West Ham has confirmed the signing of Premier League veteran Patrice Evra on a short-term contract until the end of June 2018.
Evra has been without a club since he was released by Marseille in November and banned from UEFA competition for an altercation with a fan. Capped 81 times by France, the 36-year-old arrives at West Ham having previously worked under David Moyes at former club Manchester United. The 36-year-old won five Premier League titles and made 379 appearances during his eight-and-half-years at United, with 30 of those matches coming under Moyes in 2013/14. With Arthur Masuaku serving a six-match ban, Evra will likely serve as a vastly-experienced back-up on the left side of defense. Feb 7 - 11:00 AM

The French international last played for Marseille in November, before he was released by the club and banned from UEFA competition for an altercation with a fan. Patrice Evra committed a foul in the box against Romania and then had to watch as Bogdan Stancu converted the spot kick in the 65th minute to draw the score level at 1-1.

France's Olivier Giroud-provided lead lasted for approximately eight minutes as Patrice Evra committed a poor foul in the box. The foul highlighted the potential Achilles Heel of the France squad with Bacary Sagna and Evra representing nearly 70 years worth of outside back.

Patrice Evra's long-rumored move from Manchester United to Juventus has been confirmed by the Turin club via their official Twitter account.

Manchester United have had an interesting summer at the left back position. Seldom-used reserve Alex Buttner left early in the transfer window after Luke Shaw arrived for a wildly expensive fee. Evra's departure means that Manchester United have a 19-year-old and not much else at the position. Recruiting a high quality reserve (Ricardo Rodriguez and Daley Blind) will be difficult because it will be (rightly) hard to convince anyone with prospects that Luke Shaw won't get the majority of the minutes. At the same time, it will be hard for Louis Van Gaal to rely on such a young player consistently when the stakes get higher. United's next step will be very interesting.

Despite having just signed a one-year extension, Patrice Evra has been linked with a move to Juventus in Serie A.

The arrival of Luke Shaw at Old Trafford for a huge transfer fee means that Patrice Evra is unlikely to be the sure fire starter he has been throughout his tenure at United. This has apparently encouraged Juventus to make an offer for the French international who apparently wants to continue on as a regular starter on a Champions League team. The rumor mill has United chasing Swiss standout Ricardo Rodriguez as a replacement (quite why a player in his prime coming off a great World Cup would sign up to be a reserve behind Luke Shaw is beyond me but that's what the rumors are saying).

Contrary to widespread rumors, Patrice Evra won't be leaving Manchester United for Serie A this summer.

The veteran left back has agreed to a one year extension to his contract. Whether this changes United's plan to make a huge bid for Southampton's Luke Shaw remains to be seen. With Shaw still very young it could be that United would want one year of overlap to ensure the presence of a veteran for critical matches in the Premier League as Shaw acclimates to life on a bigger stage.

Patrice Evra missed out on United's FA Cup loss to Swansea but will likely be available for the Capital One Cup match against Sunderland as well as United's upcoming Premier League schedule.

The French full back had a strong first half of the season after questions were asked about declining form over the past 18 months or so. As the first half of the season came to a close, he had definitely started looking a bit tired and his name started appearing on the injury report. David Moyes may have lost the battle against Swansea over the weekend but resting Evra may help him over the second half of the season by keeping his starting left back fresh. Even if Evra is available, it wouldn't be surprising if Moyes left him on the bench for the COC match.

It is being reported by BBC reporter, and MUTV Presenter, Mandy Henry that Manchester United's doubtful players - Patrice Evra, Nemanja Vidic, Chris Smalling, and Marouane Fellaini - are indeed out of the Aston Villa match.

United's team sheet could look similar to the one that played in midweek against Shaktar Donetsk. Alexander Buttner is likely to keep his spot at left back, though Fabio could also come into the squad. Both have shown to be useful fantasy players on their day, especially the Dutchman. It would certainly be a high-risk, high-reward gamble.

Patrice Evra joins Nemanja Vidic, Chris Smalling and Marouane Fellaini as doubts for Manchester United's trip to Aston Villa in Week 16.

None of the four doubts have been ruled all the way out so the best way to characterize the United defense for Week 16 is as an uncertain mess in the eyes of fantasy managers. David De Gea and Wayne Rooney are sure to start but who lines up between the two is a bit of a crap shoot with the exception of Phil Jones. What's worse, the uncertainty also undermines any proper valuation of United's defense for fantasy purposes. If Evra and Vidic are absent or playing in a diminished capacity then it's hard to put much value on any of United's defenders or De Gea. If both are healthy then you might put some hope in a rare road clean sheet against a Villa team that has been struggling this season.

Monaco have been spending like crazy and among their latest rumored targets is Manchester United duo of Nani and Patrice Evra.

Patrice Evra's season was uneven to say the least with his defending declining rapidly while he continued to be an above average attacker from the left back position. Nani's performances (and opportunities) were down significantly this season as well. Both players still have something to contribute but maybe not enough for Manchester United. Monaco has seen all of this and is rumored to be preparing offers for both as they look to continue their summer of spending. Leighton Baines is a rumored replacement for Evra should he go.
