Brek Shea has had his loan to Barnsley cut short after an incident with a fan. Shea has apologized on Twitter, but it seems the damage was done.
Shea was not tearing up trees at Barnsley, and it's unlikely that he'll force his way back into the reckoning at Stoke. Odds are that he'll be on the move again this summer, but this puts a doubt on his ability to make the United States' squad for Brasil 2014. Tue, Mar 11, 2014 12:33:00 AM

Stoke City and US international midfielder, Brek Shea, looks to be on the move come January.

Due to a lack of playing time with current Premier League side Stoke City, Shea will be moving on a short-term loan to Barnsley of the Football League Championship. The US international is itching for more playing time in a World Cup year so this move would likely be beneficial to both parties, although the level of play would be a step down for the 23-year old winger. Barnsley currently sit in last place with 16 points and a -21 goal differential through 23 games. Shea has played just 32 total minutes so far this season for Stoke - a sub appearance in a 4-0 defeat at Everton back in November. The loan to Barnsley is expected to be short-term.

New England Revolution striker Juan Agudelo will not be joining Stoke City in January after his work permit was refused.

No reason was given, and no appeal is allowed, so Agudelo will not be joining countrymen Brek Shea, Geoff Cameron, and Maurice Edu at the Britannia.

Brek Shea scored the opener for Stoke City's Under-21 team, but was later sent off for an off-the-ball incident.

Brek Shea doesn't seem any closer to Stoke City's first team after nearly a year with the club. This performance certainly won't help his chances.

Brek Shea, hot off his Gold Cup winning goal, was injured in Stoke City's friendly with MLS' Philadelphia Union.

Shea set up Stoke's opener and scored their second before being injured in a nasty tackle. He is out for at least several weeks, and awaits further information about the severity of the injury. This is another setback for the player who has yet to show his worth at Stoke.

Stoke wide-man Brek Shea scored the only goal of the match on a late breakaway as the USA beat Costa Rica to win their group and progress to the CONCACAF Gold Cup quarterfinals.

Shea will likely be released from the squad before the knock-out games begin (the team can make four roster changes) so that he can join up with his Stoke City teammates in pre-season. Thanks to his goal, he'll be in a better frame of mind when he shows up at camp.
