Nicklas Helenius leaves Aston Villa to join Aalborg on a season-long loan.
Helenius never established himself at Villa and couldn't even earn playing time after Christian Benteke and Libor Kozak went down for the season. Villa are hoping he can gain some momentum with Aalborg, raising his price so they can at least sell him at a profit. Helenius seems unlikely to be a fantasy relevant Premier League player in the future. Aug 4 - 6:40 PM

Nicklas Helenius is reportedly ready to leave Aston Villa after an unsuccessful season in the Premier League.

Helenius' agent has stated that the striker is not in Aston Villa's plans and that is not surprising after he only made six substitute appearances for the club all year long. Injuries to strikers Christian Benteke and Libor Kozak gave Helenius no new opportunities and he has lost the trust of the Villa coaching staff. His manager also stated that Helenius is a better player after this experience and that he is looking forward to his future.

Nicklas Helenius could be loaned out by Aston Villa during the January transfer window so he can get playing time and develop further.

Helenius has been behind Christian Benteke and Libor Kozak at Villa but he needs playing time to further develop. He is a young prospect that came to Villa with a lot of hype but it seems he is not yet ready for Premier League action. Loaning him out to a smaller club would be a wise decision for both Aston Villa and Helenius.

Aston Villa striker Nicklas Helenius is confident he can contribute to Villa's team and is awaiting his chance to shine.

Villa signed Helenius over the summer but good play from Christian Benteke and Andreas Weimann has prevented him from getting much playing time. The signing of Libor Kozak was an even bigger blow, as Kozak seems to have a strong hold on backing up Benteke. Helenius is more likely to earn playing time as a supporting striker in place of Weimann. So far this season, he only has two appearances in the Premier League, both off the bench. He is a player for the future as there are better options right now.

New Aston Villa striker Nicklas Helenius scored in his first game with Aston Villa.

Helenius scored from a nice header against SV Rodinghausen in Villa's first pre-season friendly. Helenius could prove instrumental to Villa's plans if Christian Benteke leaves this summer. If Benteke stays it will be interesting to see where Helenius fits with Benteke and Weimann having already established roles in Villa's lineup.
