Hull City continue to sputter toward the finish line as they were defeated at the Liberty Stadium 3-1 by an organized Swansea City side.
Don't look now but Steve Bruce and company are slipping into relegation territory as QPR and Leicester both picked up three points today and narrowed the gap at the bottom of the table. The Tigers only goal came from a set piece, as Robbie Brady sent the ball into the area perfectly as Alex Bruce got a touch that set up the surging McShane who needed to just poke it in from point blank range. Otherwise, the attack had little spark, with Gaston Ramirez having to come off early with a knock not helping the cause. With the likes of Southampton, Liverpool and Arsenal comprising three of their next four opponents, Hull could be in serious danger come May. Apr 4 - 12:15 PM

Paul McShane has been a stealthy play over the past month as Hull City have saved their season and he has ascended into the starting lineup.

McShane has 60 fantasy points in the Yahoo format for the entire season and nearly half of those have come over the past four match weeks. His strong run was capped by a team-leading 14 point effort in Week 29. His day in the nil-nil draw at Leicester City included a clean sheet along with a shot on target, blocked shot and a pass intercepted. He was also fouled once. McShane's price is creeping up so if you're interested in buying in, you should probably do it soon in formats (like Yahoo) with relatively volatile pricing models based on recent performance.

Paul McShane offers a budget option in defense in Week 25 of the Premier League, as Hull City host the league's worst attack, Aston Villa.

It has been a tough season for Hull but perhaps the positive result over the weekend, where they nearly kept out Manchester City at the Etihad, will begin a positive run of form. From a defensive standpoint, a home game against Aston Villa should be viewed as any club's best chance for a clean sheet. McShane was given a spot over Curtis Davies in the Tigers impressive defensive performance and with James Chester still sidelined, one would imagine Steve Bruce owes the Irish veteran another start. For 3.71m in the Yahoo game, he is worth a play as your final defender.

Paul McShane is a strong bet to return for Hull's meaningless Week 38 match to gain some match fitness and give Curtis Davies a rest.

Paul McShane has been on the shelf for quite some time but the timing of his return is fortuitous for Steve Bruce who will likely employ the defender to give his most important defender, Curtis Davies, a rest in advance of the FA Cup Final next Sunday. It is hardly worth picking McShane despite this news but it is at least worth mentioning since his price is 5.7m which makes him a (relative) bargain of a defender.

Hull City defender, Paul McShane, tore his hamstring last week against Crystal Palace.

Alex Bruce and Abdoulaye Faye are on stand-by to deputize for McShane, starting at Liverpool this weekend.
