Cincinnati quarterback Zach Collaros (ankle) will likely start for the Bearcats during the Liberty Bowl on Saturday.
"All signs lead toward him starting, but right now it’s not definite," said head coach Butch Jones. "He's looked good." Jones did hedge his statement by saying Collaros and backup Munchie Legaux have been taking the same number of reps in practice as a precaution, however. The return of Collaros from his fractured ankle injury would be a big lift for the Bearcats, who went 2-2 after the senior went down early on Nov. 12. Cincinnati quarterback Zach Collaros still feels some pain in his healing ankle, but he has been sharp in practice and is likley to play in the Liberty Bowl against Vanderbilt.

Collaros fractured his ankle Nov. 12 against West Virginia, so it's natural he would feel some discomfort when pushing off or cutting. Overall, he has progressed very well and may not only play, but start the Dec. 31 bowl game.

Cincinnati quarterback Zach Collaros (ankle) says he's feeling "optimistic" he can play in the Liberty Bowl on Dec. 31.

The senior quarterback has made significant progress and has begun participating in 7-on-7 drills in practice after fracturing the ankle Nov. 12 against West Virginia. For Collaros, his mobility will be the key as he rushed for eight touchdowns this season, as well as throwing for 1,860 yards and 14 more scores. If he cannot go, look for the Bearcats to continue using Munchie Legaux and Jordan Luallen in his place.

Cincinnati quarterback Zach Collaros could practice next week, one month after fracturing his ankle.

Collaros is two weeks ahead on his rehab schedule and could be back under center for the Bearcats’ Dec. 31 Liberty Bowl date with Vanderbilt. He fractured his ankle on Nov. 12 against West Virginia and finished his regular season with 1,860 yards passing and 14 touchdowns. Collaros also ran for 242 yards and 8 TDs. It’s is his ability to run and cut that will determine his availability leading up to the game. Sophomore Munchie Legaux started the last three games.

Cincinnati quarterback Zach Collaros may not return from an ankle injury he suffered in Saturday’s loss to West Virginia.

The Bearcats control their own destiny as far as the Big East title is concerned, but they are not planning to have Collaros around for next week’s game at Rutgers. The senior was carted off the Paul Brown Stadium turf with a right ankle injury. He was replaced by Munchie Legaux, who threw for 144 yards (0/1) and ran for 77 with a TD.

Cincinnati quarterback Zach Collaros, who has won many games with his arm, is a real threat to run as well.

In a 26-23 win at Pitt last week that kept UC (3-0) atop the Big East, Collaros failed to throw a TD for the first time this season and was picked twice. But he completed two drives with rushing touchdowns. The senior can get it done any which way and he enters Saturday’s battle for first place against West Virginia (Paul Brown Stadium) having accounted for 22 touchdowns with eight of them on the ground. He has 16-career rushing TDs.

Cincinnati quarterback Zach Collaros capped a 70-yard drive with a 2-yard TD run with 12 seconds remaining to lift the Bearcats past USF, 37-34.

For Collaros, the game-winning TD was his fifth of the game and second on the ground. He threw for 389 yards and 3/2 and both his touchdown runs were in the decisive fourth quarter when he accounted for three scores.

Collaros returned to practice earlier in the week and all signs point to him returning versus the Mountaineers.

ESPN reports that Cincinnati quarterback Zach Collaros (knee) is expected to start this weekend against West Virginia. 

The off week has done Collaros and the Bearcats good, and he should be ready to roll in Morgantown.

With an off week, Cincinnati quarterback Zach Collaros will be limited in what he's allowed to do in practice.  “That’s where this off week comes in where he can get the extra rehab,” coach Butch Jones said. “We’ll know more next week. He’ll be lucky if he takes any reps (this week.)”

The bye week couldn't come at a better time. Collaros will have an extra week to let his knee heal and get ready for West Virginia on Nov. 13.

Cincinnati quarterback Zach Collaros practiced again on Thursday  (extent unknown), however he is officially listed as questionable for Saturday's game against Syracuse.

It doesn't look like we are going to get a concrete yes or no answer until they lineup and play. Fantasy owners should make the appropriate lineup adjustments.

Cincinnati quarterback Zach Collaros (knee) practiced a little bit more on Wednesday than Tuesday, but still did not move around the field fluently. “I thought he looked sharp,” said coach Butch Jones. “His ball had good velocity on it. I also liked the things that Chazz (Anderson) is doing well. We’ll continue to monitor Zach and we’ll go with the guy who gives us the best opportunity to win.”

Collaros worked with the second unit as the Bearcats work to get Chazz Anderson up to speed in case he has to start Saturday against Syracuse. Right now we'd still consider Collaros questionable, but improving.

Cincinnati quarterback Zach Collaros (bruised knee) practiced for a bit today, and then he went to receive some medical treatment.

Collaros appears to be a very doubtful start for this week against Syracuse. Chazz Anderson would get the nod in Collaros' absence.

Cincinnati coach Butch Jones doesn't believe that quarterback Zach Collaros (knee) will require surgery, however he tells The Cincinnati Enquirer that he'd deem his star quarterback "questionable" at this point.

It sounds like Collaros could play this week against Syracuse, or he could miss a couple of weeks. We'll have to wait and see.

Cincinnati quarterback Zach Collaros sat out the last series of Friday night's game with what looked to be a left leg or knee injury. Collaros finished with 463 yards passing, three touchdowns and one interception. He also had 27 yards rushing.

Chazz Anderson took over on the final possession and moved the ball well, but was unable to get in the end zone to tie the game. The injury must be fairly serious to hold him out of such a critical drive.
