Russell Wilson threw 3 touchdown passes in Wisconsin’s 42-39 win over Michigan State in the inaugural Big Ten championship game.

Wilson was 17-of-24 for 187 yards and 3/0. Among those 17 completions were a few that were spectacular after it appeared he was going to be sacked or at least forced to throw the ball away. That’s why he was named the game’s MVP. Wilson set an NCAA record by throwing at least one TD pass in 37 straight games and it was the sixth time this year he threw at least a trio of scoring passes. He heads into the Badgers’ Rose Bowl game against Oregon with 31. Wilson has not thrown an interception since he was picked twice in the first meeting against the Spartans, a stretch of six games. He has only three interceptions on the season.

Russell Wilson hoped that by choosing to play at Wisconsin he would play for something big.

North Carolina State went to two bowls when Wilson was with the program: PapaJohns.com and Champs Sports. There is not much of a "wow" factor associated with those bowls. With Wisconsin, Wilson has guided the Badgers to the inaugural Big Ten championship game with a trip to the Rose Bowl.

Having already established a school record, Wisconsin quarterback Russell Wilson may still break multiple Big Ten and NCAA marks.

With at least three games remaining, Wilson has a shot at breaking the NCAA mark for most consecutive games with at least one touchdown pass, which stands at 36. Among other records that Wilson could break are Big Ten completion percentage and NCAA pass efficiency marks. The Badgers are at Illinois this week and host Penn State in the regular-season finale, which is a game that could determine whether they go to the inaugural Big Ten title game. Regardless if they play in the championship game, Wilson and Wisconsin will have a bowl to look forward to.

Wisconsin's Russell Wilson completed 16-of-17 for 178 yards and 4 TDs in a 42-13 win at Minnesota.

16-of-17 works out to 94.1 percent marking the fifth time this season Wilson completed at least 75 percent of his passes. The four TDs are a season high and the ninth time in 10 games this season Wilson has thrown at least two.

Wisconsin quarterback Russell Wilson totaled 281 yards and 3 touchdowns in a 62-17 win over Purdue.

Quarterback Russell Wilson threw for 253 yards and 3 touchdowns in a loss to Ohio State Saturday.

Wilson tried to bring his team back late, throwing two of his TDs with under 4 minutes left in the fourth quarter but was not able to complete the comeback. Wilson found a connection with receiver Jared Abbrederis, throwing both late TDs to the sophomore. Wilson added to his stellar passing season, now having 19 TDs to only 3 INTs for the Badgers, though the team was handed its second loss of the year.

Wisconsin quarterback Russell Wilson throws for 166 yards, 1 TD and catches a TD pass in a rout of Indiana.

The Heisman candidate did not have to do much in a 59-7 win over Indiana, though he managed to catch a 25-yard TD pass from Montee Ball. Speaking of Ball, the Badgers’ running game pounded the Hoosiers’ defense for 332 yards and Wilson went to the air only 17 times. He completed 12 passes for 166 yards and a second-quarter TD pass to Jacob Pedersen. Wilson, who has completed at least 70 percent of his passes in each of six games this season, has 14 TDs and 1 pick -- or as many INTs as TD catches.

Wisconsin quarterback Russell Wilson threw for 190 yards and 2 TDs in the decisive second quarter of a much-anticipated game against Nebraska.

This was not UNLV, a slumping Oregon State, Northern Illinois or South Dakota of the FCS. No sir, this was Nebraska. That is why Wilson has to be at or near the top of the Heisman favorites list as the leaves start to turn in Madison. Wilson, who was 14-20-255 and 2/0, has completed at least 70 percent of his passes in all five games with 13 TDs and only one pick.

Wisconsin QB Russell Wilson has thrown a touchdown pass in 28 consecutive games, the longest current streak in the nation.

Graham Harrell (36) holds the alltime mark set at Texas Tech. Although Wilson's numbers are expected to decline with Wisconsin entering conference play, his supporting cast is good enough to put him within striking distance. WR Nick Toon and Jared Abbrederis lead a unit that ranks first in the Big Ten in total offense.

Wisconsin quarterback Russell Wilson completed 17-of-20 passes with 3 TDs in romp over Oregon State.

It's now two great efforts for the graduate transfer. Wilson is 27-of-33 for more than 400 yards and 5 TDs without a pick.

Russell Wilson wasted no time in posting big numbers against UNLV in his debut with Wisconsin.

Wilson, a graduate student who transferred from North Carolina State, was 8-of-11 for 206 yards and a TD in the opening half against visiting UNLV. He padded those numbers with an 8-yard TD strike to complete the Badgers' opening drive of the second half.

Quarterback Russell Wilson was listed atop Wisconsin's depth chart and will start under center when they open against UNLV on September 1.

Wilson's rise in Madison is hardly surprising, though it's always nice to have some early confirmation when dealing with transfer players. With running backs Montee Ball and James White combining for 32 touchdowns and over 2000 yards on the ground last season, the Badgers are still unlikely to air it out in 2011, but Wilson has some value in Big Ten fantasy leagues as long as receiver Nick Toon stays healthy.

When asked for his thoughts on Russell Wilson heading to Auburn, head coach Gene Chizik said, "When it comes to the recruiting part of it, my job as the head coach at Auburn is to make sure we're going to develop our roster the best way we see fit to help Auburn win. So as we go down the recruiting road, whoever gives us that opportunity to win at Auburn -- whether it's a junior college transfer or high school (player) or whoever we feel fits the bill to continuously improve Auburn's football team to give us a chance to compete for a championship -- then obviously that's my job and I'm for it."

The last three words really let us know what Chizik thinks of Wilson and his possible transfer to Auburn.  If Wilson does head to The Plains and beats out Barrett Trotter and Clint Moseley, he could put the Tigers in a position to overcome the many losses to graduation.

Yesterday it was reported that quarterback Russell Wilson stopped in to visit Auburn Monday night and Tuesday on his day off from Asheville Tourists minor league baseball club. But the battle for his services this fall is far from over. Wisconsin is still in the mix and hopes to have Wilson on campus in June.

There still are some major hurdles for Wilson to overcome. As we noted earlier, his minor league baseball season doesn't come to an end until Sept. 5. And even if he is given permission to leave the team early, he'll only have a month of fall camp to learn a new offense and get back into football shape.
