Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka expects defender Calum Chambers to be the only injury absentee for Saturday's match with Stoke City.
Chambers missed the last Premier League, a 1-0 loss at Crystal Palace, due to a foot injury. However, Karanka looks set to have both Antonio Barragan and George Friend back as the pair trained this week after injuries. On the trio, Karanka said: "I think we have everyone except Calum [Chambers]. Antonio [Barragan] and George [Friend] are training with the team so I hope tomorrow I arrive the pitch to find them again." Mar 2 - 6:20 PM

Aitor Karanka has revealed Middlesbrough have full-back problems ahead of Saturday's trip to Crystal Palace.

Middlesbrough are in need of win to separate themselves from the relegation zone but could be shorthanded at full-back this weekend, as Calum Chambers and George Friend will need to pass late fitness tests in order to feature against at Selhurst Park. Speaking to the media on Thursday, Karanka said: "Antonio Barragan is out, and we are not 100% with George Friend and Calum Chambers - they are not training with the team so we need to check." While Chambers and Friend would normally be possible replacements for Barragan, Karanka could be forced to shift Ben Gibson to a wide role if the duo is ruled out.

Middlesbrough defender Calum Chambers shook off a foot injury with a standout performer in Sunday's 1-0 defeat at Tottenham.

The 22-year-old missed the West Brom match because stress fracture in his foot but showed no signs of the problem against Spur, playing the full 90 minutes at White Hart Lane. The Arsenal loanee won five headers and a match-high seven tackles, enjoying more possession, passes and touches completed than any other Boro player. Chambers put in another strong performance at right back in an overall resilient defensive display by Boro, and should retain a spot the starting XI for Saturday's match with Everton.

Calum Chambers is back in training and could return for Saturday's match with Tottenham at the Riverside Stadium.

Middlesbrough won't have George Friend for their home clash with Tottenham but were handed a boost with the news that Chambers could potentially make his return from injury. On Chambers, who has missed the last two matches because of a stress fractured, Karanka said: "Calum Chambers is in training and I am not 100% but I hope he will be available." Should Chambers pass a late fitness test, the versatile 22-year-old defender could be recalled to partner Ben Gibson at the heart of Middlesbrough's defense. On the other hand, an omission would likely result in a fourth-straight start for Bernardo Espinosa.
Feb 3 - 2:45 PM

Aitor Karanka has confirmed that Calum Chambers, Gaston Ramirez and Antonio Barragan will miss this weekend's FA Cup fourth round tie against Accrington Stanley through injury.

"There’s Antonio Barragan, Gaston Ramirez and Calum Chambers," said Karanka when asked of any injury concerns for this week, adding that Chambers sustained a stress fracture to his foot following last Saturday's match against West Ham. "Calum has a stress fracture in his foot. I don’t know how long he will be out for or if it will be one, two, three or four weeks." The extended absence of Chambers means Bernardo Espinosa will likely continue in the starting XI for the foreseeable future, while Fabio and Patrick Bamford could also be drafted in for Saturday's match.

Middlesbrough defender Calum Chambers picked up a suspected shoulder injury against Liverpool and will be assessed ahead of Saturday's clash with Swansea.

While Chambers has not been ruled out of this weekend's fixture with Swansea, manager Aitor Karanka said the defender is currently being assessed by the club's medical staff. After the club's 3-0 loss to Liverpool, Karanka confirmed that Chambers damaged his shoulder and Cristian Stuani missed out due to a foot infection. George Friend has returned to training but his status is still unknown for this weekend, which coupled with the potential absence of Chambers would result in Karanka selecting between Dani Ayala or Bernardo Espinosa to partner Ben Gibson at the heart of Boro's defense.

Calum Chambers played 90 minutes for England Under-21s in their 3-2 victory over Italy in a friendly at St Mary's Stadium on Friday.

Chambers played the entire match as a right back in his 21st appearance for England U21s, who extended their unbeaten streak to 15 with a 3-2 comeback victory over Italy. The friendly appeared to be destined for a 2-2 draw, but former Middlesbrough defender Jack Stephens scored in the closings seconds after a header from Chambers was denied.

Arsenal continue to shed peripheral players as Calum Chambers has been loaned to Middlesbrough in an effort to get him more first team experience.

With the arrivals of Shkodran Mustafi and Rob Holding, Calum Chambers has found his opportunity limited to say the least despite significant injuries to Per Mertesacker and Gabriel. The loan to Boro is an opportunity for the player to hit the "reset" button on a once-promising career that has gone at least somewhat off track. The player is still young so there's plenty of time to get back on track and this season now holds that promise if he can carve out playing time on Teesside.

Arsenal defender Calum Chambers looks set for a season-long loan to Middlesbrough with a medical planned for Tuesday.

With the impending £35 million arrival of Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi and Rob Holding ahead of him in the pecking order, Chambers' playing time looked to be extremely limited. But the 21-year-old appears to be headed to Middlesbrough, who sit in fifth place after an undefeated start through the opening three games. But the big news out of the Arsenal camp today concerns the future of midfielder Jack Wilshere. The Arsenal star has reportedly talked to Arsene Wenger about his future at the club and wants more playing time after being left out of the England team with a loan move being considered.

Watford is reportedly leading the chase to take Arsenal defender Calum Chambers on loan for the upcoming season.

Reports claim that Bournemouth, Swansea City and Crystal Palace are all interested in making a move for the versatile defender while Southampton was originally considered the likely destination for Chambers to revive his career since leaving the South Coast in a £16 million move to Arsenal in the summer of 2014. The 21-year-old made only two Premier League starts last season and while Arsene Wenger is keen to hold onto him, Watford is holding talks with the Gunners over a loan move to complement its aging defense.

Calum Chambers put up good fantasy numbers in most game formats in Week 29 but don't confuse that with him playing well.

Calum Chambers was abused by Matt Jarvis on Saturday. It wasn't quite to the level that Jefferson Montero abused him at the Liberty Stadium in the first half of the season but it was close. The difference was that the Hammers didn't punish Arsenal with goals where Swansea did. Chambers' double digit effort in the Yahoo system shouldn't be confused in any way for him turning a corner as a left back (he was bad) or with any potential of him moving beyond the role of third choice RB behind Hector Bellerin and Mathieu Debuchy once the latter returns to health.

Calum Chambers has been flagged as an injury risk due to fatigue.

The Arsenal defender has been playing heavy minutes and will likely be rested during this tight upcoming schedule. Chambers played at right-back in Arsenal's last game and was exposed by the quicker Raheem Sterling, so it will also be interesting to see where Arsene Wenger plays him in the future. He has higher fantasy potential when he is playing on the right.

Calum Chambers has been accumulating yellow cards at a Lee Catermole-like pace this season culminating with his sending off against Stoke City over the weekend.

In an ideal world, Calum Chambers would have been eased into the Arsenal side this weekend providing occasional relief in relatively low pressure situations for Mathieu Flamini, Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny. In the real world, the 19-year-old has been pressed into action far too regularly due to Arsenal's ongoing injury crisis. Jefferson Montero ripped him apart on the wing in the loss to Swansea and against Stoke City he was asked to move back to the center of the field where Stoke City's power was more than he could handle. Chambers will miss Match Week 16 as a result of his two yellow cards. Look for Laurent Koscielny and Hector Bellerin to start at center back and right back respectively.

Calum Chambers rose to the occasion against Southampton with a strong outing in both fantasy and reality.

Calum Chambers rightly received a lot of criticism for his performances in poor results against Swansea and Manchester United. It's only fair to point out that he rebounded from those poor performances with a big match against 3rd place Southampton. Chambers helped blunt the Saints attack with seven intercepted passes and three tackles won on the way to a clean sheet. He even kicked in two successful crosses to help the attacking cause.

Calum Chambers broke through with a big match for Arsenal in their Week 10 win over Burnley.

The 19-year-old right back/center back/holding midfielder made a significant stride forward in Week 9 with strong defensive display. In Week 10 he upped the ante with a goal and an assist in addition to his contribution to a second straight Arsenal clean sheet. The goal was an opportunistic one after a Danny Welbeck shot rebounded to him in the box but he made no mistake in recording his first Premier League goal for the club. In addition to the obvious contributions he sprinkled in a interception, two tackles won, a successful cross and a corner won in what can only be considered a great all-around match.
