When it rains, it pours, and Watford's first loss of the season was exactly that: a 6-0 home defeat to Manchester City.
Watford goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes, who was one of the top point-getting keepers of the season entering the weekend, faced 28 shots on the afternoon while the Hornets themselves could only muster one on target. Daryl Janmaat and Jose Holebas returned to the lineup, but that was seemingly the only positive news for Watford, who were blown out like a candle in the wind with Sir Elton John in attendance. Heurelho Gomes faces a late fitness check as the Hornets travel to the South Coast to face Bournemouth in Week 22 action.

Bournemouth have been a difficult team to predict this season after crushing Swansea 3-0, taking Arsenal to the limit in a 3-3 draw and losing 3-1 to Hull City over their past three matches. That makes predicting the value of a goalkeeper facing the Cherries difficult under any circumstances. Traveling to face them and facing uncertain health makes Heurelho Gomes a massive unknown for Match Week 22 and should probably lead fantasy managers to avoid him if at all possible.

Watford drew 0-0 with Middlesbrough on Saturday after an emotional pre-match tribute to legendary manager and football icon Graham Taylor.

'One Graham Taylor' rang around Vicarage before the match as football icon Graham Taylor, who passed earlier this week, was remembered by all in attendance. Watford were the better side throughout the match and had chances to seal a victory, however, the Hornet's were unable to find the net. After a dull first half, Watford pushed following the restart but saw their efforts denied by Boro keeper Victor Valdes. While the draw keeps Watford in 14th, with 23 points, they will be sweating the health of their goalkeeper, as Gomes was forced off with a back problem on 63-minutes.

Stoke City overcame Watford at Vicarage Road 1-0 in a tight encounter. However, nobody could deny they deserved it.

Stoke took charge from the first whistle, creating opportunities while put under very little pressure by Watford. Diouf and Arnautovic on each wing were particularly impressive while the Hornets' contribution to the game mostly consisted of fouls which and poor control. They picked up three yellows in that opening period. However, Stoke took the lead through a Gomes OG. Charlie Adam pushed a defender in the box (unnoticed by the referee) to earn himself acres of space space for a header. It hit the upright and ricocheted off Gomes, who should have done better to prevent getting his name on the scoresheet for all the wrong reasons. Fantasy favourite Holebas was hauled off before 60 minutes as Mazzarri pushed for an equaliser by deploying Ighalo. However, Watford's increase in pressure yielded no results, as they failed to hit the target in the half in spite of a number of good chances. A deserved win for the Potters and Mark Hughes.

Watford is awaiting the status of starting goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes after sustaining a knee injury against Liverpool.

The Brazilian international wasn't around for most of the thrashing the Hornets took in a 6-1 loss at Anfield, leaving the game after Liverpool's second goal following a knock to his knee. Initial reports suggested Gomes suffered a bruised knee and no ligament damage, but the team's medical staff now fear something worse as swelling has yet to die down to allow the club to take scans and properly diagnose the problem. Gomes remains a doubt for the upcoming weekend against Leicester City, where Costel Pantilimon could take his place in goal.

Watford goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes left early with a knee injury over the weekend but it has been diagnosed as a bruise and he should return for Week 12.

It was ugly all around for the Hornets against Liverpool over the weekend but at least they didn't suffer a long term injury. Tests have shown that Heurelho Gomes only suffered a bruise and will be ready to go come Week 12 after the international break.

Heurelho Gomes is hoping the international break will help keep his run of consecutive Premier League games intact after leaving Anfield on crutches with his leg in a protective brace.

The 35-year-old has played in every domestic league game since the Hornets were promoted to the top flight in 2015/16 [49 matches], but Gomes’ first half departure in visible discomfort, suggests he could be set for a spell on the sidelines. As he attempted to thwart the Liverpool onslaught, Gomes dived to stop a stinging Philippe Coutinho drive on the half hour mark, and in doing so, injured his knee. Early reports suggest Gomes has damaged the outer knee ligament [lateral] which, depending on the extent of the strain, could mean between 4-12 weeks out. Costel Pantilimon, who has been restricted to domestic cup appearances since his arrival from Sunderland 10 months ago, is in line for his full Premier League debut when the fixtures recommence later this month.

Watford couldn't even manage a shot on goal against Hull City, but that didn't stop the side from taking all three points in a 1-0 win.

The Watford attack struggled to break through against a stalwart Hull City defense, but it was Hull City's defense that gave the Hornets the win after Hull captain Michael Dawson turned in Daryl Janmaat's cross in the 82nd minute to break a 0-0 deadlock. Watford has found its groove as the win extended its unbeaten run to four Premier League matches. Goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes and a three-man back-line have been at the center of it all, as the Hornets have recorded three straight clean sheets to see them rise to seventh in the table.

Watford put forth another solid defensive display and were able to pick up a point on the road, playing Swansea City to a 0-0 draw.

Odion Ighalo was given a chance to start again with Isaac Success unavailable, but he and Troy Deeney did not have much influence in this match that really didn't get going until the second half. It was Heurelho Gomes that deserves the most credit for securing a result, coming up with a few big saves from shots taken by Modou Barrow, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Mike van der Hoorn. Etienne Capoue, who was the attacking hero in the beginning of the season was subbed off early after picking up a yellow card. Watford should feel fortunate to come away with a point today as the Swans were much more in position to score. Hosting Hull next week should be the perfect medicine for their attack and third straight clean sheet may also be in order.

Heurelho Gomes made two excellent saves in the second half to preserve a Watford clean sheet against Chelsea at Vicarage Road.

Watford were the better team in the first half of the match but couldn't break through against Thibaut Courtois. In the second half it was Chelsea who were the better side who couldn't put the ball past the opposing goalkeeper. First Branislav Ivanovic put a short range effort right at the former Spurs shotstopper and then Gomes had to dive to his left to keep out header bound for the top corner from the head of Diego Costa by way of a slight deflection off of Allan Nyom. Gomes certainly looked like he is feeling the pressure created by the arrival of Costel Pantilimon.

Heurelho Gomes travelled back with his Watford teammates on Saturday evening after the goalkeeper was given the all-clear having been stretchered off at Villa Park.

More than ten minutes of time were added as Gomes received lengthy treatment following a collision with Craig Cathcart. The defenders knee caught Gomes in the head and the veteran goalkeeper was left motionless on the Villa turf as his neck was carefully placed inside a protective brace before being carried off on a stretcher. Initial post-match reports indicated that Gomes may have been knocked unconscious with the possibility of concussion, however, a Watford official later confirmed that scan results were clear. Gomes also provided an update via social media. "Hi everyone, thanks for the messages, really appreciate. I'm much better now, my neck still very stiff, but I will be fine! On my way home!" His replacement, Giedrius Arlauskis, came on for his first Premier League appearance having signed from Romanian side Steaua Bucharest in the summer.

Gomes saw one Glenn Murray shot go past him from open play but he denied the former Crystal Palace man from the spot late in the match to preserve a 1-1 draw for the Hornets.

For the second weekend running, Quique Flores' men gave up a penalty that could have cost them the match. Last weekend Yohan Cabaye made no mistake and sent the Hornets to defeat from the spot. This weekend, with the score tied 1-1, Glenn Murray was unable to beat Gomes and a point was preserved. The Hornets will still be disappointed in the outcome given the extent of Bournemouth's injuries to their biggest two offseason acquisitions as well as leading scorer Callum Wilson. Also of note was the start of Nathan Ake on the left side of the defense for last weekend's guilty party Allan Nyom.

Heurelho Gomes and the Watford defense made a valiant effort for the first half but couldn't keep the City attack at bay for the entire 90 minutes and capitulated at the Etihad in Week 4 action.

Gomes was called upon frequently in the first half as Watford parked the bus in an attempt to frustrate Manchester City. It worked for 45 minutes as the teams went into halftime scoreless but it didn't last as Manchester City came storming out almost immediately after the second half kick-off. Bacary Sagna's cross put Raheem Sterling in and Gomes had no chance to stop him for the opener in the 47th minute. Fernandinho crushed a drive past Gomes in the 56th minute and that was the end of the scoring as City cruised to a 2-0 victory.

Tottenham have confirmed goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes will be leaving Tottenham when his contract expires in June.

Yes, Gomes is still at Spurs. The 33-year-old has been third choice behind Hugo Lloris and Brad Friedel for the past two seasons but has not made an appearance for the club since 2011 and spent a portion of last season on loan at Hoffenheim. Gomes will leave the club on a free transfer and it's likely he moves abroad rather than staying in the Premier League, where he developed a poor reputation after numerous high-profile mistakes.

Tottenham's forgotten goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes is a target for three clubs as he looks to secure a move away from White Hart Lane.

Yes, Gomes is still at Spurs. The 32-year-old is third choice behind Hugo Lloris and Brad Friedel and spent a portion of last season on loan at Hoffenheim. He came close to a permanent switch to the club only for AVB to block the move at the time, but it appears he'll finally be allowed to move on this time. Although there is no mention of the three clubs interested in the former Brazil keeper, it's more likely he'll move abroad rather than stay in the Premier League where he developed a poor reputation after numerous high-profile mistakes.
