Darren Bent has signed with Derby on a two year deal.
Bent had been out of favour at Aston Villa and only made eight appearances over the past two seasons. His contract just recently expired and he signed with Derby on a free transfer. Bent was once a big money transfer whose career has turned into a disaster and his future Premier League value is non-existent. Wed, Jun 10, 2015 05:10:00 AM

Darren Bent has joined Derby County until the end of the season on loan.

The 30-year-old striker will officially joined the Rams when they transfer window opened on Saturday. He will not be able to feature in Derby’s FA Cup match against Southport as players must be registered with the FA by midday on Friday – but will be available for the key game against Ipswich at Portman Road on January 10.

Paul Lambert has come out to say that Darren Bent is still an option for him at Aston Villa.

Bent was deemed surplus last season and hasn't featured in Lambert's team for over a year before scoring two goals in Villa's first friendly a few days ago. Villa have been trying to unload the striker but haven't been able to get anyone interested and this could just be a ploy to trick someone to take his wages. Either way, we don't anticipate Bent to be a good fantasy option in the coming season.

Aston Villa's Darren Bent is wanted by Turkish giants Trabzonspor and Fenerbahce.

Bent hasn't been able to find a spot in Paul Lambert's rotation and was out on loan to Fulham last season. Aston Villa are once again limited financially so they will try to get rid of as many players they are not using as possible. Bent is past his prime but he has enough quality to be useful in the Turkish league. We believe his time as a Premier League striker is over, regardless of whether he goes to Turkey or not.

Darren Bent made his way into the match as a substitute to begin the second half for Fulham and proved to be the hero in the waning moments of the game, scoring from a header to grab a point at Old Trafford in a 2-2 cracker.

Fulham were dominated in every way today, but unlike their opponents, they were able to make the most of their opportunites. Steven Sidwell popped up with his team leading 6th goal of the season in the 19th minute to give Fulham the shock lead which they somehow were able to hang on to for an hour with heroic defending that had players like John Arne Riise sacrificing their bodies nonstop to keep United out. Then, after United had taken the lead, Kieran Richardson blasted a shot that David De Gea was able to block, but the rebound floated into Bent's path and he headed home. Fulham will gladly take any point they can get. Surprisingly, a healthy Clint Dempsey didn't even make the bench it what was a very interesting XI put out by Rene Meulensteen.

After handing Darren Bent a start up top along with Dimitar Berbatov against Cardiff City, the resulting loss has moved Fulham boss Martin Jol to state that Bent may have to settle for coming off the bench.

To be fair, if Jol wants to make Bent an impact sub, Fulham could use one because they aren't scoring as much as they would like. Bent, in limited action, has twice as many goals in the PL as Bryan Ruiz, Adel Taarabt and Berbatov put together. While it is true Fulham have lost all three matches Bent has started, it is hard to blame any one individual for their lack of success. Until this news, Bent was shaping up as a nice 3rd attacker bench option for fantasy managers rolling out a 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 formation.

Darren Bent provided the lone goal of the match, giving Fulham and manager Martin Jol a much needed victory over Stoke City, 1-0.

On an assist from Patjim Kasami in the 83rd minute, Bent was able to fire home after impressively evading his defender. Jol can breathe a sigh of relief as 1 point may not have been enough to keep his job. He made the right move in subbing Bent on for what has been a disappointing Dimitar Berbatov so far this season. If you are looking to start 5 midfielders and need a cheap 3rd forward bench option, you should look at Bent and his below 5m price tag.

Martin Jol will be without new signing Darren Bent for the visit of West Brom this Saturday as the forward recovers from a minor hamstring injury.

Darren Bent's hamstring will prevent him from featuring against the Baggies this weekend. This may mean another start for Pajtim Kasami who scored Fulham's winner in Week 1. This is unlikely to be a long term assignment for Kasami though as Bent should be ready to feature again by Week 5.

Darren Bent scored his first goal of the season and Fulham's only goal of the day in a loss to Arsenal.

Bent was signed to partner with Dimitar Berbatov in a 2-headed striker attack but has yet to start in the Cottagers first two PL games. He was given a substitute appearance today and scored a consolation goal courtesy of a nifty Berbatov assist. Bent has a proven goal-scoring record in the PL league and could represent a bargain budget option in fantasy if he can nail down a regular spot, currently priced at just 4.6 in the Yahoo game.

Aston Villa striker Darren Bent might be joining Crystal Palace as they have showed interest in the experienced forward.

Bent's career at Villa Park is over as he has been told to leave, but Villa are also reportedly not taking less than £6m for him. Teams seem unwilling to pay that much and we will have to wait and see if Crystal Palace's pockets are deep enough. Bent is only 29 years old so there is still hope he can resurrect his career for a few more quality years, but that is yet to be seen.

Aston Villa are not going to accept anything less than the £6m price they have set on Darren Bent.

There have been rumors that Fulham have accepted the price but nothing has been confirmed yet. Newcastle are out of the race, as they believe the price is too high, so it seems Fulham are the last man standing. I think Fulham is likely trying to decrease the price and that is the reason this is taking so long, but if Villa stand their ground they can probably get £6m for Bent. Bent would be an interesting fantasy option next season as he can probably still contribute but it's unknown how well.

Fulham, having reportedly met Aston Villa's £6 million asking price, are in the lead for Darren Bent over Newcastle who apparently won't come close to that valuation.

If Darren Bent weren't English and hadn't had a 24 goal season for Sunderland FIVE seasons ago, we might all be wondering what Fulham were willing to pay £6 million for. The facts over the past four seasons are 74 matches played (no more than 22 in any single season) and 29 goals scored (no more than 9 in any single season). The strike rate is solid for a mid-table club at this price but four seasons of playing approximately half his club's matches is a big enough sample size to be very wary, especially as Bent will turn 30 halfway through the upcoming campaign. Fulham could definitely get lucky and see some value in the first year of this contract but if they sign him to a multi-year deal at his age and with his injury history you can see his wages being an albatross in the not too distant future.

Darren Bent will apparently go to the highest bidder with Fulham now rivaling Newcastle for the forward's signature.

Darren Bent would certainly be a short term upgrade for Fulham if he can rediscover his best form. It should be noted that it has been 5 seasons since he appeared more than 22 times in the Premier League and the same number of years since he scored double digit goals. At 29 it isn't outside the realm of possibility that he could rebound but unless he takes a wage cut he'd likely be an expensive risk for either club. At this point, his name is bigger than his game so one wonders if the club that wins the chase will feel like winners at the end of the season.

Darren Bent has been kicked out of Aston Villa's training room and been told he will not be returning to the first team.

Bent has been on the transfer list for a while now but it's surprising that he was kicked out of the first team consider that can only lower his price. He was forced to train with other transfer list players, such as Stephen Ireland and Alan Hutton. Villa are not doing a great job of making their players appealing to other teams and their wallets may suffer.

Newcastle United have made contact with Aston Villa over a transfer of want-away striker, Darren Bent. Bent is understood to be willing to lower his wages to achieve a move.

After an annus horriblis at Villa, it's hard to know at what level Darren Bent is capable of playing. At his best, he was one of the Premier League's top strikers, and Newcastle are in desperate need of firepower.
