Aston Villa's top flight status went further down the drain today as they put in another shambolic performance, losing to Chelsea 0-4.
Aston Villa were probably never going to get a positive result today but they never put up much of a fight on both sides of the ball and have clearly lost any incentive to battle their opponents. Jordan Ayew had a couple of chances, a free kick and once from open play, when it was still somewhat of a game in the first half, but that was it from an attacking point of view. The defense crumbled with Aly Cissokho bringing down Alexandre Pato to award Chelsea a penalty and Alan Hutton getting a second yellow card to leave the Villans with ten men. The latter will miss next week's match against AFC Bournemouth, but it would hardly seem to matter for their hopes of a positive result. Sat, Apr 2, 2016 09:55:00 AM

Alan Hutton's second-half own goal seals Aston Villa's fate in a 2-0 loss to Chelsea as the pressure continues to grow on manager Tim Sherwood.

There wasn't much Hutton could do to avoid the own goal as Diego Costa's shot from inside the box deflected off Hutton's heel and into the back of the net. Villa were generous with the goals today with Brad Guzan's poor pass ending up in Chelsea possession for the club's first goal as Costa coolly gave the defending champions a first-half lead. Aston Villa only managed one shot on goal despite an attack-oriented lineup that saw Jordan Ayew, starting in place of the injured Gabriel Agbonlahor, paired with Rudy Gestede up top while being supported by Carles Gil and Jack Grealish on the wings. Sherwood's men have now lost each of their past five Premier League matches and have only taken one point from their past eight matches following their season-opening win at Bournemouth.

Alan Hutton should be available for selection in week 36 after recovering from an ankle injury.

Hutton was dealing with ankle ligament problems but is now healthy and should be fit to face Everton this weekend. It is not guaranteed that he will be selected in the starting XI though, partially due to form and fitness issues, so we wouldn't recommend using him in fantasy this week.

Alan Hutton will miss gameweek 32 with an ankle problem.

Hutton was injured during Aston Villa's last game and will be forced to miss at least one match due to the injury. Matthew Lowton will probably start in his place but it is tough to play him in fantasy considering Aston Villa travel to White Hart Lane this weekend and have an off week in gameweek 33. Hutton is droppable in most leagues considering his upside doesn't justify a wasted roster spot for two weeks in a row.

Alan Hutton has been ruled out of tonights’ game at Villa Park after failing to overcome an ankle injury.

Hutton picked up the problem at Old Trafford on Saturday and becomes the latest in a long line of players currently receiving treatment at Bodymoor Heath Training Ground - it’s unclear whether the Scottish international will be available for GW32. Hutton joins Scott Sinclair and Ashley Westwood [both hamstring] as QPR arrive for a crucial bottom of the table clash which will see the Hoops leapfrog Villa should they win forcing the Claret & Blues into the relegation zone. Tim Sherwood could be forced to call upon a number of players who may be medically fit but not fully match-fit [Joe Cole, Ron Vlaar, Kieran Richardson and Nathan Baker] for the game as the Villains attempt to manage an ever-growing injury list.

Alan Hutton is the safest Aston Villa defensive option for the double week.

Hutton was Aston Villa’s forgotten man for much of Paul Lambert’s tenure, but he enjoyed a reprieve at the beginning of this season and hasn’t looked back. Showing glimpses of the form that once tempted Tottenham to pay £10million for his services, Hutton has been rewarding fantasy managers via a variety of attacking and defensive contributions, averaging 8 fantasy points per match over the course of the campaign. Despite Tim Sherwood moving the Scottish international to a less familiar left sided defensive role since arriving at the club, the two matches in a week should provide him the opportunity to return double figures.

Alan Hutton will return to Aston Villa's squad but his return to starting XI is not guaranteed.

Hutton returns from a ban, but new manager Tim Sherwood is rumored to think highly of Leandro Bacuna and Matthew Lowton, who could both earn another start this weekend. Hutton is a risky fantasy play this weekend due to the circumstances, but keep an eye out for his place in the rotation. He is probably worth holding onto in draft leagues for another week or two until the situation clears up.

Alan Hutton will miss Aston Villa's next two matches due to being booked once again.

Hutton has now accumulated 10 yellow cards on the season and that comes with a two match ban. The first of those will be served in the FA Cup, but the second will be in the Premier League against Sunderland. If you have Hutton, find a replacement for week 29.

Aston Villa's defensive crisis is at an epic stage with no fewer than six defenders potentially missing out on Saturday's trip to Newcastle including Alan Hutton.

Hutton hasn't been ruled out entirely but he, like most of the rest of Villa's defense, could well miss out on the trip to Newcastle. Leandro Bacuna is likely to deputize for Hutton if he is unable to play. That swap, combined with the other likely absences could leave Villa vulnerable at the back as Bacuna is known as more of an attacking presence than a defensive one.

Two defenders scored on Sunday in Aston Villa's 2-1 win over Leicester.

Ciaran Clark got the first half equalizer and Alan Hutton got the second half game-winner after conceding the opening goal in the 13th minute to Leicester forward Leonardo Ulloa. There was end to end action thru the entire 90 minutes in this one with Villa having the slight edge in shots on goal (6/4). Villa now sit in 11th place overall while Leicester remain 20th.

Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton continues to impress fantasy managers and provided his owners with ten points this weekend.

Hutton didn't get a clean sheet but provided stats in five different categories to get to the double digit points mark this weekend. He has 69% more points than the second highest fantasy scorer on his team - Andreas Weimann. For a defender to pull of something like this is incredible. On top of that, Hutton is the fourth best fantasy defender this year, ahead of the likes of Nathaniel Clyne, Branislav Ivanovic, and Patrick van Aanholt. Being owned by only 5.05% of Yahoo! managers, Hutton is a fantastic differential play going forward.

Aston Villa nearly pulled off another surprising clean sheet, keeping Manchester City out as the match entered the final ten minutes, but the visitors would finally break through twice, and the Lions suffered a 0-2 loss.

Villa are amid a horrific schedule that has seen them play last year's top four over four straight weeks. Yet they came oh, so close to fetching their 2nd cleanie in that stretch and 4th of the season, but the pressure from City finally boiled over in the end. Still, Villa should be feeling confident going forward with their defense, and fantasy managers should be as well in plus matches, with Hutton being the best play among their defenders to date. On a side note, Christian Benteke made his first appearance of the season as a substitute. Villa would be a complete threat if their star forward can stay fit and find some form.

Following his manager's footsteps, Alan Hutton has signed a new three-year deal with Aston Villa.

The 29 year old defender has completed a complete turnaround under Paul Lambert. He is a regular starter this year after being frozen out for the previous two years under Lambert. The deal is reportedly worth around £40,000 a week. Aston Villa are bound to regress after their hot start, and Hutton will likely lose some of his value as the season goes on. He remains an option in deep leagues and in plus matchups.

Alan Hutton should be high on the list of defenders you're considering for Week 3 of the Yahoo Fantasy Premier League game.

Many people had forgotten Hutton was still at Villa before his name showed up in the line-ups on opening day, but the Scotland defender has already started making up for lost time after rebuilding his relationship with Paul Lambert. He was excellent in the win at Stoke and followed that up with a man-of-the-match performance - and 16 fantasy points - against Newcastle, so should be considered for the home game against Hull.

Alan Hutton made his "second" debut for Aston Villa after being loaned out for the past two years.

Hutton was having trouble making it into Villa's squad in the recent past but has recently returned and been one of Villa's best players in the pre-season. That form continued during the Premier League season as Hutton helped Villa to a clean sheet to start off the season. The 29-year-old says he feels great and is happy to be back in the first team. His 10 fantasy points are on the high end of expectations but we won't be surprised to see him average around 6-8 fantasy points this season.
