New Wisconsin head coach Gary Andersen might incorporate some of the Pistol formation into the Badgers offense in 2013.
Andersen reportedly wants a quarterback that can run, but not necessarily at a high amount. TO make it clear, the Pistol is a formation, not a set of plays or singular one. Teams have started to run the zone read from the look, but the Pistol is more about giving quarterbacks vision and hiding running back tendencies. Feb 6 - 1:53 PM

Wisconsin senior QB Curt Phillips was awarded a sixth season of eligibility by the NCAA.

Phillips ended the season as the Badgers' starter after not playing a down in 2011 and 2010. We expect Wisconsin to look for an upgrade this summer, but at least their fall back plan is returning for one more season.

Wisconsin senior Curt Phillips will start at QB in the team's bowl game against Stanford.

Joel Stave still has not been cleared to play due to a shoulder injury, so Phillips will draw the start. The senior played a large role in the team's final four games, and his four touchdowns to one interception is likely Phillips' best reason for starting.

Wisconsin senior Curt Phillips, not senior Danny O'Brien, will Start at QB for the Badgers against Indiana.

At the beginning of October, head coach Bret Bielema stated that he hoped to get Phillips more involved in the offensive gameplan, and the season ending injury to Joel Stave opens that door. Phillips has a history of knee injuries but thrives in run-read options, so the offensive gameplan may look quite a bit different on Saturday.

Wisconsin head coach Bret Bielema noted on Monday that he wants to get senior QB Curt Phillips more involved in the offensive gameplan.

"You saw what Michigan was able to do against Purdue in the spread look," Bielema said, "so it's something we'll definitely explore and hopefully continue to build." Phillips, who has a history of knee injuries, appears to be the Badgers run-read quarterback option, and it would be quite a different wrinkle for the coaching staff to include compared to their usual ground and pound approach.

Things just seem to get worse for Wisconsin quarterback Curt Phillips.  After surgically repairing his second torn ACL, Phillips went under the knife to "clean things up" but will now miss the entire 2011 season.

For the Badgers, this leaves very little depth behind Jon Budmayr which makes his health all the more crucial.

A healthy Phillips will assuage the fears of Badger fans, though he likely won't have a huge fantasy impact until Scott Tolzien moves on.

Wisconsin backup quarterback Curt Phillips, who suffered a torn ACL during spring ball, could be back for early Big Ten action.

This offense belongs to Scott Tolzien, however the healthy and early return of Phillips will assuage a lot of fears in Madison should Tolzien be forced to miss time.

ESPN.com's Adam Rittenberg reports that Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema is optimistic that backup quarterback Curt Phillips (ACL) could play this fall.

It was originally believed that Phillips would be shelved for all of 2010, and his early return would provide depth behind starter Scott Tolzien.

Wisconsin backup quarterback Curt Phillips injured his right knee scrambling from defenders in practice on Saturday.  The extent of the injury is unknown.

Phillips was our favorite to emerge as the Badgers' starter last fall, but Scott Tolzien was even more impressive and has a firm grasp on the starting job.

Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema has said that quarterback Curt Phillips will see plays designed specifically for him, though there is a chance that he could win the starting job should he work on one key component of quarterback play:  throwing the football. 

Based on the report from The Badger Beat it sounds like Phillips sees passes batted down with a Flutie-like frequency.  Should this be worked out then he'll battle with Dustin Sherer for the starting job.  Regardless of who wins this job for this year it's Curt Phillips that has fantasy value for owners.

Redshirt freshman Curt Phillips is still in the race with last year's stater Dustin Sherer for the Badgers starting quarterback role in 2009.

Clearly Phillips has something coach Bielema likes if he is considering a switch. This is likely to drag out into fall camp.

Redshirt freshmen Curt Phillips took over for senior quarterback Dustin Sherer in the second quarter of today's spring game for the Wisconsin Badgers, and ended the day 10-of-16 for 122 yards and two touchdowns. More impressive, he did so without a turnover.

There is little doubt that Sherer should be the starter for the Badgers heading into the 2009 season, but look for Phillips to be in the race to back up the senior under center when fall practices resume.
