Hull City have elected not to offer Robert Koren a new contract and the creative midfielder is being pursued by Championship clubs Ipswich and Charlton.
After starting only 10 Premier League matches and sporadic-at-best action over the second half of the season, the writing was on the wall for Robert Koren after he helped power Hull City into the top flight with 9 goals and 5 assists in 2012-13. The club released the attacking midfielder who appears likely to return to the Championship where his track record indicates he can be a major asset in a promotion campaign. May 23 - 10:07 AM

Hull City scored six goals in the second half in what ended up being an embarrassing result for Fulham.

The scorers were Ahmed El Mohamady, George Boyd, Robert Koren(2), Tom Huddlestone, and Matt Fryatt. Most people probably expected Hull City to win in a narrow margin but the blowout was a huge surprise. Fulham were coming off an impressive away win at Norwich and were looking to build on the result but the question now is where do they go from here? They are in the relegation zone and don't have much to be optimistic about.

Robert Koren, out of action since mid-September with a foot injury, has returned to training and is fit enough to feature in the squad in Week 12.

Robert Koren was a key creative cog in Hull's early-season successes. After two months on the sidelines where Tom Huddlestone and Jake Livermore had time to establish themselves, it remains to be seen how Koren fits into Steve Bruce's plans now that he's back. It is likely that he'll be on the bench to start in Week 12 as he's sure to be short of match fitness after having to let his foot heal. As he gains fitness, his status as a starter will have to be monitored as will any impact he might have on the percentage of kicks going to Robbie Brady.

Robert Koren will miss out on the trip to St. James Park this weekend that will likely keep him out for up to eight weeks.

One of Hull City's key creative players, Robert Koren faces a long (approximately two months) stretch on the sidelines. With a visit to revitalized Newcastle coming up this weekend, Hull will face a tough test with one of their main creators out. Extra burden will fall on Tom Huddlestone, Robbie Brady (if he is healthy) and Jake Livermore. Not good news for a Hull City side that needs all the attacking flair it can find.
