UConn running backs Robbie Frey and Meme Wylie have decided not to play football for the Huskies this season. Both graduate in May and will move on from Storrs. Frey is enrolling in a graduate program at Division II Kutztown University and will spend his last year of eligibility playing there.
With Jordan Todman making the jump to the NFL and both Frey and Wylie now leaving, the Huskies only have USC-transfer D.J. Shoemate, Lyle McCombs (who was suspended indefinitely for a drug arrest), and senior Jonathan Jean-Louis on scholarship at the position. Look for Shoemate to get the bulk of the work now. UConn running back Robbie Frey had his knee scoped and will be out two to three weeks.

Without Frey, expect Jordan Todman to continue to see the majority of carries for the Huskies, which is good news for fantasy owners.

UConn running back Robbie Frey picked up 112 yards rushing and found the end zone once against Buffalo on Saturday. The junior started the game in place of Jordan Todman, who was out with an arm injury.

Frey won't get many opportunities to start but he seems capable of filling in for Todman when necessary. Keep tabs on him in case Todman goes down with any more injuries this season.

With starting tailback Jordan Todman nursing an arm injury, UConn turned to Robbie Frey and D.J. Shoemate. Frey ran for 112 yards and a score while Shoemate posted 60 and a score of his own.

Frey was the much more effective runner, averaging 8.6 yards per pop to Shoemate's 3.8. However Shoemate saw more carries. Look for Todman to return against Vanderbilt on Saturday.

UConn junior running back Robbie Frey carried the ball 12 times for 101 yards and two scores against Texas Southern.

Frey got most of the carries once Jordan Todman left the game with the Huskies clinging to a 30+ point lead. He appears to be the preferred backup over junior running back D.J. Shoemate.
