Eldin Jakupovic appears to be new Hull manager Marco Silva's first choice goalkeeper.
There was little surprise when Jakupovic was selected by Silva for his first two games in charge in cup games, first in the FA Cup against Swansea and days later against Manchester United in the League Cup semi-final. However, Jakupovic's start in the Premier League against Bournemouth last weekend signals that he is Silva's first choice 'keeper. Summer signing David Marshall has had a torrid time since he arrived at the club, failing to keep a single clean sheet in 21 appearances and conceding an average of 2.47 goals per game. Ahead of its first season back in the Premier League, Hull City confirmed two players won't be returning to the top flight.

Forward Sone Aluko, who has been with the club for four years, won't have his contract renewed once it expires next month after scoring 15 goals in 108 appearances. Defender Ryan Taylor also won't be returning to the club after making 12 appearances since arriving from Newcastle last summer on a free transfer. But the Tigers did announce that they have picked up a one-year option to extend the contract of goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic, while also offering new contracts to Ahmed Elmohamady and Tom Huddlestone.

Eldin Jakupovic's failure to clear a poor Robbie Brady back pass resulted in the only goal of the match from Victor Wanyama as Hull City lost to Southampton 1-0.

Robbie Brady may have been the hero of last weekend's draw against Liverpool but he was integral to Hull City's downfall this weekend as a poor back pass to third string goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic wasn't properly cleared. It found it's way to Victor Wanyama who steered it home from 40 yards out. Steve Bruce didn't have any choice but to start Jakupovic but he may regret not starting Andrew Robertson who has been strong all season as opposed to Brady's unlikely strong performance last weekend. Expect Robertson to return to the starting line-up next weekend.

Hull are close to landing former Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor from Besiktas to compete with Eldin Jakupovic.

With David Stockdale having concluded his loan spell at the club and Steve Bruce apparently not convinced by Jakupovic, Hull have been linked with a variety of goalkeeping targets this summer. The man who looks likely to land the job is controversial former Rangers man McGregor. Adding McGregor and Curtis Davies (also strongly rumored) to Maynor Figueroa would represent a major overhaul at the back for the Tigers.
