defense in this match came out satisfied. Marc Albrighton was the only positive in the VIlla attack and he is bound to feature again next week. Include him in your fantasy squad if you're feeling adventurous.

Brad Guzan and his Aston Villa teammates failed to hold no to a nil-nil scoreline in stoppage time and fell 1-0 to Newcastle on Sunday.

The American goalkeeper faced 23 shots (5 on target) and lost the possession battle 45% to 55% but had a chance to earn an away point into stoppage time but they couldn't do enough. Guzan dodged a bullet when Loic Remy hit the post as the 90 minutes came to an end but a blocked Luuk de Jong shot fell to the French forward and cut inside the box and slotted it home for the very late winner for Newcastle. With Villa only 4 points above the relegation zone and the bottom of the table packed tight every point matters and this will certainly be viewed as an opportunity lost.

Brad Guzan is in the best form of his career and looks to become a big part of the United States Men's National Team.

Guzan has been patient throughout his career and patience is the key for the US international once again. It took time for Guzan to make it to the MLS and then to the Premier League and now he is waiting for his chance of regular first team international football. He did well coming in for injured Tim Howard in March, but Guzan is still number two on the US depth chart. With Howard's career coming to an end in the somewhat near future(he is 34 years old), Guzan's patience will likely be rewarded with US goalkeeper duties.

Brad Guzan has been left off the United States' roster this international break with what is being reported as an injury. However, the nature and extent of that injury is a mystery.

Aston Villa will be hoping that there isn't anything to this story. Guzan has been a rock at the back for them for a while now, and that play is finally starting to translate into clean sheets. Sadly, the team can't seem to score goals while keeping them out at the same time.

Brad Guzan has reaffirmed his commitment to Aston Villa and has dismissed rumors about a move to Arsenal.

There have been rumors about bigger teams interested in Brad Guzan, especially Arsenal, but the American keeper seems happy at Aston Villa. Guzan has had an extremely good start to the season and has helped Villa to 10th place in the Premier League. If he continues playing this well, Guzan has a chance of taking over team USA's goalkeeping duties for next year's World Cup. He remains a matchup play in fantasy.

Brad Guzan registered an assist during last week's game against Manchester City and ended up with an acceptable 12 fantasy points against tough opposition.

Brad Guzan's long free kick ended up with Andreas Weimann running onto the ball and beating the keeper to win the game and that counted as an assist for Guzan. He has been in good form lately and can be used in fantasy when the matchup is really favorable. At a little over 7 million, I would consider playing him against Hull this weekend if I can't afford anyone better.

After 26 consecutive Premier League matches in which Aston Villa conceded at least one goal, they finally kept a clean sheet, led by goalkeeper Brad Guzan, in a 0-1 victory over Norwich City.

It was a silver lining to an otherwise dark cloud after Benteke was lost to injury early on. Guzan made a strong save of Robert Snodgrass' kick from the spot and added a couple more impressive saves to lead Villa's defense to their first cleanie since the 2011/2012 season. As a barometer, Sunderland were next on the list with 8 straight games without a clean sheet.

American goalkeeper Brad Guzan has signed a new deal with Aston Villa for an addition four years.

Guzan won the starting job last season ahead of Shay Given and was a clear first choice for the team this year, especially with Shay Given told to leave. The team has also signed Jed Steer, who will certainly challenge Guzan for the starting spot and it will be interesting to see who wins the job.
