Following a slew of injuries in the Crystal Palace attack, Jordon Mutch has thrown his hat into the ring of potential replacements in Alan Pardew's side.
The midfielder has former Premier League experience with Queens Park Rangers and Cardiff City, but each club was relegated during the past two seasons. Since arriving at Crystal Palace during the last winter transfer window, Mutch has been thrust in and out of the Palace squad, mostly being used as a second-half substitute. The midfielder has played in five of the last six league matches, but has only seen two starts this season, something Mutch said he would like to change: "I want to play more, every player does, but we have got a lot of players in that central area and I want to be playing in that number eight or 10 role. I’m happy here; I’m sure as the season goes on more opportunities will come but, at the moment the team’s doing well and everyone is doing their bit." Fri, Jan 8, 2016 02:33:00 PM

Crystal Palace scored early and often in their preseason match with South African club Supersport, winning comfortably 0-4.

The Eagles got about everything they could ask for from their friendly today. Patrick Bamford made his debut, the defense made no mistakes, and they scored four times by the 33rd minute. Icing on the cake, no one came out of it any worse for the wear by all accounts. Mile Jedinak got the affair started with a goal inside three minutes. Chung-yong Lee then capitalized on an error by the Supersport keeper to make it 0-2. Then in the 28th, Jordan Mutch made a case for playing time, beating two defenders on a nice run then chipping the keeper for a quality goal. Frazier Campbell would make it a rout just a few minutes later.

After a summer move to Loftus Road failed to yield much playing time, Jordan Mutch has traded West London for South London and Crystal Palace on a permanent deal.

As Alan Pardew looks to put his stamp on Crystal Palace, he has clearly targeted the attacking end of the pitch for his squad renovation. He has elevated younger, faster players in the form of Dwight Gayle and Wilfried Zaha and has now brought in Yaya Sanogo (loan), Shola Amiobe, and Jordan Mutch to diversify his attacking options. Palace have scored three goals in each of their last two matches (one Premier League and one FA Cup) so it the signs are good that the Palace attack will improve.

Harry Redknapp bemoans the fitness of some of his key players as Queens Park Rangers slump to the bottom of the British Premier League following their fifth defeat of the season in Sundays’ derby loss at the Boleyn Ground.

Having lost striker Loic Remy in a deadline day move to rivals Chelsea Rangers needed their summer signings to hit the ground running but since a narrow victory over Sunderland in August the hoops have only managed to secure a single point. Redknapp highlights the loss of key players during this period which have cost the team dearly with Sandro [head & knee] plus Jordon Mutch and Joey Barton [both hamstring] failing to get up to speed following injury – Adel Taarabt [ankle] is another still playing catch-up after missing the majority of preseason. The two week international break comes at an ideal time for the club allowing players to regroup and regain fitness before upcoming matches against Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City.

Queens Park Rangers ran into a buzzsaw at White Hart Lane today as they were thoroughly beaten by Tottenham in a 4-0 final.

Well, Leroy Fer made his debut. That much can be said. Nevermind that he managed to pick up a caution and was subbed off rather early. It was just an awful day for QPR. Harry Redknapp's tactics were completely ineffective as his players were leaving Spurs wide open and providing little pressure on them. They had one decent attacking chance from Matt Phillips, but it sailed over the bar. Outside of Steven Caulker, who just racks up fantasy points regardless of how poor the team he plays for is, there is nothing attractive about their prospects right now. They need a guy like Mutch to start making some noise.

Cardiff City were beaten handily by Liverpool today 3-6, but young Jordon Mutch was a bright spot for the Bluebirds, playing a hand in all three Cardiff goals with a brace and an assist.

Mutch had been quiet, dealing with an injury since the beginning of the calendar year, but today he picked up where he left off since hamstring issues limited his playing time. The Bluebirds took an early lead thanks to a Fraizer Campbell pass from the goal line to Mutch who moved left and delivered a left footed strike to finish. Mutch then returned the favor after Liverpool equalized, by sending a through ball to Campbell, and the striker drilled it home. Then, with the game well in hand in the final minutes, Mutch grabbed his second goal of the afternoon with a header. Cardiff travel to West Brom next and while it is difficult to back a Bluebird on the road, let alone at home, Mutch deserves a look as a midfielder to use for the run in.

Jordon Mutch has returned to a full week of training without a setback and backs himself to be available for Cardiff City's match against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Mutch has been the Bluebirds most productive midfielder from an attacking standpoint this season, and their goal output has suffered greatly in his absence. While probably too soon to think of him in fantasy terms for the coming weekend, his sub 8m price tag and production earlier in the season should warrant interest going forward. He looks especially appealing next week, as Cardiff host lowly Fulham in a week when half the league is not playing.

Jordon Mutch was subbed off in yesterday's match against Aston Villa with a hamstring injury, the same hamstring that put him on the shelf in December.

The injury occurred when Mutch took a corner kick a half hour into the match, and he was removed two minutes later. He appears to be injury prone since a long run of consecutive 90 minute shifts back during the hectic festive schedule, as he has only been able to put in a full shift once in 2014. A productive young talent with fantasy relevance in the first half of the season, Mutch is off the radar until further notice.

Cardiff City played hard for their manager Malky Mackay, who is thought to be moments away from getting axed by owner Vincent Tan, but had no chance against the exploits of Luis Suarez in a 3-1 loss to Liverpool.

Supporters who traveled to Anfield were quite vocal about their support of Mackay, expressing loyalty for his efforts in gaining promotion for the Bluebirds long after the match was over but it appears not to be enough to save his job. Jordon Mutch, one of several young promising players on their squad, scored Cardiff's only goal on a header as he was completely unmarked at the back post on a free kick, giving him his 3rd tally of the season. It remains to be seen how the team will perform going forward if under new management but Steven Caulker should continue to be a solid investment.

Jordon Mutch scored a spectacular goal in added time as Cardiff won their first Premier League away game.

Mutch's game winning goal put Cardiff up 2-1 in the 92nd minute. Fulham had equalized after Cardiff opened up the scoring early with a goal from Steven Caulker but they couldn't hold on to the tie and lost a valuable point at home. Cardiff dominated the majority of the game and it paid off with the late goal. Fulham look to be relegation bound and need to make changes quickly before it's too late.
