Stewart Downing has slowed down in recent weeks after a hot start to the season.
The West Ham midfielder has not been horrific but also hasn't shown the form he was displaying early in the season. He's averaged just 6.5 fantasy points over the last four weeks in the Yahoo! game and at this point, there are better players in his price range that you should be considering. Take him out of your Yahoo! lineup while he regains form, but keep him in draft leagues. Mar 1 - 3:01 PM

West Ham scored three goals in about 25 minutes to beat Hull City with a classic 3-0 score.

The first half was slow from both teams with few chances being created and not much happening on either side. The second was completely different and the Hammers hammered Hull City in a just a little under 25 minutes with goals from Andy Carroll, Morgan Amalfitano, and Stewart Downing. West Ham are now in seventh place, just below the threshold for European competitions.

West Ham's in-form winger Stewart Downing is an excellent option for Week 22 as the Hammers host Hull City.

Continuing to defy pre-conceived logic by playing well each and every week in his attacking midfield role, Downing was simply superb against Swansea in Week 21 and he can cause Hull further woe this weekend. Expect a goal or an assist, shots on target, successful crosses and a double digit fantasy return.

Stewart Downing and Andy Carroll lift West Ham to its fourth win in five matches, beating Leicester 2-0 on Saturday.

Carroll scored midway through the first half and Downing added to the lead shortly after the second half began with an unstoppable effort placed into the far corner. Downing has a goal or an assist in the last four games and Carroll has three goals in his last three. West Ham sits in fourth place, one point behind Manchester United, while Leicester remains bottom of the table with 10 points.

Stewart Downing continued his hot streak against Sunderland this weekend.

The midfielder scored a goal to give West Ham a 1-1 draw at Sunderland and finished the week with 16 fantasy points. In week 15, he finished with 13 fantasy points when he picked up an assist and six successful crosses. The week before he had 9 points that came through another assist. His assists and goals make him a fine choice for any fantasy game, especially with West Ham facing Leicester next.

West Ham maintained their place in the Premier League top four by coming from behind to draw 1-1 at Sunderland.

The Hammers trailed to a Jordi Gomez's penalty after Adam Johnson fell dramatically after minimal contact from a James Tomkins challenge but fought back within seven minutes. The goal came from in-form Stewart Downing, who struck a deflected shot from the edge of the box, and both sides had chances to win it. Jozy Altidore's missed a sitter from close-range while Aaron Cresswell saw a one-on-one chance saved by Costel Pantilimon. West Ham stay fourth while Sunderland drop to 15th.

Stewart Downing & Cheikhou Kouyate both returned to training on Thursday and are expected to be available for the weekend.

Downing has been stellar this season and his involvement will be key in West Ham's match against Newcastle. Kouyate has missed extended time this season with injuries but has also shown he can make a difference when on the pitch. We would recommend Downing for fantasy teams this week but would be more cautious with Kouyate.

Stewart Downing is an excellent fantasy options for Week 11 as West Ham host struggling Aston Villa.

Arguably West Ham's player of the season so far and fully deserving of his recall to Roy Hodgson's England squad this week. Stewart Downing's excellent performances on the pitch don't always translate in to fantasy returns but the winger-turned-attacking-midfielder was magnificent when pulling his side back from 2-0 down against Stoke in Week Ten, grabbing a goal and an assist for 18 points. We expect another productive display from Downing at home to an Aston Villa side on a woeful run of six defeats in a row.

Stuart Downing has rebounded in a huge way with his move to a central position and he showed his form with a goal that earned West Ham a point after trailing 2-0 to Stoke City.

West Ham have been on fire in recent weeks and were all set for a bit of a let down after their big win over Manchester City last weekend. Just when it seemed like they would follow that script down 2-0 to mediocre Stoke City, they launched a furious fight back to earn a hard fought point. First Enner Valencia and then the reborn Stuart Downing scored for the Hammers in reply to goals from Victor Moses and Mame Biram Diouf.

Stewart Downing was named Man of the Match in another West Ham United win, this time by a score of 3-1 over Burnley.

Downing has been fantastic this season and is showing form we didn't even know he had. The midfielder is creating chances left and right and was in the middle of the away win for the Hammers. The goals came from red hot Diafra Sakho and strikers Enner Valencia and Carlton Cole. West Ham United are now fourth in the table, three points behind third place Southampton. This is no fluke either, as the Hammers have looked impressive this season after strengthening the attack over the summer through a series of key signings. Burnley, on the other hand, are struggling and find themselves in 19th place. At least they scored, right?

Stewart Downing is being tipped for a big fantasy score in Week 7 as West Ham host QPR.

Heavily tipped in last week's column, Downing put up another 13 points against Manchester United (on the losing side without a goal or assist) to keep his average points per game at the 12 point mark, and he can top those figures in a West Ham win against QPR this weekend.

West Ham stunned Liverpool by scoring twice inside the first seven minutes of the match and it would prove to be enough as they went on to win 3-1.

As is often the case, Sam Allardyce entered today's match needing a positive result and this win over the Reds will certainly go far in the hearts and minds of Hammers supporters. As he was in the draw this past Monday against Hull, Stewart Downing was instrumental once again in spearheading the attack, whipping in one cross after the next. He showed some set piece magic by teeing up Winston Reid for a header that put the Hammers ahead for good just two minutes into the contest. Downing was an assist machine going back to his days at Aston Villa and may have found that form once again this season, making him a viable fantasy prospect most weeks.

West Ham midfielder Stewart Downing was in this week's Best XI after scoring a goal over the weekend.

Downing has been very impressive in West Ham's first two matches, finishing with 13 and 21 points respectively. He's been a creative force down the right flank, setting up teammates and creating chances. West Ham's attack remains an unknown after only two matches but Downing's play is encouraging. We won't blame you if you ride Downing's hot streak, as he costs an affordable £ 12.28M.

Stewart Downing was very active in his first Premier League match of the season and finished with 13 fantasy points for the week.

Downing was able to put in four successful crosses and win a corner on top of putting two shots on target for West Ham. He was a creative spark that was missing last season at West Ham, so it's hard to tell if he's improved this season or this was just a one game performance. At £ 10.85M, there is potential for him to become fantasy relevant, but avoid him until he proves he can contribute on a regular basis.

Stewart Downing played a part in both of West Ham United's goals as the Hammers used a man advantage to help squash Tottenham 2-0.

Downing was in vintage form today and deserves plaudits for his performance, reminiscent of his time at Aston Villa. The first goal originated when Downing broke free and charged into the box only to be taken down by Younes Kaboul, who was summarily sent off. The free kick was saved but before Spurs could regain possession, Harry Kane gifted the Hammers an own goal. Then near the end of the first half, another free kick was awarded, which Downing took and scored with, as the Spurs' wall broke apart to let the ball through. Downing also delivered several crosses throughout the day. The Hammers wrap up their season next week when they travel to the Etihad.
