LSU offensive coordinator Gary Crowton has resigned from his post at LSU and will take up the same position under Randy Edsall at Maryland.
Crowton had lots of success at BYU but just couldn't produce many yards this season for the Tigers.  Crowton should be a good fit with the hard-running style of Edsall. Thu, Jan 13, 2011 09:00:00 PM

Maryland receiver Torrey Smith has decided to forgo his senior year and enter the 2011 NFL Draft. "I'm forgoing my last year of eligibility to enter the nfl draft #terpnation and all supporters I appreciate your support," Smith tweeted shortly after Maryland's bowl win.

The news doesn't come as a surprise. As we noted last week, Smith's will be looking to take care of his mom and family.

The Washington Post has a nice story on the hardships Maryland receiver Torrey Smith and his family went through as a child.

Smith graduated earlier in the week and, based on his family situation, it seems highly likely that the Dec. 29th Military Bowl against East Carolina will be his last as a Terp. Look for the junior receiver to declare for the 2011 NFL Draft.

Maryland wide receive Torrey Smith had seven catches for 157 yards and a touchdown at Virginia.

Smith has been scoring, but the yardage hasn't been good since Week Four against FIU.  Maybe an ankle/hamstring injury from earlier in the year was worse than Smith admitted, and he's ready to finish the year strong?

Maryland game breaking wide receiver Torrey Smith had eight grabs and a touchdown against Boston College.  Somehow, his longest grab went for nine yards, and he finished with just 34 yards on the day.

It was impossible for Smith to keep up the torrid pace he set early this season, but this is a little ridiculous.  He has too much ability to only average 4.3 yards, but at least he scored for the first time in three weeks.  Make sure he is in your lineup next week against Wake Forest.

Maryland wide receiver Torrey Smith had a disappointing two catches for 50 yards Saturday against Duke.

Of course, Smith has been on fire all season, has a juicy matchup and fizzles out.  Smith will get next week off to get back on the same page as his quarterback - whomever that may be.

Maryland expects wide receiver Torrey Smith to play following an undisclosed injury suffered last week. Smith, however, did not practice on Wednesday.

Apparently there was some doubt as to whether or not Smith was truly hurt. Apparently he is banged up, but should give it a go.

Maryland receiver Torrey Smith says that he was not injured last week against FIU last week.  "I was Jim Brown-ing it," Smith said about his apparent fake limp after ripping off a 68-yard score.

Smith has been en feugo so far this season and there is no reason to believe he'll slow down this week against Duke.

Maryland wide receiver Torrey Smith had eight catches for 159 yards and a touchdown against Florida International.

Smith had just seven grabs coming in, but is now up to five touchdowns on the season.  He did finish his 68-yard catch and run with a limp, appearing to injure his hamstring, but returned for one catch in the 4th quarter.  A permanent switch to Danny O'Brien under center would vault Smith into another tier at WR nationally.

Maryland wide receiver Torrey Smith caught just three balls today against West Virginia.  But they went for 149 yards and two touchdowns.

Smith limped off the field early in the 2nd quarter after a kickoff return, but clearly was unaffected.  Though quarterback play remains a question, Smith is too dynamic to not start as a WR3 option nationally.

Maryland wide receiver Torrey Smith caught just three balls for 41 yards, but two of them went for touchdowns in a dismantling of Morgan State.

Smith's upside is only limited by spotty quarterback play, so keep an eye on the Danny O'Brien/Jamarr Robinson battle.  Robinson probably gives the Terps the best shot at winning, but O'Brien would do wonders for Smith's value.

Maryland wide receiver Torrey Smith caught four balls for 90 yards and a score in today's spring contest.

Smith will go as Jamarr Robinson goes and some inconsistency can be expected.  But when all is said and done, he has a good shot to lead the ACC in receiving.  That is going to make him valuable in any league, and you might be able to steal him from an unprepared manager on draft day.

Sophomore wide receiver Torrey Smith helped Maryland top the Clemson Tigers with three catches for 64 yards and a touchdown. Smith also had a 10 yard rushing attempt and 100 yards in kick returns.

Smith has the speed to be a dangerous fantasy option as it is evident he is a favorite target of quarterback Chris Turner. Since the season opening loss to Cal, Smith has racked up 20 catches for 421 yards and three touchdowns.
