Crystal Palace will be looking to get far away from home after two crushing defeats at Selhurst Park in the last week.
The Eagles followed up a 3-0 home loss to Manchester City in the FA Cup last weekend with a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of relegation rivals Sunderland, who has now gone level on 19 points with Crystal Palace at the bottom of the Premier League table. Palace, who has lost its last five Premier League matches at home, couldn't find a way to build on the momentum of a Week 23 win against Bournemouth, failing to score a goal despite taking 21 shots (nine on target) and holding 65 percent possession. The only fireworks for the home side was an altercation between Damien Delaney and a fan at half-time as the defender walked to the tunnel. Sat, Feb 4, 2017 12:39:00 PM

Crystal Palace had little to offer from their attack this afternoon and the defense could not hold on for a draw as Spurs would score late and defeat the Eagles, 1-0.

Perhaps Tottenham should feel lucky to catch Palace in a transition week where they did not have the recently departed Yannick Bolasie nor the newly arrived Christian Benteke to play in this one. Jason Puncheon had a shot on target early but it took until just after the hour mark for the Eagles best chance when Puncheon was able to find Yohan Cabaye in space but the Frenchman missed the shot badly. Meanwhile, the Palace defense did all they could to stave off the Tottenham attack and they nearly worked a draw, but shortly after the removal of Damien Delaney from the game, Spurs would find a match-winner. The Eagles should have a much better chance to score goals next week with the addition of Benteke and a tasty fixture, playing at home to AFC Bournemouth.

Crystal Palace's latest winless streak was extended to three Premier League matches following a 2-0 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Just nine points ahead of Sunderland, who has two games in hand, Crystal Palace was not in the position to just give away goals. But Damien Delaney cleared Matteo Darmian's low cross into the back of the net past Julian Speroni, starting in place of Wayne Hennessey, for the opening goal. Darmian then added a second goal in the second half from distance to bury a second-team Palace side. Alan Pardew made seven changes to the starting XI from the weekend with the upcoming FA Cup semifinal against Watford in mind.

Nothing seems to be going right for Crystal Palace in the New Year as the club lost its third straight Premier League match in a 4-0 defeat at Manchester City.

To make matters worse, the Eagles have gone winless and goalless in the last five Premier League matches, being outscored 8-0 during that timeframe. Damien Delaney had a chance to break that goalless streak in the opening minutes with an open header from inside the box, but his shot went straight at Joe Hart as the the keeper parried the chance away. There was not much else for Palace, who recorded only three shots on goal while trying to keep up with Manchester City's attack. The lack of goals is expected to force Alan Pardew into signing a striker before the end of the transfer window after starting Connor Wickham to no avail this week.

Crystal Palace ran into a buzzsaw in the form of Chelsea FC, being dominated more and more as the match wore on, eventually losing 0-3.

With today's match marking the beginning of the second half of the season, the Eagles fell victim to an inspired Chelsea side and could not keep pace without key players like Yohan Cabaye and Yannick Bolasie involved to answer goals from the Blues. Joel Campbell and Wilfried Zaha had some good looks in the first half but the final touches failed them. Damien Delaney was responsible for conceding the first Chelsea goal, as he attempted to thwart a through ball by Cesc Fabregas but missed, allowing Diego Costa space to enter the area and tee up Oscar for an easy goal. The result shouldn't define the state Palace are in at the moment, it was more a statement game from the defending champs and the Eagles were the unfortunate victims. They will have Cabaye back from suspension in Week 21 but Bolasie needs to return soon as well to bolster their attack.

Damien Delaney made his first appearance for Crystal Palace in more than a month, starting at centre-back in the League Cup on Wednesday in a 5-1 loss to Manchester City.

Delaney looks to have regained his starting spot after Brede Hangeland nervously filled in over the past month. Crystal Palace could also be boosted by the return of Joel Ward, who came on as a second-half substitute in the League Cup. With Manchester United looming and some doubts in midfield, expect Crystal Palace to take a more defensive approach to the weekend.

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew confirmed defender Damien Delaney will be fit to face West Ham in Week 9.

Pardew also confirmed bit players Mile Jedinak, Jordon Mutch and Lee Chung-Yong have also returned from their respective injuries. The return of Delaney gives Pardew his preferred centre-half pairing with Scott Dann, with Brede Hangeland likely making way after filling in valiantly at age 34. But Delaney's first test, if given the start, will come against a West Ham side that has scored 14 goals in its last six Premier League matches.

Damien Delaney is one of many injury issues for Crystal Palace.

Palace will be without him and Mile Jedinak while also missing Connor Wickham and Joel Ward. Delaney may or may not be fit after the international break so you should check back for his status before week nine.

Damien Delaney will be suspended for one game after picking up a red card in Week 8.

Delaney was sent off for two yellow card offences towards the end of the first half of Palace's defeat against Chelsea, and will miss the league game against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday 25 October. Delaney's absence will likely mean a start for Adrian Mariappa alongside Brede Hangeland, unless Scott Dann can recover from the injury which kept him out of the Chelsea match.

Crystal Palace defender Damien Delaney has expressed his delight at penning a contract extension at Selhurst Park.

The agreement will keep 32-year-old Delaney with Palace until the summer of 2015, and is just reward for a player who can hold his head up high despite the generally poor performances from the Eagles defence. He should continue to start the majority of Premier League games, but he's not somebody you need to consider for your fantasy team.
