Everton will be without midfielders Steven Pienaar and Leon Osman for the trip to Watford this weekend ahead of a double gameweek.
Manager Roberto Martinez confirmed that midfielder Gareth Barry will return from suspension, but Osman and Pienaar will likely remain on the training table: "Leon Osman picked up a knock that kept out of the squad to face Manchester United - the same as Steven Pienaar, but Steven will be training today so apart from that it should be the same squad as last week." Osman has only made six league appearances this season despite making the bench on 22 occasions. Meanwhile, Pienaar has only made three appearances as a substitute after struggling with injuries throughout the season. Thu, Apr 7, 2016 02:46:00 PM

Leon Osman made his second consecutive start, scored a goal, and had a great fantasy day for Everton in their recent road win at West Ham United.

It was a 16-point affair in the Yahoo game for the veteran midfielder and he is still available in the Yahoo game for below 9m. Based on his positive display in contrast to what has been an up-and-down Toffees side, one would expect Roberto Martinez to stick with him in the final match against Spurs. Though Tottenham are coming off a clean sheet, their defense has not been consistent, so having an attacking Toffee in the final week of the season isn't such a bad idea.

Leon Osman's status for the weekend is still in the air but Roberto Martinez has revealed that the veteran has shown progress in his recovery.

Martinez will not make a determination on Osman's availability until matchday on Sunday, so for fantasy purposes, he needs to be ruled out. His absence increases the likelihood of a start for Ross Barkley. James McCarthy should be ready to partner Gareth Barry in midfield, with Aaron Lennon and Kevin Mirallas out wide. This could be a tough test for Manchester United.

Roberto Martinez has revealed Leon Osman could recover from a soft tissue problem in time to face Burnley this weekend at Goodison Park.

Osman limped to the sidelines against Swansea last time out because of a minor groin issue but subsequent scans and tests have revealed the injury is not as bad as originally feared. Martinez will give the midfielder as much time as possible to prove his fitness but Everton do have options if Osman fails a late test with Steven Pienaar the player most likely to step-up. Romelu Lukaku is expected to return to the squad although the striker won’t be fit-enough for 90 minutes while Bryan Oviedo should be back by early May having joined the main group in training. Aiden McGeady has recovered from a minor back complaint leaving Tony Hibbert as the only long-term absentee.

Roberto Martinez has confirmed Leon Osman could face another two weeks on the sidelines as the midfielder aims to overcome the ankle injury he picked up during the defeat to Manchester City as The Etihad.

Osman suffered ankle ligament damage and wore a protective boot while further assessments were carried out fearing the 33 year old – who has just signed a contract extension – may require surgery. However his latest MRI scan has revealed the tear is not as bad as originally feared and the midfielder could be back following the FA Cup tie against West Ham United. Everton are hoping welcome Kevin Mirallas and James McCarthy for the visit of Stoke in Week 18 while John Stones is in line for his first start since October.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez stated in a recent press conference that he does not expect Leon Osman to miss action due to the eye injury he suffered in the Toffees defeat of Arsenal over the weekend.

Osman has been stitched up and participated in the opening training session with the rest of the first team, so signs point to the veteran midfielder making the squad for the trip to Sunderland. Whether or not Martinez wants to go with him or Ross Barkley, who was effective as his replacement, to play behind Romelu Lukaku in that match remains to be seen.

Everton's important clash with Tottenham Hotspur did not finish as hoped, as they came away empty handed in a 1-0 defeat.

It was one of those results that did not reflect the stat sheet as the Toffees led in stats like shots on target and successful tackles by a wide margin, but could not find the net while Spurs converted their only significant chance of the match. Leon Osman was the most active for Everton, registering five shots, but with absence of Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley relegated to a bench role, there simply wasn't enough firepower to break through. The Toffees are now set to embark on an extremely kind run in the schedule, starting with a home game against Crystal Palace next.

Leon Osman celebrated his 300th Premier League appearance in style by scoring the opening goal of the game and later providing an assist as he helped steer Everton to a 4-1 victory over Fulham.

Osman was included in the XI for Everton as James McCarthy's injury opened up a spot in midfield and the veteran did not disappoint Roberto Martinez. It was a bit of a backward performance fantasy wise for the Toffees as a clean sheet and a goal or more from Lukaku was the expectation but Everton conceded a penalty and it was goals from most of Everton's front six but Lukaku could only muster a last second assist. Look for more production in the coming weeks as the schedule is extremely kind.

Coming on at the hour mark to replace Ross Barkley, Everton midfielder Leon Osman was the catalyst Roberto Martinez needed, as he provided a goal and an assist to account for the Toffee's scores, resulting in a 0-2 victory against Aston Villa.

Tim Howard was the hero early, saving a penalty taken by Christian Benteke. Much of the first hour of the match was end to end, but there were no goals to account for. Martinez then made the right decision in bringing on Osman. Attacking down the left side, Osman was the middleman between Baines and Lukaku that resulted in the Lukaku goal. He then scored himself to wrap up the points for Everton thanks to a Gareth Barry assist. The lack of guaranteed pitch time makes Osman a troublesome play in fantasy.
