Hull City midfielder David Meyler has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.
The Republic of Ireland international suffered a medial knee ligament injury during training last week. Meyler has featured sporadically for the Tigers this season, sometimes holding down a starting place in 28 appearances in all competitions. He scored just once, against Liverpool back in September. His club wished him well with his recovery from the blow on their official site. Mon, Apr 17, 2017 02:59:00 PM

Hull City midfielder David Meyler has stated that he is not interested in leaving the Tigers in the January transfer window.

Republic of Ireland international Meyler, has been linked with a move away after seeing frustratingly limited game time in recent weeks. Manager Mike Phelan has looked beyond Meyler after initially relying on him in the opening gameweeks, favouring new signing Markus Henriksen, Jake Livermore who is now playing in midfield again and even Tom Huddlestone. However, Meyler is determined to stay and fight for his place and to help the Tigers survive the drop which currently looks inevitable.

David Meyler continued Swansea City's post-United hangover as he scored the only goal in Hull City's 1-0 win to send the Swans out of the League Cup.

It was a decidedly reserve side that Garry Monk fielded to face recently relegated Hull City. That showed as the Swans shot frequently but inaccurately throughout the match. Hull City only managed six shots total but five of them were on target and one went in compared to 18 shots, four on target and none in for the Premier League side. At least the Swans can take solace in the fact that their first team group was barely involved.

David Meyler had what can only be described as an outlier performance against Sunderland in Week 28.

Meyler has played regularly this season but it generally doesn't have much to show for it from a fantasy point of view. His season total, including Week 28, is 91 points in the Yahoo format. If you're wondering why we call Week 28 an outlier, the 12 points Meyler put up represented 13% of his season total. He didn't do anything exceptional with a shot on target, three tackles won, two passes won and a successful cross but it's more like a month's worth of production for Meyler than a week's worth.

David Meyler and Hull City gave the defending champions everything they could handle as they took a point home from the Etihad.

David Meyler put Hull City ahead in the first half and it took City until stoppage time to draw even where it ended. Ahmed Elmohamedy (early) and Sergio Aguero (late) hit the crossbar and Manchester City dominated the second half but the outcome was representative of the performances of the two teams. City can consider themselves lucky to have clawed back at point on a James Milner free kick in extra time.

David Meyler sustained a back injury in mid-week against West Brom in League Cup action and may or may not make it back in time for Hull City's Week 6 match with Manchester City.

It is likely that Meyler would have dropped back to the bench for Hull City's match-up with the defending league champions as his start against the Baggies came at the expense of rested central midfielders Jake Livermore and Tom Huddlestone. It is only worth noting because it likely means that neither of those players is as likely to get a late match substitution because Meyler may not be available.

Goals from David Meyler and Andrew Robertson inside the first 12 minutes were enough to dispose of Stuttgart 1-2 as Hull City wrap up their preseason schedule in Germany.

Steve Bruce fielded an XI with only a couple of projected starters for the upcoming season as they are amid the qualifying stages of the Europa League and still comes out a winner. The positive outcome does require the manager to re-evaluate his plans for the season opener. Like last year, expect a steady shift between 3-5-2 and 4-4-2 formations.

David Meyler scored his first Premier League goal in dramatic fashion, giving Hull City a 2-1 lead, which would prove to be the game winner, as the Tigers were able to play to a 3-1 final and beat Liverpool for the first time in 17 attempts.

The goal came as a result of Liverpool's inability to clear a header from Curtis Davies that landed in the middle of the Reds' 18-yard box, and caromed around for too long, eventually landing at the foot of Meyler who fired past Simon Mignolet's left. The Tigers had scored more than one goal this season in only one match previous, and this is a positive sign that their attack is heading in the right direction. Tough sledding ahead though, as they have to turn around and travel to the Emirates midweek.
