Peter Whittingham converted an early second half penalty to earn Cardiff City a 1-1 draw with Stoke City in Week 35 action on Saturday.
With a shocking 43% of possession against a Stoke team that is notorious for not winning the possession battle, the penalty was Cardiff's best form of attack and in the 51st minute, Frazier Campbell successfully drew a penalty from Steven N'Zonzi. Peter Whittingham converted the spot kick and gave Cardiff City a hard-earned point. The problem is that time is running short and a single point really didn't move Cardiff City much closer to their goal of getting out of the relegation zone. With Norwich City and West Brom within striking distance, they needed three points at home. They still have a fighter's chance given Norwich's brutal upcoming schedule but they aren't making it easy on themselves. Apr 19 - 12:03 PM

After going goalless in their previous three matches, Cardiff City finally found their scoring touch again thanks to a goal from Peter Whittingham in the 66th minute and the Bluebirds held on to defeat West Brom 1-0.

It had been 335 minutes since Cardiff scored last month in their draw with Manchester United, but during their drought Whittingham was showing signs of form and it culminated with a breakthrough game-winning goal today, his second of the season. It would be difficult to recommend any Bluebirds for their trip to Anfield next weekend but they will have 3 home games in 4 thereafter and could present some options during that stretch.

Peter Whittingham helped Cardiff City to a road point, scoring their only goal in a 1-1 draw at Hull City Tigers.

A left-footer from close range from the veteran midfielder came in the 59th minute as Cardiff were able to level the score and hold on for the draw. The strike comes 3,234 days since his previous Premier League goal, so there is not much reason to consider him for fantasy purposes. In reality though, it's a nice start for the promoted side, with 5 points from 4 matches thus far.

Cardiff City have been looking for a younger, more talented winger all season and have reportedly turned their attention to Jefferson Montero.

Montero is definitely young but in two seasons in La Liga he couldn't find his way into the first team at Villarreal, Levante, or Betis. He had just over 50 appearances but he only started about half the time and rarely made it through an entire match. His goal and assist numbers weren't great. Since moving down a level to Mexico his productivity has gone up significantly leaving the question of his ability to play in a top tier league open.

Cardiff has reportedly had both a transfer price and personal terms accepted for the sought-after Tom Ince. Despite that progress, cross-town rivals Swansea are still in the mix for the Blackpool man as well.

Assuming the price is the same and personal terms are either the same or similar between Cardiff and Swansea, this will be an interesting decision for Ince. Presumably he'll have more opportunities for playing time at Cardiff where players like Peter Whittingham are aging and losing effectiveness. At Swansea, he may play a little less but will have a much better chance of staying in the Premier League beyond this season and putting himself in a good position to continue his ascent should he keep progressing.
