Leicester City has completed the signing of Hull City goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic for an undisclosed fee.
The 32-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal with Leicester to become their third signing of the summer, following the arrival of his former Tiger team-mate Harry Maguire and Sevilla's Vicente Iborra. The experienced shot-stopper made a total of 55 appearances during his time at Hull, including 22 appearances in their relegation campaign last term. The former Switzerland international will serve as Kasper Schmeichel's backup next season. Speaking to LCFC TV, Jakupovic said: "I’m very happy and excited that the deal is finally done. I’m very excited to be a part of something special here and I can’t wait for the first game." Wed, Jul 19, 2017 04:30:00 PM

Hull City goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic is set to follow former Hull teammate Harry Maguire to the King Power stadium according to BBC Sport.

Negotiations between the two clubs have reached an advanced stage with a £2 million agreement nearing its conclusion. The Tigers released a statement on their website saying that they had "not accepted any offers or received any bids" for the 32 year old, however the BBC refute that claim. Jakupovic, who has retired from international football due to family reasons, would act as backup for Kasper Schmeichel at Leicester. The 'keeper won back his place in Hull's relegation threatened side upon the arrival of Marco Silva at the club, delivering a number of commendable performances as the Tigers nearly clawed their way back from the brink.

Hull City won a point in dramatic circumstances at Saint Mary's in a 0-0 draw with Southampton.

It was a borefest in the first half, with little attacking of note. The home side received a few boos as they walked in for the interval, but in truth they failed to spur them into action. Manolo Gabbiadini was hauled off just before the hour mark, much to the disdain of fantasy managers across the globe. Southampton were wasteful from set-pieces throughout the encounter, lacking Ward-Prowse's speciality as he sat on the bench. The had forced Jakupovic into just one save before the earned a penalty in added time after N'Diaye knocked down Yoshida illegally. However, Hull's 'keeper got low to the left to save Tadic's penalty. The result meant that relegation rivals Sunderland have had their gloomy fate confirmed, while Marco Silva's men have edged closer to unexpected safety.

Eldin Jakupovic appears to be new Hull manager Marco Silva's first choice goalkeeper.

There was little surprise when Jakupovic was selected by Silva for his first two games in charge in cup games, first in the FA Cup against Swansea and days later against Manchester United in the League Cup semi-final. However, Jakupovic's start in the Premier League against Bournemouth last weekend signals that he is Silva's first choice 'keeper. Summer signing David Marshall has had a torrid time since he arrived at the club, failing to keep a single clean sheet in 21 appearances and conceding an average of 2.47 goals per game.

Ahead of its first season back in the Premier League, Hull City confirmed two players won't be returning to the top flight.

Forward Sone Aluko, who has been with the club for four years, won't have his contract renewed once it expires next month after scoring 15 goals in 108 appearances. Defender Ryan Taylor also won't be returning to the club after making 12 appearances since arriving from Newcastle last summer on a free transfer. But the Tigers did announce that they have picked up a one-year option to extend the contract of goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic, while also offering new contracts to Ahmed Elmohamady and Tom Huddlestone.

Eldin Jakupovic's failure to clear a poor Robbie Brady back pass resulted in the only goal of the match from Victor Wanyama as Hull City lost to Southampton 1-0.

Robbie Brady may have been the hero of last weekend's draw against Liverpool but he was integral to Hull City's downfall this weekend as a poor back pass to third string goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic wasn't properly cleared. It found it's way to Victor Wanyama who steered it home from 40 yards out. Steve Bruce didn't have any choice but to start Jakupovic but he may regret not starting Andrew Robertson who has been strong all season as opposed to Brady's unlikely strong performance last weekend. Expect Robertson to return to the starting line-up next weekend.

Hull are close to landing former Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor from Besiktas to compete with Eldin Jakupovic.

With David Stockdale having concluded his loan spell at the club and Steve Bruce apparently not convinced by Jakupovic, Hull have been linked with a variety of goalkeeping targets this summer. The man who looks likely to land the job is controversial former Rangers man McGregor. Adding McGregor and Curtis Davies (also strongly rumored) to Maynor Figueroa would represent a major overhaul at the back for the Tigers.
