Andre Schurrle is departing Chelsea after being sold to VL Wolfsburg on a four-and-a-half year deal.
Just moments after the deal for Juan Cuadrado became official, Schurrle's transfer was sealed with the Bundesliga side. Wolfsburg beat Bayern Munich 4-1 the other day and are building a team to challenge them for the title, which along with a nailed on spot in their XI, gives Schurrle plenty of motivation to make the move back to his home country. He had a few moments in the sun during his time at Stamford Bridge but now entering the prime age of his career, he can make more headlines as a regular at Wolfsburg. Mon, Feb 2, 2015 12:29:00 PM

Chelsea have completed the deal with Fiorentina for the purchase of Colombian international Juan Cuadrado for a fee of £27m.

It took a while for the deal to be confirmed but now Chelsea have the biggest signing for a Premier League club on deadline day so far, bringing in the coveted Cuadrado who impressed so much at last summer's World Cup where he helped get Colombia to the quarterfinals, amassing four assists during the tournament. Chelsea are still looking to ship out Andre Schurrle in a somewhat like-for-like swap as both players can play an advanced midfield position or as a central striker when called upon. How nailed on he will be for Jose Mourinho's side remains to be seen, but it would seem Willian stands to lose the most pitch time with this move. Clearly, Cuadrado has the stuff to be a force in fantasy but it would probably be wise to wait on his services until we see him in action. Of course if his introductory price is ridiculously low, then he may warrant a stash on your fantasy bench.

After protesting that any move might be happening, Wolfsburg appear to be on the verge of signing Andre Schurrle on a permanent deal.

With Juan Cuadrado reportedly about to finalize his move from Fiorentina to Chelsea, the Blues had to find a way to balance the financial books. Their answer appears to be the long-rumored sale of out-of-favor winger Andre Schurrle to Wolfsburg. The German club have been denying that a move would happen for days but kicker is reporting that the move is now imminent.

Andre Schurrle missed Chelsea's FA Cup match with a back problem.

Jose Mourinho confirmed that Schurrle felt a little pain in his back today and that's the reason he missed out on the FA Cup match. Schurrle hasn't been able to crack Chelsea's rotation this season and his fantasy value is practically zero at the moment. There are rumors sending him back to Germany during the January transfer window, so you shouldn't hurry to add him in any fantasy league right now. If he somehow ends up on a different Premier League team, he should be added in fantasy immediately.

Wolfsburg are reportedly lining up a £23 million bid for Chelsea forward Andre Schurrle.

The 24-year-old suffered with a mystery illness early in the season which he believed contributed to his poor form. In his last two appearances for Chelsea, against Southampton on 28 December and in the FA Cup third-round victory over Watford, Mourinho opted to take him off at half-time. Ambitious Wolfsburg sense a deal can be done and want to test the Premier League leaders resolve. They believe Schurrle, who joined for £18 million from Bayer Leverkusen in 2013, is keen to move.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho stated after today's Champions League match that Andre Schurrle is still in his plans.

The future of the winger has been in doubt after Willian has taken over his starting spot this season. Mourinho sounded optimistic about the German's chances of being able to compete at Chelsea but added that Schurrle must adapt to the Premier League more. Schurrle is not a fantasy option at the moment but has shown he can produce if given the playing time. There were rumors earlier in the year about Schurrle headed back to Germany so keep an eye out on the situation in January.

Andre Schurrle is being used as bait in Chelsea's pursuit of Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus.

A series of Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United, are said to be interested in Marco Reus. Chelsea are rumored to be offering Andre Schurrle in return in order to secure the youngsters' signature. Schurrle has lost his starting spot in Chelsea's rotation lately as Willian, Ramires, and Oscar have been preferred in his place. This deal makes sense on many levels.

Andre Schurrle missed Germany's qualifier against the Republic of Ireland with an illness.

Schurrle was suffering with flu symptoms and missed Germany's 1-1 draw against the Republic of Ireland. It's unknown if Schurrle will recover in time for this weekend's Premier League match but we'd assume five days is enough to beat the flu and we can expect to see him at least in the match-day squad. Check back on Friday for an update.

Chelsea were given a man advantage after Manchester City defender was sent off in the second half and promptly scored, but a dramatic equalizer by former club legend Frank Lampard left the two sides even in a 1-1 draw.

As expected, the two strong sides played each other tight from the get go, with yellow cards racking up much more frequently than attempts on goal. Once Zabaleta was sent off though, things opened up for Chelsea and a counter attack saw Eden Hazard deliver a low, accurate cross to Schurrle at the back post for an easy tap in. Diego Costa was finally shown to be human, having a rare off day as he perhaps continues to feel the pangs of a nagging hamstring injury.

Chelsea's Andre Schurrle could be a good midfield option to focus on as Swansea visit Stamford Bridge in Week 4.

If you're looking to supplement Cesc Fabregas, or even looking for an alternative in your fantasy midfield then we'd take a look at Schurrle. The German winger will come up against Neil Taylor, who struggled against Adnan Januzaj in Week 1 and was subbed after an early booking, so expect Jose Mourinho to explore that potential weakness in the Swansea defence.

Andre Schurrle started and played spectacularly in Chelsea's win over Burnley yesterday.

Schurrle had an amazing World Cup, winning the trophy with Germany, and has taken his form to the Premier League. Chelsea played really well with Cesc Fabregas organizing the attack from the middle and that allowed Eden Hazard and Andre Schurrle to make great runs down the flanks. One of those runs resulted in a brilliant goal for Schurrle. The German winger can score and create chances for his teammates and seems like the number one choice at right-wing this year. Willian will certainly get playing time but we'd feel safe about using Schurrle in fantasy.

Germany have won the 2014 FIFA World Cup with a late extra time goal from Mario Gotze.

The final scored was 1-0 in favor of Germany. Germany and Argentina both played well in the final, but the Germans proved to the better team. Chelsea's Andre Schurrle came on in the 30th minute to replace the injured Christoph Kramer and had a phenomenal match. Schurrle provided pace down the left hand side and the Argentine defense had trouble containing him. The move also allowed Mesut Ozil to play in his favorite position in the middle of the pitch. At the end, it was Schurrle who plays a magnificent ball to Mario Gotze, who chested the ball down and scored with a nice volley. The Germans were undoubtedly the best team in the tournament and fully deserve the victory.

Germany destroyed Brazil 7-1 in what is one of the biggest World Cup shocks of all time.

This is the biggest embarrassment for Brazil since they lost a World Cup final at home in 1950. The German team scored an incredible four goals in just six minutes in the first half and went into halftime with a 5-0 lead. Thomas Muller, Miroslav Klose, Toni Kroos, and Sami Khedira all scored in that historic first half. In the second, Chelsea substitute Andre Schurrle came on to score two goals in finish off Brazil. In the late minutes of the match, fellow Chelsea star Oscar scored a consolation goal for Brazil as they walked off the pitch as one of the biggest embarrassments the country has ever experienced. Germany face the winner of Argentina and the Netherlands in the final on Sunday.

Germany were not dominant by any means but an early goal by Mats Hummels was all that was required to fend off France as they head to the World Cup semi-final round for a record fourth straight time after a 0-1 win.

In a match that lacked the drama we have grown accustomed to in this tournament, there was still a flash of excellence when Toni Kroos delivered a superb ball from a deep free kick that found the head of Mats Hummels who guided it home. Hummels becomes the first defender in World Cup 2014 with two goals. Otherwise the attack lacked fluidity, though a substitute appearance by Schurrle in the final quarter hour offered a noticeably upgraded threat. Germany now await the winner of Brazil v Colombia later today.

Andre Schurrle starred in Germany's 6-1 blowout in over Armenia.

The German team dominated from start to finish despite failing to score in the first half. The second half started quickly and Andre Schurrle opened up the scoring in the 52nd minute. Lucas Podolski, Benedikt Howedes, Miroslav Klose, and Mario Gotze(2x) finished off the scoring for Germany. The German team looks incredibly dangerous and will be prime candidates to win this year's World Cup. The match saw them lose one of their big weapons to injury - Marco Reus - but the squad has capable replacements ready.
